Great to see you again MR! I see you have discovered a new conmcept: the "sort-of light group"! I know just what you mean, now I have a name for it, thank you sir!

The reason for this difference could be more easily understood if you see that there are 3 useless points due to the seki, so the sum is no longer 361 points, but 358. 358 being even causes the reversal in the minimum difference.

The way Chris answers the question Michael poses at 55:12 was the funniest moment of my day. :D

More games! Great! Would it be possible to get Michael's assessment on the LeelaZero playing strength? I have seen the games against Haylee but I would be curious on what he has to say about it, if he's played it at all. Or, of course, if he even know about it.

I think it does play at a professional level, but AlphaGo is just in a different dimension. I analyzed this game with Leela Zero, but many of the brilliant moves in game went completely unnoticed by LZ.

Leela Zero is already playing at super-human level, and can definitely give handicaps to even top pros. AlphaGo is not out of reach for LZ.

LZ and ELF are both at super-human level . They are at least 1 stone stronger than top pros and with very little chance that any human player would beat those AIs. Some ppl say that ELF is at AG Zero level now

I thought the first half of the game (not the commentary!) was kinda boring, but the second half, man, just fireworks and fireworks. So much fun. Thank you, Michael and Chris =) Annnd... when is Michael finally gonna play Leela Zero on OGS, as we have been asking...? :)

I have a question about the Variation at 16:42. After the hane in the corner at B19, can Black just capture the three white stones on the left with the nose tesuji or is there a liberty issue in with the corner stones? Thank you

  • @ConsciousBreaks

I don't really see how that would capture the three white stones. White should be able to easily jump out, and then the two Black cutting stones are looking a bit weak after that.

16:32 is a better time stamp I suppose. Here instead of a18 the move c11 captures. There is nowhere to jump to. LZ agrees that it is slightly better for Black than a variation in which w doesn´t exchange b19 immidiately and instead defends the 3 stones

Ah, I didn't know you were referring to Michael's subvariation, I thought you were referring to the main variation with Black responding to W's hane.

A layman question: usually 6.5 points of komi are given when counting with the Japanese rules system, while 7.5 are given with the Chinese counting. If this is true Black wins by 0.5 points in either cases. Is that right?

Does Michael have any comments on AlphaGo Teach website from Deepmind? Has he had any time to play with it, or are you guys running him hard over at the AGA? XD

It would be nice if these uploads could be a bit more consistent. It's understandable if Michael, Chris, and the AGA team are too busy to make these videos every week, but I think people would prefer something like a video every two weeks, rather than videos one week, then nothing for a month. If nothing else, at least a heads up would be nice, too. Looking forward to the upcoming games! (Especially Zero vs Master game 11, where Master beats Zero.)

One "sad" thing about Michael ... the fact he stays only with GO may be unhappy for us, who could possibly benefit if he were to go into politics (POTUS?), science, medicine, education, etc ... some field where we could benefit from his smarts! 🙂

What kind of idiot gives this a thumbs-down after so many similar videos by these two? P.S. Chris, could you sit a little further from the camera (if possible)?? It's just that there's some distortion...
