Great review. Debi & I went on 2 Hawaiian cruises in ‘06 & ‘07. I believe the boat was called ‘Radiance of the Seas’ . The entertainment was outstanding, the food was wonderful. Our only complaint was the coke package we purchased on the 1 st cruise. They would always make me wait for a long time to refill. On our next cruise we brought along a collapsible ice chest and had our room steward fill it with ice. We’d go into town and bring a couple of 12 packs with us and so it’d end up costing a few bucks for a weeks worth of soda. Even the captain of the boat remarked what a good idea that was. We’d get up early and run around the boat in the am and receive boat dollars to exchange for boat embossed gear like caps and tees. We always recommend getting a private balcony. A little pricey but well worth it. After all , cruise boats were always meant for the well-healed, yet they’re getting more & more inexpensive. Thankyou !

I just booked the ALLURE OF THE SEAS FOR A FALL CRUISE OUT OF GALVESTON with some trepidation about boarding such a mega ship and your review confirmed my fears about large ship cruising. Thanks for your honest and measured pros and cons. I have heard much the same from other reviews on KZread. I am still hoping for a relaxing and enjoyable week of cruising. This will be my wife's and my 20th cruise; we are considerably older than you all are, but we are looking for essentially for the same kind of cruise experience...expectations.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Just for your future knowledge, for the soda package, you do not have to buy it for everyone in the cabin. That is true for the deluxe package but the soda and refreshment packages can be purchased for just one person, you just uncheck the names of any passengers who don't want it when purchasing it. You can also use the soda package at any bar, not just the freestyle machines. Hopefully that helps with deciding if the soda package is a consideration in the future :) I'm not a soda drinker but I do like the refreshment package 🎉

@@DavisDuoTravel next time if you do get the soda package, just skip those soda machines. I was on this cruise and had this package and never once used that machine. i got all my sodas from the bars. Those machine lines are crazy and i dont think people knew you could go elsewhere. Hope you guys give this ship another try. Great review though!!

I was going to say the same. You are only required to purchase the package for everyone with the alcohol package (deluxe drink pkg).

I enjoyed your review as it was very well done. My husband and I have been on 65 cruises since 2014 and I make notes on each one. The Allure of The Seas food was so so....just as you said. We only cruise on Carnival and Royal. Prior Pandemic, the shows were great but I believe the ships lost a lot of performers when they sought other work during that time. We sailed on the Mardi Gras 8 times with another scheduled in January. I love that ship and one reason is it is the only ship in the Carnival fleet that have so many complimentary eating venues. When the ship was built, it was evident that the dining rooms could not accompany all the passengers; thus, the other eating venues to relieve dining room over flow.

Oasis class is my favorite class. I'm 48, but I absolutely LOVE the fun physical things. I spend hours every day on the flowrider. 😊 I only ever felt crowded leaving shows. But i have a good idea of where to go to avoid crowds. Royal recently did away with the classics on their menu, so you can no longer get repeats at dinner. Surprisingly, it caused outrage. A lot of people want those same things, I guess. Dead on about no push notifications for their messaging. Makes it worthless. Thanks four your review. I'm on allure in 2 weeks and can't wait! ❤

If this is the June 4th-11th cruise I feel the same. We could hear the teenagers running up and down the halls at night. This cruise was full of teenagers, some very rude. For the soda package we only had to buy for my husband, the alcohol package was the one that had to be purchased by all occupants of the cabin. Also the soda package can be used at the bars.

Thank you for the information. As a result of your experience, we’ve decided not to cruise this ship; it’s simply too big. One of the things that could improve this review would be better sound-the room echo made this very hard to understand for my wife.
