Alleged drunk driver plows into crowd on July 4th | LiveNOW from FOX

Three people were killed after an alleged drunk driver plowed his vehicle into a crowd inside a NYC park in Lower Manhattan, striking 11 people right in the middle of 4th of July celebrations, the NYPD said.
According to police, a 44-year-old man - identified by police as Daniel Hyden - was driving a Gray Ford F-150 sped down Water Street through an intersection on Thursday just before 9 p.m., drove up onto the sidewalk and plowed into people gathered in Corlears Hook Park, just off the FDR Drive.
Police say three of the four victims under the truck died. All three, authorities say, were adults. Two of the victims have been identified as 59-year-old Lucille Pinkney, and her son, 38-year-old Hernan Pinkney.
Hyden, of Monmouth Junction, New Jersey, was charged with multiple counts of driving while under the influence and driving without a license.
"You have a tragic incident like this that really impacts family members who were just here celebrating and barbecuing inside a park," says NYC Mayor Eric Adams.
One person remains in critical condition, the NYPD said.

This is one isolated incident out of the 285 million who were estimated to have celebrated the 4th of July. The media is fulfilling it's purpose with you and the 52 people who agreed with you. Media: FEAR, FEAR, FEAR, WAR, CRIME RATES, FAMINE, RACISM, GENOCIDE, END OF DEMOCRACY, DEATH AND DESTRUCTION, 110 year old lady, FEAR, END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT... I think you get my point, right? The odds of this happening to you is 1 in 23,750,000. If you continue to live live like that. You have better odds of choking on food than this happening to you.

I agree with no bond, and life imprisonment would be appropriate, but there must *always* be a trial. 1st its a constitutional right. Second, while this case seems pretty clear cut, what if the police messed up and arrested the wrong person? Even if they didn't (as is likely,) if people started being punished without a trial, as the numbers increased, innocent people would end up being punished. So there must always be a fair trial, but after conviction, the maximum punishment in an egregious case such as this.

Banning aside, Imagine for a moment how much more often this would happen if there were no consequences. Your comment reads like you prefer a lawless society. Laws act as a deterrent. Having laws for acts of violence is objectively better for society, unless you like inflicting pain and suffering on others.

EVERY time we hear of someone killed in a drunk driving accident.. crickets. This story and the names of the lives lost will be forgotten in days and never spoken of again by the media, yet we hear about mass shooting anniversaries every single year.

Quick everyone, you must give up your current vehicles and accept to drive only vehicles that can be programmed and controlled by govt and their on-behalf companies, or none at all, to prevent tragedies such as this, that happen to be on the rise in the news, that's owned by the same people that want such policies put into place, over the past several years. Safety and Security and the children, remember.

To avoid legal ramifications if it is found to be not true. They literally have to say alleged until the courts pass judgment. Whole innocent until proven guilty, even when you have 100% proof, you still have to legally use allegedly to avoid lawsuits, etc.

Drunks are the most self righteous, ignoramuses by choice… The choice to drink, choose to drive, now your choices are finished. It’s time we as a society, no longer encourage excessive alcohol abuse… It’s a drug, a liquid, sedative, depressant drug… Far more accepted than it should be.. also highly addictive as well..Why do drunk drivers never die, but innocents do?

@seekingthetruth2748 it wouldn't work too well in this time period. Cameras everywhere, plenty of ways to be tested for the substance . It would weed out the alcoholics very quickly as the idiots would still be doing the same stuff they always do. If people wanna risk life imprisonment to make and sell alcohol, by all means, go for it. But this is 2024, not the 1930's. If they banned alcohol, it would fill the prisons very quickly until the useless drunks were removed from the population. Then the casual drinkers would just do it behind closed doors. I'm not a drinker and my father made me miserable growing up. Each car ride I never knew if I was gonna make it to our destination. Absolutely wouldn't miss alcohol being gone and I'd wager those that have had their loved ones murdered would feel the same way. Completely useless substance for our consumption.
