    I love the way that you can just keep adding after getting an answer back from the company they didn't see a limit to how many you can put on a bus bar, it seems the controllers have a responding voltage reaction this 2% to 5% under the reading you would get from the bus far so it means that they would all charge equally without any default. Kind of goofy but it means that somebody could just put 8 of them in, hook it to some 4 gauge heading to the battery Bank, then repeat.

    I have this exact mppt solar charger. It seems to charge good but it does get very hot. Mine was so hot that I unplugged it. Someone on Amazon posted pics of this controller that caught on on fire. I would suggest you keep an eye on it if you are using it for days and days. I have been using a Lensun 20amp waterproof mppt solar charge controller with two Sunpower 100 watt flexible solar panels on the roof of the cap of my truck. Running my Setpower RV45D 12v refrigerator/freezer with a DIY 640ah LiFePO4 battery and I have never run the battery below 78%. Having ice cream in the middle of nowhere is very cool.

One guy had a picture up of 2 he put taped together in a plastic 4x4 box on Amazon and people roasted him for them failing in a hot box so he took the picture down.

  • @JOHNDANIEL1

    @JOHNDANIEL1

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes, I have done several with a MPPT but you have to use a pair of DC 2200uf 150 volt capacitors inline without a resistor or the MPPT will freak out from the pulses of the rectified DC.

  • @baneverything5580

    I got one of these simple 10 amp MPPT charge controller with SAE connectors, plus a 16 foot long MC4 cable with SAE plug, a polarity adapter if needed, and an SAE connector about 6 feet long with alligator battery clips. I quickly plugged all the parts together so I won`t misplace them. I plan to use these 10 amp controllers to add individual solar panels to my system for an added boost. And like you said here....they add some redundancy to your setup in case your main charge controller quits during an emergency. I also have solar power stations that I can charge up then dump their charge into my big 300ah battery with a plug-in 300 watt LiFeP04 charger. My big system is also great for charging up my Bluetti EB70 power stations because they charge faster with their wall chargers than with solar panels so I can quickly load that energy into my big battery in one to four hours on bad solar days and finish charging the power stations with their chargers. I use the two EB70s for my 5 cubic ft freezer. If a hurricane hits us again and I have garden food, catfish, or 5 gallons of blackberries for Winter I can`t let it ruin. If you have receipts for your food right before a hurricane the government will cover the loss...but not the stuff you grew, hunted, foraged or farmed yourself.

    It's very close, but I did do one and a 100 watt 5p solar panel and the 4 piece kit from harbor freight was a VERY close total output on 3 days with 278 watts more from the HF kit over 3 days. ( 2.75 hours more total power from HF amorphous total @ 3 days) so about 95 watts more a day

    Do you refer to the 4 piece 100 watt kits or their 100 watt panel? Honestly, the price of their panels are too high, BUT if you have the roof space and understand HOURS of production from solar, then the 4 piece Amorphous kit actually makes more total power in a day than any 100 watt panel other than the RS-M100 watt 5BB panel does, and its under $68 so I have them mostly for my installed system.

    The panel may have a issue, the solution is 1/4" hardware cloth made to fit over them if chances are high for diversion of a EMP and the controller would be safe if removed and stored during such risk events.

    I notcied you have a perfect suitor charge controler. I bought a 50 amp, supposedly Mppt new model last summer. John i was wondering how to tell if its actually a mppt vrs a pwm, and has it gave you any issues to date?

  • @JOHNDANIEL1

    @JOHNDANIEL1

    Жыл бұрын

    I use the cheap PWM for balancing my well pump circuit, PWM is better for solar water well pumping. The Perfect Suitor is a Wu Long Guanxi product, dirt cheap, should not be in high heat areas without a cooling fan, but is durable otherwise. As for a MPPT, the controller must have a transformer and a logic boosting circuit. 90% of the controllers sold claiming mppt are fakes. If it don't have the weight, the transformers and extra large capacitors it is not a genuine MPPT. The small controller on here uses a hybrid MPPT so even it is not a pure true MPPT, its got a internal boost circuit, curve tracking, much better than a PWM, but it is over 95% effective compared to 81% average on a regular PWM.

