"Isolation is a gift". At first I thought only crazy people loved to be alone. And I tried. And I understood that it was the first time of my life I really be myself. It feels like all my life, I lived what people want me to be. Thanks Bukowski and this vidéo who opened my heart and soul!

I got “go all the way” in script on my inner bicep. A daily reminder to keep going. I read it in the voice from the video haha
"You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It's the only good fight there is." I love this part. Whatever it is, do it and go all the way. It might seem nothing to others but it is something to you. That's all that matters.

Original : roll the dice if you’re going to try it, go all the way. otherwise, don’t get into it. if you’re going to try it, go all the way. this could mean losing girlfriends, wives, relatives, jobs and maybe your mind. go all the way. it could mean not eating for 3 or 4 days. it could mean freezing on a park bench. it could mean jail, alcoholism. it could mean derision, mockery, isolation. the isolation is the gift, all the other is a test of your guts, how much you really want to do it. and you’ll do it against total rejection and the highest of odds but it will be better than doing anything else you can think of. if you’re going to try it, go all the way. there is no other feeling like it. you will be alone with the gods and the nights will flame with fire. do it, do it, do it. do it. all the way. all the way. you will ride death straight to hell, your perfect laughter, the only good fight now.
I have listened to this 50 thousand times and still can't get enough.

Same! Incredible
Going all the way has absolutely nothing to do with how much junk and garbage you have to shovel out of the way to get there. Suffering is the spice of life not safety and comfort.Forcing yourself to do something you don’t want to do every day like a cold shower. It seems a bit dark and dingy first, but every time you win you build your own character and your own confidence and you will be with the Gods and perfect laughter. One of the things that I love is thinking about how I didn’t wanna do something that I knew I had to do and once having done it that feeling of power…
Same. 10 years later and i still get goosebumps listening to this
Who's still watching this again and again after years?
I've been on one hell of a journey and I keep coming back to this when I feel weak. I have to remind myself I'm not done. Not even close. All the way. ALL the way.

Jehovah witnesses are a false religion. Dont trust in mens, they will let you down and do bad things, look to Jesus and trust and belive in him with all of your heart. Return to Jesus, trust in him alone and he will be there for you in every problem you are facing. He died for you, that's how much he loved you. Jehovah witnesses don't belive this, but there is a hell and we all need to repent from our sins and trust in Jesus! Pray, Read God's Word and fast, We're all bad people and he is the only one that can save us from hell. God bless you brother with eternal life through Jesus Christ, his Son, Lord and our Saviour. Amen.

Awesome visuals, amazing music, and this poem is just.. Wow. This gave me goosebumps
English isn't my native language, as a matter of fact my native language is not even close to English. All of my grammar professors taught me, that the best way to perceive books (and art in general) is by reading it (or grasping it) in your own native language. But when I read some the work this man has left to the world, I don't read, I feel.(Which is something that none of the art forms, in my native has done to me) Bukowski is the most influential soul that has ever floated trough a typewriter. And this video is just a perfect reflection of his work. I'm proud to say, that non of my professors were right. Art is more than reading (or listening), therefore it doesn't need to be in one's native language, on the contrary it just needs feelings. And this man has engraved his words into mine.

Thank you for making this powerful video. Has given me much unexpected inspiration. I do not have that happen alot. I really relate with this as a struggling musician following his dreams. Reminds me to ride to perfect laughter, and fight the good fight.
Bukowski really did this. He gave up his job at 49 to be a full time writer, with no money for food, and the worst possible odds to ever make it.
Some incredible work, outrageous talent and stubborn dedication to overcome all the limitations of mediums in order to capture the sheer radiance of pure love, going on here... This piece has caught me completely off guard and I am a sobbing mess of grateful tears at the moment... THANK YOU!!!
your films evoke a certain sense of emotion, feeling and inspiration in all the right ways. the shots, angles and lighting are all excellent as well. it is one thing to be able to tell a story, but to be able to tell it in ways that touch the inner depths of one's soul makes you a truly great artist.

Gregory House would strive to solve problems and fix people, but he never focused too much on himself causing him to push everybody away, his wife, his friends, and his emotions. Great character, so when I see someone saying "passion is useless. obsession is what you want, it needs to be a mental illness." All I can imagine is the Legendary Dr.House

The mixing of creative styles; collaboration of climactic expressions to form a piece worthy of apotheoses. Thank you for your inimitable addition to the world of art
I have been educated with an it bachelors and medical degree and as of recent even a real estate license and yet this video was a gift passed on from a friend who clearly could see I am trying to walk a different path. My father, who passed in 2011, was my only inspiration but after his passing and a divorce I have found myself not fulfilled. Now I am living proof that the poetry of Bukowski is true. I am no longer in touch with my family or friends and have broken up a 3 year relationship with someone who couldn't understand me. Even though I took to isolating myself before I saw this video it is true that isolation has rightfully been the gift that has allowed me to understand myself and aspire for more. Today I have no contact with my blood family or friends and have self imposed myself to seclusion. I am trying something very creative in uncharted waters for myself, much to the chagrin of the people that would say they love me. And yet I see no sincerity in them. I am looked down upon and constantly told that I am losing it. This video brought me to tears and continues to inspire me as I stand on the precipice of my own self discovery. I have no guarantees and yet I am sure I will go all the way. Thank you Charles Bukowski.

Thank you. Very good movie.
This poem is really uplifting when you think about it in the context of going after your passion or something. but when you think about people who have thoughts about things like murder reading this poem and gets motivated by it, it gets real dark real quick.
I have schizoaffective disorder. Been fighting this monster for 20 years now, a monster who's always trying to kill me by suicide. I had to accept and embrace death, because psychosys is having a shotgun pointed to your forehead, everyday. And you say to the guy with the gun "do it, do it, DO IT", defying him to shoot, all to take control of your life again. And i went all the way, i tried all the way to the end, and earned my freedom
EXACTLY what I needed, EXACTLY when I needed it. Thank you. Also, EXCELLENT production value. Perfect.
Absolutely wonderful. Thank you. A gift.
I always come back to this...
This poem, to me, is tantamount to the old sentiment "its not the destination, its the journey." "Normal", "success", etc, are all relative - if you feel you have a calling, but put that on the shelf to attain what society deems normal/success, will you be happy? Of course not...conversely, if you give ALL of that up, you will more than likely be mis-understood, outcast, etc, because society will not understand why you dont value what you are "supposed" to value, but you, YOU, will be on your own journey, and can almost laugh at societies pursuit of all of the normal standards. "Success", to someone in this line of thinking, is staying authentic. The payoff, as it were, is like an afterthought, because you ALWAYS knew who YOU were, you didnt need society to define that, by platitudes or by "success"...
@WillemMartinot

Wise words Pete. But in creating art, your authenticity can reveal itself too. Everything in the realm of ambition steers us away from being who/what we are, but since our true self is often buried under a huge pile of conditioned thinking, the magic of being inspired can be a useful pointer. For me, finding work that I love made me more authentic to myself. Culture and society has become a tool instead of a burden (took me 50 fucking years too). Down that road I found also authenticity in Bukowski's words. I doubt he ever freed himself hence the drinking... Thank you for your comment, Pete.
Beautifully done. Thank you! This has become one of the KZread videos that I keep coming back to because I really do believe that life means just doing it. Going all the way. I've done my best and it hasn't failed me yet!
