I really love how this brings a sense of individuality to each character. It was nice that people unlocked different combat arts (besides the default ones) in Three Houses, but I love that their fighting styles all actually look different here. I really love the cast of characters in this game and it's good to see the uniqueness of each one.

I love how Linhardt is tilting his head up and down, trying not to fall asleep.

The class and build system in this game is so much better than 3 houses. Like tank + brawlers are actually good and in balthus case over powered. I hated that in 3 houses everyone who wasn't a mage had to be wyvern lord for 10-20 levels it was really boring now we actually have so many creative ways to grow now.

depends on RNG if you dont use wyvern lord you can get trolled hard building for example on sword master you could get really unlucky and get mag stats which is pretty much useless unless you are going for a levin/blutang build and in my opinion I dont like levin i want my wind edge back

Isn’t Marianne’s Three Hopes preferred class the Bishop line? Well I guess female Warlocks and Bishops both end up in Gremory I’m pretty sure the preferred classes in Three Hopes are what they are as enemies in Three Houses, which is why Marianne’s preferred class isn’t the Cavalier line

@@joeyjose727 yeah but gauntlet A and bow B mortal savant Felix is a thing because he prefers all of that despite being bad at reason Even his weapons are all different, he have a sacred weapon, sword of zoltan, and the shield The devs are aware of how their characters work so they make their weakness and strength same with stats based on their personality and even names are ironic like Bernadette meaning brave bear, Felix meaning luck who have average luck level, and Dimitri being follower of a god helping the church in every route both games So it’s likely that the devs made holy knight with sword Marianne’s preferred class and weapon but made her strong with reason even though it’s not her strength And no one would want all that powerful stats to go to waste because Marriane prefer holy knight

@@joeyjose727 One note, and honestly the only real downside of these Unique Specials - while there are exceptions, a lot of characters actually *stop* using their Unique Special once they move from Advanced to their Master Class, and if you like those unique specials it's rather disappointing.

I really like how unique everyone's specials are. Some repeat certain moves, but overall everyone has at least a unique beginning or ending to their animation. Special mention to Mercedes for just sitting down to pray and then nuking the field though. That was funny to watch

Man this makes me want to play it even more now. Seeing Felix's special made me remember what an absolute beast of a unit he was in my playthrough, same with Dorothea as dancer class.

Are advanced classes greatly uderpowered compeared to master classes? Or is just a small stat change? I haven't started the game yet (Free time? Whats that? Can I eat it?) so I'm not sure how that works

@@diegotimon4570 It’s not too drastic of a difference. The main difference is the weapon buster skill (and access to magic in sylvains case) but if you’re fine giving that up and about 10% damage go ahead and go for aesthetics. Most units learn a breaker skill that will fix make up for the lack of a tier 5 buster skill

@@diegotimon4570 Oh another thing, promoting to higher classes will permanently raise the weapon skill of the character, letting them perform more combos, even within the lower classes. So you could promote a unit to master class, max out its efficiency, and return back to a lower class to keep their unique special attack.

It's only unique if they're in the preferred class example being Dorothea only does hers if she's a gremory or Felix if his swordmaster otherwise it's just the class special

Something cool I noticed is that all of the mage units with crests put their tomes away for their unique special attack, but the crest-less mages keep their tome out. Part of the whole crests give magical prowess thing.

A shame the game is covered in clones, it makes characters feel the same outside of ZR abilities and a lot of them are underwhelming. If she had a unique moveset they could have given her way more beast summons. Typical koei laziness.

I feel like 3 hopes fixes a major issue that 3 houses suffered from and that was all non magic users meta growth was with wyvern lord. Now in this game you have so many options to grow in you don't have to be wyvern lord or gremory the whole time until you hit optimal stats for a build. Plus to top it off stat items refill every ng+ so even if you do mess up just run ng+ again to fix it.

Actually, in 3H, at least from what I'm aware of the most meta non-magic class (and probably most meta class in general) was Sniper, primarily because Hunters Volley is kinda stupid broken, and I'm pretty sure gauntlets were also pretty meta, as of course again, Brave-effects, but in part also because War Masters get Quick Riposte which basically has Wary Fighter built in, although they might've gone back to Grappler because I think their unique Combat Art was also quite good. So it's really only axe, lance and flying-units that primarily would've been promoted into Wyvern Lords, with in general the Fighter-class tree being the best for most strength-focused units. Magic users were in a way worse spot in Three Houses in that they either probably wanted Gremory, or all the male ones primarily Dark Knight, with Linhardt best staying a Bishop. At least until the DLC gave at least females a better option in Dark Fliers.

