RBI excluded “Kapol Co-operative Bank Limited” from the Second Schedule to the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934 .
Alteration in the name of "Sonali Bank Limited" to "Sonali Bank PLC" in the Second Schedule to the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934
It is advised that the name of "Sonali Bank Limited" has been changed to "Sonali Bank PLC" in the Second Schedule to the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934.
CIMS Project Implementation - Submission of Statutory Returns (Form A, Form VIII and Form IX) on CIMS Portal
As per the Master Direction - Reserve Bank of India [Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) and Statutory Liquidity Ratio (SLR)] Directions - 2021 (Updated as on September 25, 2023), banks submit the statutory Form A, Form VIII and Form IX (on unclaimed deposits) Returns in electronic form on the eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) Portal. The maintenance of CRR shall be reported to Reserve Bank of India under the following statutory return:Form A Return for Scheduled Commercial Banks (including Regional Rural Banks (RRBs)), Small Finance Banks, Payments Banks and Local Area Banks.
The maintenance of SLR shall be reported to Reserve Bank of India under the following statutory return: Form VIII Return (for SLR) for Scheduled Commercial Banks (including Regional Rural Banks), Small Finance Banks, Payments Banks and Local Area Banks.Unclaimed deposit (Form IX)
Balances in savings / current accounts which are not operated for 10 years, or term deposits not claimed within 10 years from date of maturity are classified as “Unclaimed Deposits”.
Following the launch of Reserve Bank’s next generation data warehouse, viz., the Centralised Information Management System (CIMS), it has been decided to shift the submission of Form A, Form VIII and Form IX Returns from the XBRL Portal to the CIMS Portal. Banks shall, accordingly, submit the fortnightly Form A Return from the Reporting Friday June 14, 2024, monthly Form VIII Return from May 2024 and the annual Form IX Return from December 31, 2024 respectively on the CIMS Portal only.
Hedging of Gold Price Risk in Overseas Markets
In December 2022, Resident entities were permitted to hedge their exposure to price risk of gold on exchanges in the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) recognised by the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA). To provide further flexibility to resident entities to hedge their exposures to price risk of gold, it has now been decided to permit resident entities to hedge their exposures to price risk of gold using OTC derivatives in the IFSC in addition to the derivatives on the exchanges in the IFSC.
Key Facts Statement (KFS) for Loans & Advances
REs shall provide a KFS to all prospective borrowers to help them take an informed view before executing the loan contract, as per the standardised format given in the Annex A.
The KFS shall be written in a language understood by such borrowers.
Contents of KFS shall be explained to the borrower and an acknowledgement shall be obtained that he/she has understood the same.
Further, the KFS shall be provided with a unique proposal number and shall have a validity period of at least three working days for loans having tenor of seven days or more.
And a validity period of one working day for loans having tenor of less than seven days.
The RE shall be bound by the terms of the loan indicated in the KFS, if agreed to by the borrower during the validity period.
The KFS shall also include a computation sheet of annual percentage rate (APR), and the amortisation schedule of the loan over the loan tenor.
Charges recovered from the borrowers by the REs on behalf of third-party service providers on actual basis, such as insurance charges, legal charges etc., shall also form part of the APR and shall be disclosed separately.
