This season, the most minutes per game is Demar Derozan at 37.6 minutes. AI averaged 41.1 mins for a whole career in the 90s and 00s. In the league right now he run circles around EVERY body for 48 mins EVERY game.

@mitchell2432 Players today play fewer minutes in order to avoid injuries and the wear and tear of the game. This decision is not based on competition, but rather on the request of players who possess the level of talent such as AI, who would be better than 95% of the league in any era. If we were to bring AI from the 2000s to this era, he would still play the same amount of minutes as he wouldn't want to come out, and the team would oblige unless he had injuries that prevented him from playing.

Players who played in the 00s played in the late mid 10-20s and every last on of them did not play even 38 minutes per game. Kobe, Bron, CP3, etc. All players play less, because there are more players that are worthy of playing minutes and it's in the best interest of the top guys to play less minutes to prolong their careers.

You surround him with other threats, he gets easier shots, which increases efficiency. The game is wide open now and primarily Pick and roll, which means he gets easier shots.. which increases efficiency. He also would benefit from how smaller players get calls in today's game. Windy said he would be targeted on defense as tho the majority of the guards in the league are these defensive dynamos, he at least led the league in steals multiple times!! Guys like AI, Kobe, even Michael, are some of my favorites, but they couldn’t win today taking tons of difficult 2 point shots. They would have to adjust their game to become better facilitators and more efficient. Teams would put 3 point snipers all around them so you can’t double/triple team

Let’s talk numbers then nerd, when AI averaged 33ppg the league average was 97, today it’s 115, the average pace was 90, now it’s 99, now lets talk ball, there’s more space and they play less aggressive defense.
