Most of Agawam/Feeding Hills tuned in whenever Jeff Atkins, Charlie Jutras, or Alfie Johnson were on the show. Growing up in the ‘60s Candlepin Bowling on Saturdays was the thing to do! Agreed, Jeff belongs in the HOF.
Tom Olszta Was So Exciting To Watch! He Is Definitely The G. O. A. T. In Candlepin Bowling!👌😀🎳

I had the privilege of bowling in a pro-am with tom many years ago and thanks to him we took 1st place and pocketed some good cash
Maybe the two best ever.
I miss the old channel 5 show. It really showed off the best candlepin bowlers in the world. They ruined it when they started changing the time around on Saturday mornings. Don Gillis was a great announcer for the show. And Tom Olszta was simply the best bowler of them all.
WOW what a spare by Tom at 4:08. G.O.A.T

19 straight Ch. 5 matches ! Not bad ol’ buddy !
This should be called "the 130's show."
Both guys high singles over 200 high triples over 500 averages over 135. Just incredible.

@@bentheswitchsportsfan06 I think maybe he thought I was referring to their scores on the show. It's all good no harm no foul. Easy mistake to make I guess... Tho did he really think they each bowled a 200 game and a 500 triple in this clip? Lol.
tumble pins! use to bowl duckpins with candlepin rules, no clearing wood for fun; but I use to be 190+ average ten pin bowler, couple leagues a week, pot bowling on Saturday mornings, the good old days....
I bowled in a summer league at Park Place 15 years ago and Gary Carrington eventually dropped out a few weeks in along with Dave Richards to play golf for the summer according to what I was told. Maybe Gary was miffed that his average for that league had "dropped" down to 141! :-) Of course, everyone knows how fast Park Place can be.
139 average? must be very early in the season? that's crazy!

These two were just that good.
At 30:40 I suppose this is a legal shot because, although wood in the gutter took out the 2 pin, that wood was not the first thing hit (or was never hit) by the ball. Is that right?

As long as the ball makes legal contact with anything on the pin plate, after that, anything goes.

It's obviously legal.
139 AVERAGE?!?!?!?! O_O

Fast Western MA houses. But Jeff was still elite. Might be my imagination but it seems like Jeff always finished strong.
i always wondered what kind of money these guys made from their bowling over the years, two top of the heap bowlers.
I hope Tommy cashed in all those Rotmans gift certificates. 😂
