I wonder what point a fandom reaches every line from the show being a meme, Check back at the 30th anniversary I guess.

Mr psycho and growler were great additions to the arena. Cassius chrome had a nice design but was not very effective at doing much. My fave was always Sargent Bash.

I loved Bash as a child and then realised he did sod all damage. Shunt became my favourite early on because his weaponry and pushing power was no joke. DM became reliable from season 4 onwards when his entire body became the angle grinder

The house robots really went up in size after the early 00s. Perhaps the competitor robots were getting too strong lmao

Matilda is my favorite bot of all time. And OMG the fight where her shell was shredded! One of the coolest robot combat engagements ever

Cassius was just pointless😂. I miss Bash though and I’m sad I’ll never see him again after series 11 has been axed😭. Hopefully Netflix or someone could buy the rights and bring Bash, Psyco and Growler back from the dead and have a full nostalgic reboot. Oh and maybe call up Chaos 2, Razor (again) and Hypnodisc for a 3 way to see who is the best once and for all

Great list! Also, during Extreme 1/Series 5, Refbot's counter was introduced to count out immobile competitors and his pincer grip was replaced with a set of light up cards.

Okay, I am going to say that Cassius Chrome is pretty awesome. He looks pretty nasty, has a good name and his speed made him an awesome push bot. Sure, his "Punches" were not the strongest, but he could push a bot across the arena like nothing.

The lead designer of the House Robots considered Cassius Chrome a disappointment, the team had a limited budget and only 3 weeks to build him. Channel Five requested a new House Robot be built so they could have one unique to their series when the show moved from the BBC. Cassius Chrome had a cool appearance and if given the chance, could've become even better, though he was the fastest of the House Robots, going at a top speed of 20mph, topping Growler's. Cassius Chrome had potential and was fun seeing him in the arena

Sgt. Bash was & still is my favourite (in the top 3) orginal House Robot, so you can imagine my surprise when he wasn't included in the HR roster! I would love to see the Sergeant make a welcome return, should they ever make another series 😁

I wonder if Craig Charles would ever want another gig as the MC of robot wars.

I heard Robot Wars Extreme Warriors season 3 was planned. Pity it never came to be, cause I wonder how the U.S robots like Panzer, Rosie The Riveter, Propeller-Head, Joker, Tricerabot, The Revolutionist, General Chompsalot, and Conquering Clown would fare with Mr. Psycho, Growler, and/or maybe Cassius Chrome.

Man the fact Cassius Chrome appeared out of nowhere and the 2 other house robots "Shove" and "Dozer" not even getting announced since they're just clean up robots; showed there was still a lot of potential with the house robots. Especially since I just found out about yet another house robot that likely appeared at only live events before the reboot "Behemoth" which I wished was readded to the show. Same with the Sentinel; they could add them all back in and sure some will be weaker than others or exclusive to certain game modes; but I can see them reusing the ideas with a twist. Like of shove and dozer got tired of cleaning and became a threat that tries to push you off an arena without sides. Eg. the Pit is the edges. Throw in Craig Charles returning and it's an easy classic!

@14:58: this is not Sir Killalot for me. I have the radio controlled Matilda and Sir Killalot here standing next to me. Matilda looks the same, but Sir Killalot is simply a different robot. I prefer the original one.

Same. But old killalot just need give balance of weight to back. Because many times he is just falling to front at moment up robots by claw or spear.

I miss the old look of Shunt. What's that thing on his head!?

Pretty sure Mr Psycho was based on the ABC Warrior from Judge Dredd. Also, really wish they hadn't redesigned Sir Killalot in the reboot series, the original version was way more menacing, the new version just looks like a Dark Trooper from Star Wars, he doesn't look like Sir Killalot, shame they retired Sgt. Bash, Mr Psycho and Growler as well.

When I was a little lad, because of Killalot's helmet shape combined with all the wires and cables that came out the back of the head, I thought he was supposed to be some sort of cyborg-Predator. I also didn't like the new Shunt, it looks more fat to me for some reason. Also looks way too smooth; I miss the really old grungy design where it was hooked and jagged everywhere. And I assume by this point everyone seems to have forgotten that the snowplough end was the front of Shunt, not the bulldozer end. According to the wiki, Mr. Psycho's concept was that of Bill Sykes, of the novel Oliver Twist

Intro 4 Refbot on Robot Wars was superb. I liked that intro for Series4.

I’m from Scotland and back in the day I used to watch this on channel 5 followed by WCW Thunder. Was anyone else the same.

I loved this show so much that I actually bought them all on dvd

Kind of crazy seeing in S2 and 3 that they had killalot active and running with camera teams and Craig all there. I get that the guy driving him would of been just off camera and most likely had someone else ready to pull the kill link but still. Back then they used radios too which were pretty susceptible to interference. Not like the modern 2.4ghz digital binded stuff. Also The Sentiel from S2 was way more deserving of a mention than that pile of useless junk cassius chrome.

THEY LOOK SO TINY WHEN CRAIG IS STOOD NEXT TO THEM! When I was a kid I thought Sir Killalot was as big as a Land Rover!

Dead Metal was the perfect killer.

I hate to say this people, but there are rumours coming out of BBC HQ that either this season or next season will be the final season for Robot Wars. If these rumours turn out to be true, then to the House Robots, we salute you.

A very well put together video, used to watch robot wars a ton and where as some things fade this show was so so awesome. Dead Metal with the scorpion design was epic and Matilda with the triceratops look were my favourites, I never really saw anything of the two newer ones I’m guessing not very popular compared to the already established.

Yeah I met them at the annual Robot Wars meet up in Birmingham back in September, really great guys and a fantastic event. If you’re a Robot Wars fan and you live in the UK I’d totally recommend going next year, especially as it’s free!

Robot wars was one of my favourite ever shows when I was growing up, was Hypnodisc your favourite competitor btw? Mine was Razor, Cassius and Wild Thing, I liked a lot of others including hypnodisc and it’s great they were lovely people makes it even better as an experience.

Ahhh Cassius Chrome and his ability to fight like someone who's just played Mortal Kombat for the first time.

Shunt's axe and Sir Killalot's pincer did a lot of damage to competitors, but I didn't see the other house robots do much. Matilda- give you a little shove with her tusks. Sgt Bash- a lick of flame, so what. Dead Metal- will trap you in its pincers so it's circular saw can make a little saw-mark or a "lovebite" on your robot.

Growler was my favourite. Never forget what he did to Ellie’s Little Pink Bot!

i got nostalgic- here in the states these ran on techtv before they merged with G4. i used to remake all the robots with legos and mirror my favorite fights ( with my favorites winning even if they lost in reality XD)

I love the house robots. Some regard them as unfair, preferring the arena hazards approach that Battlebots went with, but personally I think it wouldn't be Robot Wars without the House Robots. Yes, they can be unfair sometimes, overstepping the mark and causing unfair damage even during a battle when they're not meant to, but they bring a lot of personality to the show. They're all unique in design and are generally competent and effective in being a fighting robot. Cassius Chrome in Series 7 is pretty crap as a house robot, but Mr Psycho and Growler were great and I wish they returned for the reboot. Same with Refbot, had a lot of good reason to be there and generally made it a lot better, plus he was generally useful what with the countdown, lights and fire extinguisher.

Loved psycho was pissed when he not return. as i said elsewhere when Psycho and Matilda got together the violence just went up. Growler was a good fast dog. chrome was a good idea they could not pull off.

For real, the old Killalot looked like a cyborg Predator who got caught in medieval times and adapted accordingly. New Killalot just looks like your generic space marine, from like Killzone or something.
