Bought this set and absolutely love them. Although, the first use, I dropped them from waist height and broke the locking button. So now I have to hold them closed with a Velcro strap.
Anyone else wanna see Doc's entire Knipex collection?
FYI: The crimper is for ferrules. It is not designed for insulated terminals.

Are those used mostly in Europe? I actually have an entire ferrule kit a couple years old and have never used it.

They’re not required by code, but they help in situations where you have screw terminals. For example, I have a 13.8V power supply with screw terminals so I put ferrules on the end.
I got them as soon as they became available in Canada and love them!
I like these much better than the standard ones… comfort level is top notch 👍👍
I think these are awesome. Have a similar set from Vampliers I think but I rarely use them. I always have either diagonal cutters or my forged Knipex wire strippers on me. I haven’t found a use to have these close to me.
For crimping, I have one of those 5-jaws ratcheting Knipex crimpers, which work the best of my various (that is, too many) crimping tools. However, one of the jaws was messed up - either by me the very first time I used them, or when I got them. I went online, sent the jaws back, and Knipex sent me an entirely new tool; so now I have two crimpers and 9 sets of jaws, which I keep loaded with the two sets I use the most.
Some real thought went into those Knipix pistol grip shears. Looks good!
the crimper is for non-insulated ground wire crimps for the insulated stuff I prefer a dedicated tool
I do love these shears. Very sharp and fits beautifully in the hand. Great as a "general use" pair of shears for cutting the occasional wire, packaging, or tape, but I would use the more refined and task-specific cutters and crimpers when needed. Still very handy to have on you though.
I hear that rubber overlay (on the grips) disintegrates over time. I'd be more inclined to buy a pair if I knew the grip would last a long time.
both crimpers you got there is for ferrules, but they are not great for that either.
I have the older version of the knipex pistol grip shears with a smaller handle, but it comes with a plastic sheat and clip. The crimper is designed for ferrules only not for insulated ones, and it works fine. But I am using the right tool for the job, not this scissors.
Insulated vs non-insulated crimp. Tool looks like it's for non-insulated.
Hahaha! Leave those two alone long enough and bam! New tool.
Thanks, Doc.
Hey Doc, do these companies send you these tools for honest reviews or do you purchase them for your tool collection? Just curious. Thanks!

95% of everything on this channel I buy on my own. The exceptions include Olight stuff, some knives and flashlights and a few other odds and ends. No Knipex unfortunately.
