AUDIO LOG #6: It's been 16 weeks since the "incident," and 6 weeks since my last contact with the outside world...Comms have been quiet...Too quiet. I don't want to think too much into that.Good thing is my food and water supply are good. Enough rations to last me a couple of years...Ammo is running low. Only a dozen rounds of .357 magnum left...Those bandits won't be bothering me anymore... I haven't been sleeping well. A nap here or there, but the insomnia is getting worse. I..I uh...saw her again...in my dreams...She never says anything. She just...stands there and stares at me...then she looks out the window and...that's it, that's the dream...I don't know what it all means...I just wish I could hear her voice again...I don't even have a picture of her... Anyhow, on a positive note, I think I made an new friend. There's been a coyote hanging around the property. A female by the looks of her. Seems friendly. I gave her some food the other day. She hasn't let me pet her yet but I think we're figuring each other out. She'll come around. I think she's the reason I haven't "ended it" yet...Mans best friend right?...Yeah...Man's best friend...(AUDIO ENDS)

This brings back memories of the Kongolese Rainforest in '03-'04, several tens of miles from Kisangani. The constant heat and humidity (and the mosquitoes) made it hard to breath and gave us a sense of slow and vulnerability... The deep jungle always makes me feel both peaceful and insecure. The thing was...we didn't have many MRE packets, catch rainwater and were not heavy on ammo. All that, for nothing. As usual. Anyway...Great writing of yours.

I've been messin' in my head to find a way to tell a story on an auto-biographic romance I would like to write, but I was missing the whole situation where the main character is able to tell the whole story in way coerent with the plot itself. You and your comment, combined with this awesome OST, just gave me an hint on how to do that. Thanks a lot! (Brilliant writing, just a few phrases but really really immersive ones)

AUDIO LOG #7: It's been two weeks since I ate that stupid coyote. At first I was still in a state of utter shock after it attacked me and I finished putting it down. I ... I think I went a little bit crazy and was so hurt emotionally that um.. well. bad enough I did to it what it wanted to do to me but well... you know a man gets really lonely out here and ... i should probably delete this audio.

Awesome. Glade I was able to catch this while I am on lunch at Amazon. This is helping calm down my adhd from the chaos of working here.

[JOURNAL ENTRY: JUNE 10, 2027] Today marks 7 months since the outbreak hit. Me and a few friends happened on what looks like some kind of outpost this morning. Seems like it was recently deserted in the mountain foothills. Was this place a research facility of some sort? It's still stocked with a good 2-3 years worth of rations and water. Well, so long as no one overeats. Perhaps it was some sort of armed forces outpost? We all found a good sized room with a doomsday enthusiast's dreams worth of weapons and ammunition a few hours ago. The Comms don't look like they've seen anything resembling use in months. There's a nice, thick layer of dust on everything in the Comms room. I think it might be a good idea to keep it that way, at least for now. Keep a low profile. Don't want any unnecessary attention for the time being. I don't really think the purpose of this building matters at the moment. This place is pretty well fortified, it has power, insulation, and most importantly, a shower and some beds. It's been weeks since any of us were able to take a proper bath or get any good amount of sleep. I'm really looking forward to when my shift on watch ends. If only it wasn't the end of the world. The view from the Comms room is incredible. This would've been a decent vacation spot if the whole world hadn't gone to hell... [JOURNAL ENTRY END]
