A common misconception about endurance racing is that its a 24 hour endurance race but instead its actually 24 one hour sprint races in a row.

Dylan the type of guy to have a new, clean logo, and not call unnecessary attention to it.

Great content Dylan, love seeing new people enjoying IMSA. The only thing I would add is that within each class there are 2 championships going on at the same time, those being the full season IMSA Championship and the Michelin Endurance Championship. The MEC consists of Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen, Indy and Road Atlanta and are the only races where all 4 classes race together. Teams are able to run the full season or just the MEC rounds, like Lamborghini this year are just running the MEC rounds, aswell as Iron Lynx and Iron Dames in GTD aswell, so for anyone new if your favourite car or team isnt racing in any of the "sprint" races that is why. On the full season entry lists, the teams in blue are just running the MEC while the ones in black are running the full season.

This is a great beginners guide, well done and welcome to the world of IMSA!

I went to my first IMSA race last year at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut. It was a lot of fun, even if it was hard to follow at first for a first timer like me. I also got to see Robert Wickens driving in the Michelin Pilot Challenge race!

The 2500 annual production rule seems to be more of a suggestion given Aston Martin and McLaren have been continually permitted to run GTs despite years they didn't reach those levels of sales, and the fact it's an open secret Lotus would also be allowed back if they wanted. Also of note is the fact Sebring is the largest event on the calendar, not Daytona. It has about three times as much attendance as Daytona and gets the highest level of viewership.

This is a fantastic guide. My only "gripe" is Sebring being the place where endurance racing was born. In the US maybe, as it's older than Daytona, but by the construction of the track in 1950, Le Mans and other races had been going on for a while. Still, great video.

Much like several other forms of motorsports, endurance racing saw its birth in France.

It's great to explore other racing categories. I usually watch mostly F1 (and F2, F3) Starting watching IndyCar in 2021 and last year i started watching WEC and IMSA. There is great racing in these!

IMSA rocks!!!! Best series on earth😊

Now all you have to do is start watching NASCAR and you'll complete the modern American Motorsports trifecta

Wasn’t wec and imsa supposed to have a car that could compete in both series and races ie Daytona and Le Mans

LMDh and LMH can compete in IMSA. But WEC is more interesting to manufacturers because it's a global sport.

LMDh and LMH cars can compete in both IMSA and WEC. Some manufacturers and cars will do both Daytona and Le Mans. @@randygravel2057 LMH and LMDh regs were designed to be similar in pace and I haven’t seen anything to indicate that either ruleset is inherently faster. There are differences (the LMH has a better hybrid system, but can only deploy it above a certain speed) but the the weight, power, downforce, etc. are pretty similar from what I’ve heard. Also the LMDh are slightly newer and less developed in general. Either way they will be balanced by the BoP in each series. Towards the end of WEC last year, the Porsche LMDh was very competitive. In short, we’ll see. This year will be awesome for top class prototype racing.
