I’d put Rufus above those 3… Rufus is far more fun to play with. Plus it’s always cool to see a fat guy that’s that bad ass.

No matter how much Capcom tries to captivate us with other protagonists, because the truth is that Ryu is and always will be the soul of Street Fighter.

Funny thing, when Street Fighter 2 released, he was one of the last characters I bothered to pick when dropping in a quarter. Thought he was sorta boring when I was younger. I always went for Chun Li, Blanka, or Guile.

@@patrickwagner6247 I remember when Street Fighter 2 came internationally (I am from Asia) they kinda make Guile as the main star of SF2, the adverts and game magazine focus alot of Guile on almost all magazine cover and even appear as main character in the Van Damme movie to. I think it was in 1994 when the much better Anime movie that came out in VHS that properly set Ryu as the true main character internationally.

Before I even watch the video, I know Dan Hibiki is sort of the joke of the street fighter series, but he's the embodiment of trying your best even if you look like a fool. All Dan wants to do is honor his father's legacy, and while he isn't exactly good at it, the fact he tries his hardest makes Dan all the more cool for me

Geez, just completely shafted Cammy lol. People like her for more reasons because she's hot and strong. She's probably the most vicious female character that isn't a villain with a hard hitting moves meshed with a high intensity rushdown playstyle that is great to learn the game with. She also is one of the only female characters that is consistently animated and drawn with a focus on power/muscle and strength than finesse/grace like Chun, Ibuki, Sakura, etc. That's what I like about her anyway.

Guile still remains one of the most iconic fighters in all fighting games due to his theme alone.

El Fuerte is one of my favourite characters in SF series: funny and has one of the most unique and fascinating fighting styles. He's a luchador and particularily Rey Mysterio reference.

I find it very funny that they think that Mexicans are offended by the character of El Fuerte since if you ask a Mexican they will tell you that they like that character, however what we Mexicans do consider offensive are the characters of Thunder Hawk and Lily that clearly they are *NATIVE AMERICAN* but they want to sell us that they are Mexican

I like most of the Street Fighter 3 characters like Elena, Dudley, and Makoto. Necro, Twelve, and Q has some potential. Also besides F.A.N.G. and Necalli, I also liked the newcomers of Street Fighter 5 like Laura and Menat and I think Ed & Falke have potential if done better.

I still think it was to biased thoward SF2 characters. Like E Honda and Fei Long especially are such generic and shallow characters, it's been done better before and since SF2 and they bring nothing to the archetype. They have nothing to do this high, their icon status is purely due to how old they are, and even then they are completely disposable characters. And though they aren't as bad, T hawk, Blanka and Dee jay aren't that much better and even Zangief has much room to improve. What I don't like about this is that these characters always get the priority in rosters, I think this is especially bad in SF5 and 6 where they take up half of the base roster. There isn't even a single character from alpha and 3 in the base roster of sf6, but apparently blanka, honda and Dee Jay of all characters had to make a come back over Sakura, Ibuki or Yun. You have characters like Sean, Yun and Alex that scream SF6 and yet a green guy that makes no sens in the game's art style gets priority. For me Ryu, Ken, Chun, Akuma and arguably Dhalsim, Guile, Cammy and Vega are the only SF2 characters that deserve a come back.

Especially when the characters in question are getting so much biased attention in spite of being such shallow characters. Sakura, Ibuki, Yun, Sean, Yun and Alex should’ve gotten the priority roster spots since they match the themes of streetfighter six much better and more importantly, have more room to grow as characters

The thing that Street Fighter has always suffered from is the story aspect. Lots of interesting designs, such as Necalli, that ended up on the cutting room floor for future games because Capcom never takes the time to flesh out their characters. The focus on waifus, while welcome, is also a factor and takes away from characters that deserve more props, such as Urien and DeeJay. Look at all the costumes Chun-Li received in V but so many other more characters lack in the alternate costumes department. It's terrible. All for the sake of the waifu. There needs to be an equal amount of love for the characters in the roster when it comes to little things like that.

That terrible story in 5 had NOTHING to do with "waifu's", they just didn't want to hire a better writer. And Chun-Li getting more costumes than anyone else is entirely because Capcom knew they would make the most money that way. Characters like F.A.N.G. were largely unpopular, so why would they waste money creating content for a character barely anyone liked or used. It's all tied to profit, it just so happens that hot whamen are highly profitable.

