Its a short story named “Seduction Of Thanatos”

The whole story: August 15th. Although the sun had already set, there is still humidity in the air. Sweat was pouring from my body as I ran up the stairs of my apartment. [Goodbye] A LINE message with only 4 words from my girlfriend. I immediately understood what the message meant. I went to work despite today being Obon and rushed to my apartment after preparing to go home. Then I found her standing beyond the fence of the rooftop with empty eyes. To be honest, this is already the 4th time I’ve seen her trying to jump and commit suicide. There are 2 types of people in the world. Desire to live── the people being ruled by ”Eros”. Desire to die── the people being ruled by ”Thanatos”. Most of the people in this world were the former, but she was undoubtedly the latter. I knew that she was a person being ruled by “Thanatos” before I started dating her. It’s not surprising because I saved her when she was trying to commit suicide on the rooftop, similar to now. That was how I met her. She was the girl who recently moved into the same apartment as me. She had round, cute eyes and full lips. She had lovely facial features, and the delicate-looking girl stole my whole heart in an instant. I’m sure that it was something like love at first sight. From that point on, I started talking about various things with her and we soon became friends. It was as if she was an angel descending from heaven when I was living alone, feeling lonely while working in a black company. I had a doubt in my mind. Whenever she tries to commit suicide, she always contacts me. She’ll then wait there until I come to her. I think I’m more certain that she’d die alone without anyone knowing, but… Perhaps somewhere in her heart, she just wanted me to stop her from committing suicide and help her like how I did when we first met. I interpreted it in my own way. Therefore, I’m running up the stairs again this time. “Gasp, gasp…” I reached the rooftop. I saw the back of the girl who was standing beyond the fence. “Wait…!!” I jumped over the fence and grabbed her hand. Her hand was cold, contrary to the humid air. “Let go.” Her cute and fragile voice resembles the tinkle of a bell. I liked her voice too. “Why, that way, you…!” “I want to die quickly.” “Why…!” “Because the Grim Reaper is calling me.” She can see the ‘Grim Reaper’. And only people who are being ruled by ‘Thanatos’ can see the ‘Grim Reaper’. “There’s no Grim Reaper.” “Why can’t you understand…!” As I denied that the Grim Reaper existed, she cried out. The Grim Reaper seems to be the most attractive to those who see it. In a sense, it would look like their ideal person. When she was looking at the Grim Reaper (though it only seems like she’s staring at the empty sky to me), her expression seemed to be as if she was in love with someone. As if she had fallen in love with it. I hated that expression of hers. “Don’t look at the Grim Reaper, look at me.” “No…!” She tried to shake my hand off, so I forcefully gripped it without thinking. “Ouch…!” “! Sorry…” But it’s not my fault. It’s because she tried to shake my hand off. Because she won’t look at me. “The Grim Reaper wouldn’t do something like this…!” Something murky is surging in my heart. “Why…” I wonder why, even though I love you so much, you won’t look at me alone. I know it was foolish in my heart to be jealous of the Grim Reaper, but I couldn’t help it. “I don’t want this anymore.” I don’t want this either. “I’m tired already.” I’m tired too. “I want to die quickly.” “I want to die too!!” At that moment, she lifted her head up. And smiled. As soon as I saw her smile, I suddenly felt the murky thing in my heart disappear. Huh, could it be… “Have you…finally realized?” “Ahh…I finally understand.” “Really…? I’m glad…” Ahh, I see. The reason why you called me every time you tried to commit suicide, it wasn’t because you wanted me to help you. You wanted to bring me along. To escape from the uneasiness that the world brings us. We ran towards the night sky.

I don't know but the "imagination" thing is makes more sense to me. I also read this from the music video, saying that the boy is the depressed one and want to commit suicide but he can't do it because he thought that there isn't enough reason to do that. That girl is his imagination made by his depression. Because as you can see the scene where the boy is sitting on the chair and there's a footprints starting from the chair where the boy sat up to the rooftop where he saw the girl. The footprints is from his place's direction so I really think that the girl came from him, from his imagination. He just didn't realized that because psychologically speaking, that is one of the symptoms from the people who is mentally ill or depressed. She is made from his depression, that's why she is like that. And that's why when they fell off from the rooftop, the boy is the only one who is dead. My theory can also mixed with the fact that the lyrics is talking about how they want to be happy, how the boy want to be with this girl, with his happiness even though it's just his hallucination or imagination, but yeah, depression is not something where you can just wipe it out like a dirt or stain, that's why in their mind, depression wins than love then both raced into the night.

People with thanatos can see the grim reaper. Since the girl has thanatos the grim reaper is calling out to her and the boy gets jealous. She tries to attempt suicide again and it looks like she is just waiting for the boy to come save her again. After a while she says no more so they break up and now the boy doesnt want to live either. Now it flashes to where they are both at a rooftop and the girl finally smiles (both ready to jump off) they both jumped off happily and the boy died.. the girl didnt because she never existed. The boy was the one with thanatos the whole time and the girl was his grim reaper.

A part of the music video reminds me of my narcolepsy hallucinations I literally fall into the sky in these hallucinations with a guy holding on to me from behind me almost comforting me because of the fact that I used to be scared of these narcolepsy hallucinations . And once in these hallucinations he held on to my arms almost telling me I shouldn't be scared anymore

The official story by the author is that she's imaginary, but I like to think of it as a metaphor for a guy letting a girl's smile make him forget all his problems. It could be a codependent relationship, unhealthy attachment, or the girl could be a metaphor for alcohol or anything else.

Explanation that is prob wrong also the song is inspired by seduction of thanos or tatanos cant remember but here is the wrong or prob right explanation: so the girl was trying to suicide but the boy didnt want her to and they ended falling inlove and then the girl keeps talking about the god of death and that she was meant to die because she was like the chosen one thingy the boy didnt like her talking about it because he didnt want to let her go one day the girl made her decision and she wants to die but the boy didnt want her so he joined her when they both jumped. The boy died the girl Said "do u understand it now? " The boy hapilly said "yes u are my god of death" so the girl wasnt the chosen one thingy she was the god of death and the boy was the chosen one and the girl is seducing the boy to come suicide with her so that idk

Hey! Dunno if you’ll read this, but this song is based on a story called “the seduction of Thanatos”. Long story short, The girl is the guy’s interpretation of the grim reaper / Thanatos, which eventually seduces the man and makes him commit suicide by himself; which explains the final shot of only the man dying, while the girl is still alive.