Why are you comparing the two games in a mechanical standpoint when they are not even the same genre of game, 3 houses is an turn based RPG, 3 hopes is hack and slash, I say if you were to compare the story of 3 hopes honestly seemed to fix up the issues of 3 houses story, like giving character we heard of in 3 houses an actual character that impacts the story like Holst and Bergliez

I feel as though the story of this game was better than 3 houses, I personally believe that they upgraded the 2 storylines that needed it, (black eagles significantly/golden deer) as for blue lions I still like the 3 house iteration more

Marianne has Blutgang and Annette has Crusher, but they both have magic based specials. At least in Mariannes case it does make a bit of sense with Dorte. It is also very strange that Sothis and Arval have no unique classes

I do wish Leonie included a bow somewhere, but hers has a really nice pace and I love how she uses Jeralts spear technique with her own in a rush down, very in character (like all of them really).

I actually found Shez's weapon it's the Killing Edge. Plus Dedue uses the Tomahawk.

Flayn is T-posing enemies to death. And that laugh of Constance was amazing. It sounds so evil.

in anticipation of this game i had restarted my third ng+ run on three houses which is also my third blue lions run and recruited more people i didnt get first time round and rn i have mortal savant lysithea and its actually quite deadly.

Byleths is slightly different if you have the sword of the creator equipped

I love how the moment with more reproductions is the guard's part.

i hate how you literally have to demote Jeralt to Paladin to see his Special because for some reason Holy/Dark knight override the cav special animations

The thing is with Sacred Weapons they can be used by anyone, having the matching Crest just Boosts all healing effects, so anyone as a Lance class can use Spear of Assal and not just Seteth, but with Hero Relics anyone can use them as well but without the matching Crest they will take damage

@@BlackRose88-04 they're talking about how some units can't use their unique weapons while in their preferred classes. Like how Seteth is a Wyvern Rider and is locked to axes, but his signature weapon is a spear.

@@wingedbluj1674 Well they would had to make a move set for Lance welding Wyvern Riders so unlike in Three House in which they can use any weapon as any class, but unlike most people i don't make a big of not being able to use Spear of Assal as Seth as his cannon class

Looks like Ignatz has taken a page out of Splatoon, since his special attack covers the terrain with ink.

It’s still strange to me that most of them lose their unique warrior move if they’re master class

arval’s special is basically a reskin from the mage specials in the original fire emblem warriors games hehe

funny how caspars unique has to be an ax but he always uses gauntlets as an enemy unit edit here: i also find it funny how they brought back the trickster class but not the war monk, Valkyrie and dark flier class

I just noticed edelgard is fully fiery and i got excited over her since she's even my favorite class related unit i just love the fire and heavy armor combination

Edelgard’s unique classes should’ve really been able to use magic in this game and Houses

Honestly sucks that Byleth doesn't get the sword of the creator because of story reasons -- fits the animation so well.

You can get it, but only in the renown shop after beating the game.

@@NecromancerLuna Well not Sword of the Creator, it's the upgraded one in the renown shop after beating the game, which is Sublime Creator Sword along slide with Dark Creator Sword, Athame, Ridill and Asclepius, so four swords and 1 staff

Edelgard, Felix and Catherine all do basically a Judgement Cut End and I'm surprised to see nobody talking about it. Catherine even does the "delayed damage" part as well.

Edelgard braking fe rules by being fast as a armored class

Everyone being able to use little bits of magic regardless of class is still one of my favourite things in Hopes. Would be nice if more classes had access to actual magic but whatever.

I just realize Jeralt and Leonie end their special the same way.

I hope when you do class specific and generic specials you show the Triangle Attack special which you only get by having 3 Pegasus Knights near each other while initiating.

@@FazFaz there is a reddit post about it called "TIL that you can do the triangle attack in three hopes" that did it with a stun gauge break

I just kinda want to point out that Arval’s unique warrior special in this game is incredibly similar to Tharja’s in the first FE Warriors game

I love bernie and felix Especially felix because I was fighting edelgard (sorry I can’t spell) and all the quick slashes knocked her back and once she got up she says something like “is that all?” And then he made his clones and finished her off

I knew it. Byleth fighting style is a fusion of Robin and Corrin. Or at least just the perfect balance of power, speed and magic.

@@VioletLunaChan Byleth actually uses Fire, Thunder, and Light. The Warrior special just has them shooting fireballs, but their actual moveset incorporates all 3 elements which are of course referencing their learned spell list.

Byleth is more akin to Sheik from Hyrule Warriors with his element channeling for buffs and alternative attacks

Fun fact: Due to his paints constantly changing elements, Ignatz makes for one of the best characters to fight Demonic Beasts without wasting Weapon Arts or depending on characters like Claude, Dimitri and Edelgard, and his Warrior art can pretty much insta break up to 4 shields at the same time (depending what the beast is weak to)

A shame that for some of these characters, they end up losing their unique special animation due to Master classes or a Hero Relic

Equipping a Hero's Relic or not makes no difference - it's 100% about whether or not they're in the correct class. It's just that, for some people **coughAnnettecough** their Hero Relic requires them to go into the wrong class for their unique special, since this game does restrict weapon type by class, rather than letting anyone use any weapon type.

@@Blazieth Yeah, that's what I meant. Some characters have to go off their main path for their Hero's Relic and thus lose their unique special. Also it happens to *coughMariannecough* too
