    @@reloadedjulio Thanks for your question 🙏 This is a 2-slot card. For the thickness of the block, I think you would want more precise measurements, but the thickness is about 1cm from what I can tell. Yea, the 40-series is the same as the 30-series where some partners will use NVIDIA's reference design like PNY and others will customize the design like Asus/MSI/Gigabyte and NVIDIA has their own design like the Founders Edition. Hope that helps.

    Thanks for your comment 🙏 I have been pleasantly surprised at Alphacool and its why I decided to get this block. They outdid themselves this time around, improving in several areas. I still prefer Heatkiller but it is more expensive and they didn't seem to have anything at release. EKWB, I have had quality issues with more than 1 of their items. I even had a standoff break off and I was simply tightening by hand. 😑 Having said that, I try all the brands and I will continue to buy from EKWB them because I think they have some interesting products and designs.

    Thanks for your comment 🙏 Hm, I have considered this before but didn't initially do it because the (very detailed) dimensions and measurements are usually included in the instructions and/or support materials. However, thinking about it more now, there are differences. For example, I noticed that this reference 4090 is about 1 inch longer than another reference 4090 and it has a bit of an overhang beyond the block. Also, I guess the overall thickness isn't in the materials. I'm considering including this for future episodes. If so, what measurements would you want to see?

    So after your experience would you say that’s most all blocks for 4090FE will fit the PNY 4090? I have the PNY 4090 and want to use the EK water block. Would this work?

  • @vectornetwork

    @vectornetwork

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks for your comment 🙏 This is a common misconception that Founders and Reference are the same thing. For NVIDIA, they will have a Reference design that other manufacturers can use. PNY will simply make a card using that Reference design. Other manufacturers (Asus, MSI, Gigabyte) will often change something on the PCB (for a lot of reasons) and that makes the design Custom and not a Reference design. NVIDIA produces their own Custom card and named it the Founders Edition. The two designs are completely different. AMD, on the other hand, provides the Reference design and also produces the Reference cards, so that can cause some confusion. But 100% sure the block for a 4090 FE will not fit the PNY 4090 (or any other non-4090 FE card). Hope that helps.

They did modify the reference PCB by adding about 1-inch to the length, to fit that red-colored header (I think it's for RGB, but not sure, never tried it). So, it would technically not fit a reference water block that was fully enclosed (all around). The alphacool one was fine as its not enclosed. For an example, check out the INNO3D iChill water block version and the reference PCB there fits completely within the water block, which this one, you see about 1-inch hang out on the side.

    Thanks for your comment 🙏Correct, while Alphacool did take steps to improve on this generation of water blocks (chrome plating, better flow path, better O-ring placement), they are still using a predominantly acrylic top. While this clearly showcases everything, acrylic can be seen as a little less refined than as having a metal cover of some sort. There actually isn't that many options for the reference 4090 and the Alphacool core looks a little different but still acrylic. Thanks again for commenting and thanks for watching

    Thanks for your comment 🙏 Uh oh, that doesn't sound right. Is it possible you're using a reference card but got a founders editions water block? Or vice versa? Founders is not the same as Reference for NVIDIA.

    I would avoid @alphacool products. They have the worst customer support. I've been waiting over 7 weeks for repair parts on 2 new V2 GPU waterblock for my 4090 GPUs and still nothing from Alphacool support.! 💩

    Thanks for your comment 🙏I am sincerely taking into account the feedback that expresses that the cuts are too quick. I will do my best to re-think how the footage will be presented for upcoming videos. While I don't think anything drastic should be expected, but I do intend on making efforts to slow it down. Thank you for the feedback.

    Nickle plated. Not chrome plated.

    Thank you for your comment 🙏I just saw Der8auer's video where he said the Innochill one he had was nickel plating. I am subscribed to Der8auer and watch his videos because they are awesome. I got chrome plating from Alphacool's press release and their website. Press release I'll paste below, it has other good information. Sep 20th, 2022 "The new Geforce RTX generation is here and Alphacool obviously offers a water cooler for it as well. The cooler for the new generation is much more than just another Eisblock Aurora GPU cooler. It is the first step towards a new generation of Alphacool coolers that brings significant improvements over the previous Aurora generation. What's new? Alphacool will be using chrome-plated instead of nickel-plated copper coolers for all graphics card coolers in the future. A chrome plating is significantly harder and more resistant than a nickel plating. Chrome plating also benefits lighting because it is much smoother and reflects light better than nickel plating. The cooling fins have been reduced to 0.4 mm and the spacing between the fins has been optimized to 0.4 mm. This creates a larger cooling surface and provides lower flow resistance for the cooler, resulting in better performance. The water routing has been revised to provide a more even flow of water to the jetplate. The jetplate itself is recessed into the cooling fins and is pressed onto them by a new designed inlet with an O-ring. This ensures that the water is reliably pressed through the cooling fins. This also provides a performance plus. The Alphacool Subzero with 16 W/mk is included as thermal compound. This high-performance thermal compound is one of the most powerful on the market. For the voltage converters and the graphics memory, 1 mm thin 7 W/mk soft pads are used. In cooperation with board partners from Nvidia, the base of the previous Eisblock cooler has been almost completely reworked. These major changes can be clearly seen in the overall look of the cooler. Alphacool's new Aurora water cooler has been extensively tested on the new RTX 4090 graphics card generation and has gone through a long development phase to provide the best possible performance. The coolers are currently in production and will start shipping to end customers and resellers in mid-October. An AIO variant in the form of the Eiswolf 2 will of course also follow shortly."

    @@sagerdood Thanks for your comment. Hm, on Aquatuning, the part # for the Reference 4090 water block is 1023221 and the part # for the Founders Edition 4090 waterblock is 1023334. They are different and the Founders is not the reference. Common misconception since AMD calls the card they make and distribute their "reference card". Hope that helps

    Thanks for your comment 🙏 The RTX 4090 is such an efficient card and appears to be easier to cool than the 3090/3090ti. So, its not surprising that a reference card made by PNY, with their experience in making Quadro cards, would run cool. I took apart this card at time when it wasn't yet confirmed if the PNY 4090 had a reference design PCB. Its potentially helpful information for anyone would like to install a water block on it. Less people certainly water cool than air cool, but water cooling is not without its purposes. Hope that helps.