    Thank you Mr Daniel. This looks like an amazing option for me for all sorts of reasons. Do you think this can handle more than one 100w 5.6 amp panels in series or a 200w panel that can go over 10 amps? Is there any circuitry in these things to deal with slightly too much amperage? I saw a mini controller like this that comes with a DIY MC4 connector kit. I`ll try to look up the specs because I can`t see the screen very well. But this is an option that I can add to my emergency solar system a whole lot easier on my fixed income to help get my solar charging up to the right level to keep up with my small window air conditioner. They should be ran independently to the battery from each solar panel. 10 amps is stretching it on these controllers. 100 watt panel will peak at over 7.5 amps and that's a warm controller doing it. I am using 4 more 100w ran to 4 controllers to boost my water pump house batteries, it has 800 watts on it, but Kiera keeps running her tools off the inverter in there and it needs it. I asked for and got a 20% off to buy 3 more so they will work with people sometimes.

    @@JOHNDANIEL1 PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: We are down to our last pallet. These solar panels are PERFECT for many applications because they are flexible, can be glued down, and work for many different surfaces curved and flat. The best part is these can be shipped Fedex ground and we fit 2 in a box. No expensive freight. You get 2 solar panels for this price (288w total). Excellent option for many different solar projects, especially one where you can't or don't want to use mounting brackets or if you have a curved surface like an RV roof. They were used for 5 years on a building that was taken down. These were originally mounted with velcro. The velcro is still on it so you can just reuse that or peel the paper back and stick it down. Flexible solar panels like this are very expensive but of course we have a great deal on them, way better shipping costs, no mounting brackets needed, and can install on any surface. These can be completely rolled up so they are more flexible and soft than any other solar panel out there. We tested every solar panel, cleaned them off the best we could, and they all come with about 2 feet of wire connectors. Below is the specs of these solar panels. Note that these are used so they may have some dirt and minor imperfections but they are fully functional. These jump starters have a critical flaw, using their 12 volt function gives a output of 14.6 volts. Many things don't like voltage over 14.0 to immediately work, they will handle 15 volt spike that like a car alternator causes when it short period. But like my 12 volt refrigerators they just turn off till volts drop under 14 before responding. It's the electronics reaction to prevent voltage spike damage. They even say it in their documents to run them on 11.0 to 14.0 range. Protection like a inverter has. Solution is to regulate it to exactly 13.8 and no higher. Even a 12 volt camera faulted and now won't work trying it on the claimed 12 volt port. A jump starter, is a rare and occasional item for use, having 20 amps of 12 volt power is a constant want and desire to use and good reason to buy one. So you can see my quandary and problem. Maybe an adapter cord that has a voltage reducer built into it? You may notice that items you plug into your cigarette lighter in your car will turn off while you're starting your car and for the first few seconds after you start your car that outlet in your car will be off to avoid bad voltage surge. But with these jump starters it's immediate full 14.6 volts because the 3.7 batteries cause that and they're not regulated internally. I haven't yet found one that is and a lot of people have been complaining about this same problem.

    Truth about the Lithium (LiFePO4) is you will get what you pay for, and mostly you get less. But if you have some slight credit rating, you can get Affirm on Amazon. It's easy, even with less than 575 credit and it DOES NOT cost you extra or a ding on your credit. Go to amzn.to/3uwC8Js , then under the selection of batteries look for the AFFIRM note. Believe it or not, Buying it right now will save you more than the cost of any financing, you can pay off without penalty, I've done it 8 times and only paid about 5%, plus when you consider inflation is out of control the same items may be $50 more in a few months! A added bonus is if the complete financial system goes to hell, YOU have the product, They have them empty bag LOL!

    Instead of the inductor transformer being a wire wrapped ball, its wound around the interior board, thus the shape. Being its only 10 amp, it does not need to be huge. (secret, it's only 9.15 amp actual so do not try to run over 118 watts through it). As for MPPT, it will take 12 volts and charge at 14.8 and do it without losses.

    To fully charge a 300 ah battery in one day, the average summer day you need over 800 watts minimum of solar, over 1200 watts in winter. Depending on your set up, mounting, panel angles, shade and wire used would affect that outcome. Basic solar sizing is: Calculate 1400 watts per 100 AH of battery per hour (same as 300 watts of solar X 4.65 hours a day of peak sun) Then your supply is equal to your storage, I always double that so you account for usage while charging.

    Get you at least 400 more watts, preferably 600, your using as your charging at a near equal rate. The summer nights in your area love to be 80 degrees, so curtain off your sleeping area, cut and fit 1/2" foam in your windows for now, so your AC runs less, use a brushless 200mm fan to help keep you cool when it cycles. The AC unit in your area will use 10% more power, that's because your inhaling pure humidity, makes them work harder. I know your having to piece it together, if you drive out my way I'll send you home with a extra battery and controllers to charge up on the grid or generator for hard nights in your area till your checks catch up with your spending needs.