Sagat will forever be my #1 video game character of all time! In any video game that has a create a character mode, I will always slap on an eyepatch on them as a tribute to him. I love the Muay Thai fighting style, so he was an instant favorite once he became playable in the Street Fighter series.

Solid list. I see why you slotted characters the way you did. I personally like Akira and Nash, so I'd put them higher, but good job.

Decapre belongs at the bottom of this list. All shadow characters belong on the lower half but she's definitely the laziest one. They didn't even try to hide the fact that she is nothing more than a Cammy costume but with a few different moves. Also, move up all original characters like Rufus and Hakan.

As a massive Sagat fan, favorite Street Fighter character for me. I really enjoyed the high placement for him. I think he might be worth docking points considering he doesn't have a place in the main story for the last 2 games. They should've kept Sagat corrupt and vengeful like in SF 1 & 2, I don't mind his beef with Ryu dying out, but his next rivalry story should've been against M. Bison, Balrog, Vega, F.A.N.G., Ed, and Falke by forming an anti-shadaloo civil-war rebel-alliance along with Joe, Mike, Birdie, Eagle, and Adon to be recruited by him again to overthrow the crime syndicate and become King of Street Fighters again.

@@KenMasters. That would honestly be sick. I like how he grows as a character but I also think having different forces go after Bison would be interesting. I'm a tad triggered having Capcom pass up on not having Sagat in the SFV story mode and also making Ryu the main hero instead of Chun Li or Guile.

@@randomperson9799 Another missed opportunities on Sagat's story: • The part where he gets a scar on his chest, should've taken place during Ryu's ending in Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors' Dreams. • Street Fighter Zero should've been a completely different prequel taking place before SF1. Where Gō Hibiki and Sagat are playable in the same game, showing us Gō losing Sagat's eye and him being killed right after. • Street Fighter V needed two more story modes that are sequels to "A Shadow Falls" for both Arcade and Champion editions each, even Sagat gets his own cinematic cutscenes.

@@KenMasters. I agree with basically all of those. I like Zero being between 1 and 2 but the characters in 1 don't have as much fleshing out for the most part. Biggest things I want is Sagat vs Shadaloo and a more fitting character to defeat Bison.

The only good fighting chef we all know is Marshall Law, not some Ray Mysterio knock-off.

I think you were a bit too hard on Blanka, he's a really fun fighter and he's beloved by the community (and he's also my favorite character)

Street Fighter was never really good at writing on the topic of love-interests. Capcom once tried to make Cammy and M. Bison have an age-gap relationship in Super Street Fighter II.

My biggest issue is with Cammy. There’s a ton more to say about her than “she hot and usually really strong.” I might have put her in the top 5. She’s arguably one of the pioneers of the rushdown style and undeniably still one of the best in fighting game history.

I waited too much for this moment. After all, New fighters will appear. Thanks for the ranking.

USf4 got Elena A LOT of hate. Way too favorable frame data couple with some of the most frustrating timer scans with her healing Ultra,

I think a better title for this video would be "My favorite Street fighter characters "! As a lifetime Street fighter player, I can guarantee you that the community loves some of the characters that you had very low on the list.

I main Ryu for years, but I also love Ed when he was introduced in SFV I made him my second, so I'm glad to hear that Ed is coming back to Street Fighter 6

Hahahaa woah there they are also more popular. Also they have lores that are more important that M Bison. Akuma will always be more popular than Bison. Then Ken is number 2 protagonist.

Decent list overall. I wholeheartedly agree with what was said about Ryu. Capcom keeps trying to replace him as the main character, but it's simply not Street Fighter without the endless challenger.

@@txgoldrush How can that be, when it tends to be Ryu who defeats the main villains? Bison, Seth, Akuma.. What noteworthy feat has Chun Li achieved in the series apart from becoming a fanservice icon?

@@txgoldrush Interpreting it as "forced" doesn't change the fact that they're his in-universe achievements. Being that both Ryu and Chun Li tend to represent the franchise, calling Ryu simply a mascot means Chun Li is less than. Her popularity is primarily due to being an attractive female; not for accomplishing anything of worth within the story.
