cos - 360-x to find the other angle. sin- 180-x to find the other angle tan- 180+x to find the other angle try it for all questions

This is a shortcut to find the other angles but as you progress into A-Level / IB, you really need the understanding given in the video to help you with more complicated questions 🙂

Hi everyone, one point that Mr. Ginger missed is: "Give non-exact numerical answers correct to 3 significant figures, or 1 decimal place for angles in degrees, unless a different level of accuracy is specified in the question." This information can be found on the "instructions" on the first page of any past paper.

Also, do all your videos also apply to oct/nov exams and are they aligned with the syllabus. I see for most of your titles it’s “everything you need to know” so I assume it’s aligned with te syllabus so we don’t learn “unnecessary” information if I may say. Very helpful!

It is aligned with either the 0580 or 0607 syllabus - if it is a topic specific to 0580 or 0607 I will label it in the title but as there is about 85% crossover many of the videos just say All of iGCSE that are valid for both courses, including Oct / Nov papers as well 👍

4:45 my personal tip for the graphs if you have trouble memorizing them is to do sin 0,90,180,270,360 and plot the points and then connect them with a smooth curve. eventually you will memorize them, also these are popular values so many of these are known already like sin 90 and sin 180 and 360

I finished my paper 4 and paper 2 maths a couple of days ago I think i passed and am hoping for a C grade if not for your videos i would have probably got an F. This years paper is extremley hard paper 2 felt like paper 4 we had a question where u had to find the sequence nth term using simultaneous equations i wasnt able to answer that, for paper 4 I ran out of time the last 2 pages were almost empty aside from a few questions.

on the sin, cos and tan graphs how do we pinpoint what value we need to find? for example at 17:20 you make a cos graph and stop before 270 to find your answer. how do we pinpoint we had to stop before 270 and not before 360?

I'm using the symmetry of the graph to know which direction to go from - the black length has to be the same 👍

do we need to put a degree sign for the values of x (in sinx for example)?

Do we often get questions that don't give us a graph at all and we need to solve a trig equation? If so, how do we know what to add to the black line you showed in the first question? With a graph, it's easier cause I can draw straight lines and see what the second solution is, but without a graph, it would be harder.

Usually a graph is given but you can draw your own sketch of a sine graph for example 😊👍

Hi Mr. Ginger, I have a question about the marking scheme. If you give the correct answer you do not need to look at the other marks because you get full marks for the correct answer: is that correct? Also, it would be great if you made a video on the marking scheme.

Generally that is the case but writing the wrong answer can then mean losing ALL marks for the question, which is something to avoid 🙂👍

It does but for higher levels of Maths, it's important to understand where it comes from 🙂👍

will they ever ask you a question like sin x = 1/2 and they give you a value and say to find the previous angles so what would you do? 180-x or 180+x?

Hmm not exactly, more likely say solve sin x = 0.81 in the domain 0 - 360°, which assesses the same skill 🙂👍

Nope we take the "16.6" from the calculation, then add to 180 and take away from 360 to find the two answers we want :-)

It does but goung forward into IB / A-Level, you will need to know how to work with CAST Diagrams and / or symmetry of trigonometric graphs anyway 😊
