Yes, i would have sold bits of it like the interior, engine, wheels and other stuff not related to the rust issue, they would have ended up with more money that way.

The ultimate luxury for me who used to have to keep old bangers running if I wanted a car, was one fine day to just go and buy a brand new car from the showroom. Oddly enough in the long run I found that it was so much cheaper to own and run a new car than an old one. Add in a warranty and no lost time doing unexpected expensive repairs, it was night and day better.

Hi Gus & Will, thank you for your videos. I was very surprised when I saw you guys send a car for the scrap yard, your aim is to have a salary, also you guys have loads of "experience" after spending loads of hours and money in the car and refusing an offer of £300, I still wondering if it could be better selling the car for parts! The wheels were like new, and the engine was okay even had the cambelt changed and some other bits. Sorry for this my comments but is just my opinion.

Sad that they crushed the car. I understand the car was a write off, and not worth fixing, but where I come from, we crush and recycle an empty body shell. There were so many parts that could still be used on other Alfa-Romeo's. Things like lights, wheels, interiour, engine, bumpers, doors, hood, and tailgate. These parts could have saved other Alfa-Romeo's out there. There will always be someone that has the same car with a broken taillight, dented door, cracked bumper or a unrepairable engine. They wasted money and time refurbishing the wheels and replacing the cambelt just to crush the car with these parts still attracted to the car. I am a huge Alfa-Romeo fan, and it broke my heart seeing this episode. Makes me think these guys don't know what they're doing. I've never owned an Alfa-Romeo before, but plan to get myself one some day, I've always loved the Alfa-Romeo GT coupè. Everybody says that Alfa-Romeo just has that something special about it, just that special feeling, or fizz when you sit behind the steering wheel. Let's you know your driving something special, not just a normal boring car. They could still have made some money from this car. Just crush the empty rusted shell, everything off, including glass, doors, fenders ect. If jou didn't have time to completely stripp and sell the salvageable parts, sell the car to someone who has, or want the car as a doner car. What a waste.

I really enjoy these videos but Alfa’s are known rust buckets. I think there were two other choices here instead of scrapping. The first would have been to strip the car down and sell off the parts. There’s plenty of room in that workshop so the second possibility was to put the car to the side and finish the bodywork in spare time or spend four hours on it each Saturday until completion.

My main concern would be that when you come to sell the car you may have fallen foul of the Sale of Goods Act which says the item must be of "Merchantable Quality" or safe to use. Even given undoubted skill of Will's welding (better than mine) you may never have chased it all out and the car might have been unsafe to used, particularly if involved in an accident later in it's life, people could be hurt and you could be prosecuted.

I like your responsible decision not to sell this bag of rust on, but for God's sake, if you had taken some parts off the car and sold them as spare parts, like the newly furbished wheels, the good engine, lights, interior bits and pieces, and in fact any part of the car that was not rusted, you may even have doubled your original 400 pounds. Or was it only for the show, guys? Did you really lose that money, or you only faked this whole story? That would be utterly disappointing. For now that I have seen a number of your flips, I kinda started to like what you do. OMG, was that all fake?

Damn, and it runs so well too! To be honest, I’m so glad I read the comments before watching this. That’s an hour I just saved. Some 90’s onwards Alfa’s starting to really climb in value.
