Most were kids/teens listening to this happily singing along with no clue of the true meaning. If you're here for the same reason I am, just know it's a comfort that heartache is universal and it is ALWAYS better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

💯💯💯💯Next level! I am actually here bc of Third eye podcast (ancient wisdom : Carl Jung and the physics of consciousness) from here on KZread. I’ve known this song since I was a kid, but I hadn’t heard it in years and he referenced it in relation to Carl Jung, w the black hole being human consciousness and like my mind is f:&k!ng blown right now !! I even started tearing up. Like… WOW ❤ Especially when she literally says : sometimes the alphabet runs right through me(as if talking about the collective unconscious. You can tell this is what she’s referring to especially when she says the word “ Zed “ because that is a Greek letter, and all of these ideas actually stem from Plato.(timaes) Ps; and the “you can write it in a LETTER … I can’t! lol Anyway your comment spoke to me! ❤❤❤❤ Especially bc I feel like when we lose love, whether through break ups, or even through death, those are usually the times where we ask ourselves if there isn’t something more to life…. It’s all so powerful! Much love❤

it was a sad time where women looked so dumb running around with no rights thinking they could have healthy relationships with unhealthy and toxic people. Women were looking so stupid because they didn't understand what a narcissist or narcissistic abuse was but many of them do now. This song describes a narcissistic relationship.

School memories from this song. In our science classrooms, our desks were arranged a semi circle. So one day we decided to sing this song, going round the semi circle each taking one line of the talky bit at the start.
do you know it is already 27 years since this song was played for a first time? Still love it for this chilling melody

There's things every person will always remember. Where they were when a famous person died, the name of their first pet, funny things their Nan used to say. Every 90's kid will always remember the talky bit at the start of Never Ever and be able to recite it on cue.
I was 12 when this came out and I remember liking it...have been hearing it throughout the years occasionally.....yesterday I heard it again on some random radio..long story short...I've been listening to it non-stop since then and I admit I have cried a couple of times...yes, one CAN discover the beauty even very long after the fact. I want to travel back to 1997 and start over..Dammit here come the tears again!
This is a song that gets better and better over the years at 34 makes me realise what the lyrics mean takes a life experience sometimes to fully understand a song

"A few questions that I need to know... How you could ever hurt me so? I need to know, what I've done wrong? And how long it's been going on. Was it that I never paid enough attention? Or did I not give enough affection? Not only will your answers keep me sane, but I'll know never to make the same mistake again. You can tell me to my face; or even on the phone. You can write it in a letter; either way I have to know. Did I never treat you right? Did I always start the fight? Either way, I'm going out of my mind, all the answers to my questions, I have to find."

jmanzano17 cassette in 1998? Wow. Thats prehistoric shit and im not even being sarcastic. Singles were cds that were released with just the hit song on it and 1 or 2 different versions of the song, like maybe just the instrumentals and then the actual song. It was cheaper than buying the whole album which usually sucked & wasnt worth buying so id buy just the single.

Gosh so happy that I found them. I listened to their song when I was maybe 3-4 yrs old, thanks to the CD that my uncle kept playing when he was in his 20s. I was so young that I couldn’t remember anything, but somehow this girlgroup and their MV stuck in my head. After googling hopelessly, I found them!!! Felt like this MV and music recalled the memories from my past life lol
Great harmonies.
Amazing Grace, when sung alongside this song, fits in really well...especially the chorus. My Aunt always seemed to find a way to make it work anyway. RIP. xxx

"Never Ever" was a 1997 hit for girl group All Saints. The song was the second single from their debut self-titled album. "Never Ever" was an insanely huge hit in the UK, holding Guinness World Records for sales and airplay. The song was also a hit in the US and France, peaking at #4 in the charts of both countries in 1997.
