    This might be a dumb question but I’m a newbie here, where do you dispose of the bagged clippings; do the regular trash collector grab it or is there special group that picks it up. Thanks

  • @BudgetLawns

    @BudgetLawns

    Жыл бұрын

    Depends on your city. My old city picked up the bags along with the regular trash day. My new town will only take what you can fit in your trash bin. I will be taking mine to a compost pile nearby. If your city has a garden waste facility, you can take them there. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

    I’m lucky the town I live in will take anything at the curb weekly. I have also used the clippings in a fire pit in the past. If you want to get real old school southern you can burn the brown off your lawn and fertilize it with all that carbon. Obvious dangers and city codes apply to that tho.

    supposed to get lots of rain this week here in nw ark..... so with my bermuda showing some "waking up" I was thinking about throwing some granules down tomorrow to have the rain soak it in,,, (10-10-10 fertilizer),,,, what ya think? yea or nay?

  • @BudgetLawns

    @BudgetLawns

    Yeah, the rain will be nice. It’s not greened up enough for my liking. I usually wait until the first or second week of May, depending on the weather each year. Looks like this year will need some more green up. I like it to be a bit warmer too. Going to be an awfully cool week.

    My lawn is built on a sand pit , maybe 3 inches top soil. Do you suggest more than 1 inch water a week ? I'm thinking the water drains down a lot quicker with all my sand under the top soil. What do you think ? Love the channel , never miss a vid

  • @BudgetLawns

    @BudgetLawns

    Жыл бұрын

    Appreciate the support. I’d say still shoot for that 1 inch a week. However, with it being sandy, you may wanna do that in 3 waterings a week of 1/3 of an inch each time. That’d help keep it from drying out too much between 2 waterings. Hope this helps. Thanks again.

    Great Video! When do you recommend adding more seed to thinker up the lawn in this process? I have a mixture of Bermuda and Fescue. It was like that when I bought the house. I am thinking of thatching it in the spring and throwing seeds on there to get one particular type to grow over the other. I haven't decided which way to go yet. I am in Southern Cali

    Thank you. Much appreciated. If you choose bermuda, you don't need to apply any more seed. It will spread on its own. Lower, frequent mowing will help slow/stunt the fescue and let the bermuda start to take over. Choosing fescue will be a challenge. Once bermuda is in fescue, it's almost a losing battle. Hope this helps. Thanks again. Glad to have ya here on the channel.

    I wonder whether you have any advice about controlling the power annua that has taken over my Bermuda lawn this spring. I used Image and some preemergent but to no avail. Probably I should apply the preemerg early and in the last fall. Thanks.

  • @BudgetLawns

    @BudgetLawns

    To control the poa in spring, you really have to get down a fall pre emergent. I apply one in September and then again in January. Have had success thus far with that. What does break though will get scorched in the summer heat. Appreciate ya!

  • @BudgetLawns

    Thank you. If I'm going with the rotary, it won't go low enough to hit dirt in most spots. With the Cal Trimmer, I'll go as low as I can without hitting dirt. I have a Troybilt TB130 from Lowe's. 10 years old and still works great. Hard to beat for a budget push mower. Hope this helps. Appreciate ya.

    Thank you. Appreciate the feedback. And I understand. I wish I could make all my videos 3 minutes. It would save me a lot of time and work too. Creators play a game of trying to please KZread and viewers. Unfortunately, they want 2 different things. KZread wants minutes for advertisers. Viewers want just the tips in short videos. Hope this makes sense. It's just a game we have to play to get help from KZread so people actually see our videos. If they can't make money from advertising off our videos, then our content means nothing to them. That's why it's so important for subs to like, comment and share. By the way, I also did one aplication of SPECTRACIDE WEED STOP FOR LAWNS CONCENTRATE2 READY-TO-SPRAY (the yellow one) 4 weeks ago then waited 2 weeks and did the second application. This second application was 5 days ago

    I won't put any fertilizer down until the bermuda is mostly greened up. That's usually well after my pre emergent application so they don't affect each other. As long as you're mostly greened up, you should be able to apply whenever. You could have done it on the same day and watered both in at the same time. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
