We needed to get in Michael Edwards before the manager. Klopp's major issue was that relationship and we've seen that the recruitment has not been great since Edwards left. I'm less concerned with having Edwards and no Alonso than the the reverse.

Big respect for him for staying at Leverkusen. Obviously that means he’ll be going to Madrid next year, which any manager would want that squad he’ll inherit. But taking the team he built to champions league and maybe winning the league shows a lot of character. Also many Leverkusen players would have left if he left so he decided to stay there and keep the squad together. Liverpool fans expected him to come and I see the reason why but he really hasn’t snubbed the Liverpool job. The only problem for Liverpool is that after next season maybe Madrid would come into the equation as Ancelotti is leaving. The title is misleading. I respect Mark but his titles really give false information.

Not surprised. Xabi gives wise & mature so hard; of course he’s sticking with Leverkusen to learn & grow. Managers need to make decisions in their professional lives to make sure they can provide the best, not to satisfy hype from media or fans (of their current club or not).

I think it should be thomas frank honestly. Very likeable guy, knows the game well, can get players on his side. In the championship he played with a back four and had lots of possession, so he can play our style, he had to adapt with brentford in the prem due to quality, which is also a good quality btw. With alonso gone there is no clear number 2 option, but I‘d love to see thomas frank regardless of his experience at the very top, I think he would manage very well

This is alonsos first ever full season of top level management . He’s on course for a double and Europa and will keep all his players this year as well as sign some more for next year and then next year can test himself in the champions league with a very strong squad before he leaves for real.

He didn't snub man. He respected Leverkusen and he definitely wants to go Real. He needs the experience. He will eventually go to Liverpool one day but not now. Amorim & Inzaghi is good options. De Zerbi is more good for City or Barcelona. Amorim has good profile which Liverpool need right now. A manager who encourages young talents, being good with man management, being tactical flexible. He is perfect for Liverpool right now.

Not a snub. Good on Xabi still a legend and young manager. Agree on De Zerbi. Amorim, Frank, or Naglesman probably fit Liverpool’s style better and they are low risk to fire if they don’t work out.

Amorim for me. He gave Sporting first title in 19 years, whilst with smaller budget than Benfica, and Porto. Develops young players and plays some good football.

I was just thinking about this yesterday. Why is everyone thinking it’s a forsure thing that Alonso leaves? He has a great squad at Leverkusen and could build even more on it next season.

I think it is not just for him that he doesnt feel ready. Leverkusen have promised him big transfers for next season. And they have the backing of the Bayer company who are prepared to increase the investment. I think he sees the possibility to turn Leverkusen in something bigger

Its actually a good thing for all parties. I dont think Xabi couldve handled the immense pressure of succeeding Klopp at a Liverpool side with infinitely higher expectations compared to Leverkusen. I think Liverpool should get a short term manager for 1 or 2 seasons and then get the actual replacement after.

As a Liverpool fan, while I did think Alonso would take the job, I've Said that the best option for his development would be to stay. For the manager, for me it's between Amorim and Nagelsmann. I would go with Amorim, because I think with the name and the German connection, there would be more pressure on nagelsmann. Either one is fine tho, as long as we don't get de zerbi imo.

Thank God a manager has some integrity finally.
