Almost The End Of The Contender Saga

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Today I swap the Garmin radar on the Contender 32. I put a new fantom 24 on the bracket and test it. The next video will be the final boat test in the water to set up the auto pilot. Thanks for watching.

    @@SaltyMechanicsJunior I enjoy everything with a motor☺️. That's what you have to say because things are becoming electric because engines are not the normal anymore. I don't fly anymore but I did enjoy my time in the air. I have some motorcycle footage for the next round☺️. I always enjoy your videos. Makes me jealous of where you live 👊

    @@JustinLeeMarine so cool you did fly, but understand you don’t anymore. It’s time consuming and expensive. Yea, I can understand why you’re jealous. It’s a diverse country with seasonal challenges and a lot of cool places. Norway 🇳🇴 can be magical. I should fly my drone some other places again soon. See you on the docks soon again👊

    Another great video, thanks. Someone once told me FLIR was more useful in Central/South Florida than radar. Radar was really good if you’re trying to spot birds for fishing, but FLIR could get you in and out of the harbor earlier and later. Thoughts?

  • @JustinLeeMarine

    I agree with that for fishing but when the weather turns bad. I would rather have the radar in that situation. It can get pretty bad around Pinellas anyway.

    Saga indeed. Lots of work!! Good work of course. I’ve a unrelated question for you. I’m getting 12.3v reading on a charged bank of 4-12v parallel house batteries. Does one need to disconnect and check each battery alone to test the batteries?. Or is it best to put a load on and measure amps traversing each leg of the bank? Thanks.

  • @JustinLeeMarine

    @JustinLeeMarine

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thank you and good question. You will need to unhook all of them to test them correctly. 1 bad battery can make it look like they are all bad. 12.3 is not fully charged. Should be closer to 12.8 when fully charged. Battery range from 100% to 0% is 12.8(100%) and 12.0(0%). Anything under 12 volts is dead.

    Great video, I have a regal 28 express that I bought a Garmin fantom 18 for it. Do you think I need a wedge to point the radar down or should I be ok? Looking at pictures of the boat in the water, running on plane I'm pretty close to parallel with water and off plane it is parallel. Thoughts?

  • @JustinLeeMarine

    I would mount it normally and if it has too much angle then you can always add a wedge to it later.

    you mentioned in a previous video that the company you work for doesn't sell Scout boats anymore due to service. I was thinking about buying one but would like your opinion. Good or bad.

  • @JustinLeeMarine

    @JustinLeeMarine

    Good question. I have seen many scouts in my days of working on boats. The brand new ones seem to be impressive but I couldn't tell you the real quality of them. It's been years since we had them and we stopped because they wouldn't back their warranty when things went wrong. We have one at the shop right now that is black and I can see the fiberglass pattern through the gel coat. That tells me that they don't lay much glass or gel when building their boats. I don't know what year you are looking at or what size. Seems the bigger they get the lesser they are built.

    Justin-you need to go in the office and see how much this whole transformation costs this guy.you also should video the customers reaction when he sees what you did to this boat--both would make awesome content. The footage of you and your daughter was adorable too.We’re you guys alone on this helicopter ride? And do you know how to fly that thing?

  • @JustinLeeMarine

    That is a good idea. I usually leave the customers out because they don't want to be on camera. Yes that is me and her alone in the chopper. Was on the bucket list a long time ago. I don't fly anymore. It was expensive but I am glad I got to learn. 😅
