Another Pros for alloy wheels are when air passes through the front & rear wheels were the front disc brake unit & rear disc brake unit(if equipped) rear drum brake unit wont get over heated while braking because the air itself cools the units. That is why i had chosen Wagon-R Stingray over the regular Wagon-R.

A car variant comes with alloy wheel by default. Is it advisable to change to steel wheels?

As explained the major disadvantage is the durability due to heavy impact on bad roads which is common in India . Due to the impact ..alloy wheel bends which gives wobbling which gives need to change tyres by mistake instead of wheels . So it's a tricky situation only by having a car appearance. No assurance in fuel economy or suspension . It's just for cosmetic appearances . Best to go for a car with inbuilt best wheels .cosmetic changes cost later lot .
