Allotment Life | Tackling The Plot | Preparing The Ground
More covering and preparing for spring. The days are getting colder and I really needed to get the final bits of the plot covered and prepped ready for Spring.
As it’s gets colder, there are less ground jobs to do, but I’ve still got quite a few jobs that need doing.

How exciting to get stuck in. Thanks for watching. I recommend my Tackling The Plot and Transforming The Plot series for ideas, but hopefully all videos will give you ideas of what to do. My plot was completely overgrown and un-useable when I took it over and it’s been a long hard road, but it’s nearly how I want it to be. Don’t give up, it’s hard work, but so worth it.
Good job with the tarp when it comes off ground would be easier to work 😊

That’s the plan. I used it a bit at the start when I first got the plot, but this is a much bigger area.
First off excellent Mark you tipped 100 subs keep going 👍. Great idea about the tarps and yep if it kills off the weeds then it’s a bonus come spring. That’s me the clod I’m always tripping or banging my head 😂😂. Spring will be a very exciting time and I for one can’t wait. Have a super week keep warm and stay safe 🎄🧑🎄⛄️👍

Thanks for your comments and thanks for watching. Episode 3 is already in the can! 🤣
Nice work…. Please watch out on some of the wood you’ve weighed your tarp down with tho… I spotted nails sticking out x

Yes, I couldn’t get much wood without nails in. Definitely don’t want an accident!
Put cardboard and woodchips around the fruit bushes........keep down weeds and will also rot down.

Thanks for suggestion. I’ve been collecting cardboard, as I’ll be doing some no dig beds, but didn’t think about use it around the tree.
Can I ask how many square metres your plot is please? mine is 62.5m Sq

Hi. It’s 15m x 7m which is 105 square meters. If you check out my Planning The Plot video here: Allotment Life | Planning The Plot kzread.info/dash/bejne/nH5o1rukZMu1o6w.html it goes into some detail about the measurements and what I wanted to do with the plot.
That might be foxes digging where the rhubarb was. Hopefully not moles.

@@donnastacey7227 I've heard kids windmills gets rid of moles.........they don't like the vibrations
In freezing weather I would suggest you avoid walking on the beds

There’s no actual beds at the moment. The covering is to kill the weeds/grass etc so next year I can make the beds. I only have 2 working beds, which aren’t covered.
Wondering if the previous plot holder came and took the rhubarb crown?

I had brought one down to the plot from home. No spoilers, but it was there just extra hidden :)
