Allen Weisselberg takes the stand in Trump civil fraud trial

They all did. The witness for Deutsche Bank stated the bank did their own calculations... That is not the issue The main point of the trial is to prove Trump massaged the values to avoid paying property taxes...ok-so Property A is worth a market rate of +/- $100 million Banks will use +/- 50% of the value as collateral - So Trump can borrow $50 million. Trump values the property at $500 million - Trump can now borrow $250 million. Trump tried that when he wanted to buy the Football team - Banks blew him out..Not enough collateral. So for taxes -$100 million - tax rate of 'X' Trump values property at $14 million... Tax liability goes down by 86% Nice work if you can get it.

In this trial he can't use the 5th, and if there is a constant stream of "I don't recall" answers, the judge or jury would likely consider that as evasive and this could (and should) be used in the decision. I suspect the judge here is counting every "I don't remember" spoken by Weisellberg and a reasonable person on a jury, or a judge in a bench trial would conclude that this was done to avoid the appearance of criminal activity.

As always the victims are the people of New York. Because the banks gave the excess money to the Trump organization, that was money that could have been given to a mom and pop startup. Fraud ALWAYS has a victim and it's usually not evident nor is it required to be.

Banks usually rely on the financial information provided by financial accountants when dealing with businesses. These financial accountants can be held accountable and go to jail for fraud along with the companies owners, CEO and CFO. For starters. Other people or businesses in the same tax location are affected by this fraud. The insurance companies are affected by fraud - did they pay anything out based on fraudulent info? I could go on and on, but I won't. Speaking as a business person (Financial Accountant), I'll just say it's a big deal and damages many.
