I haven’t tried any of Tekton’s wrenches, but i do enjoy the ratchets, sockets and screwdrivers.

Those are some cool wrenches man. You'll like those!

My only issue is that they dont have a non-slip open-ended design, which is a deal breaker for me. I've been in plenty of situations where a non-slip open-ended design has been a savior. There have been more than enough times that a normal open-ended wrench just didn't cut it, so i said never again. It really sucks because these look to be some great Taiwanese wrenches, and im a satin finish kind of guy too. I also wish they would have gone 90 tooth intead of 72 tooth, but thats something i can live with. A little pricey for what they are, but the warranty behind them is definitely the gold standard of warranties. Great review and video!! Thanks

Nice review! I prefer the satin finish. It looks more grippy and maybe won’t appear so dirty after working on something greasy..

Nice review! They are good looking wrenches. I just picked up a set of 20 GearWrench ratcheting wrenches from Tractor Supply on sale for $55. I didn't realize before buying but it says on the packaging, "Not built to free frozen on bolts" or something like that. That's OK cuz I have other tools to do that but it makes me wonder how much torque they can withstand. Once I get more money flowing in, I'm definitely going to upgrade to more Tekton tools.

I love GW but I bought that same set thinking I was getting a game changer in reasonably priced but decent tools. They were made in China I believe(unlike most GW being from Taiwan) and two locked up on me while just playing with them out of the box. Returned them the same day. They offered an exchange but I was already so disappointed. Unfortunately, such moves by GW is opening the doors for a lot of these other competing companies. Ratcheting wrenches can be handy but they fill such a narrow role, I can't really justify them for motorsport-type usage. JMO

That's a great perspective and something to really think about because I just don't have unlimited funds....YET! haha That totally stinks that those GWs failed simply while playing with them. Now I'm going to take some time today and do the same. It's so odd to me how companies can take all this time and effort to build and staff a facility and then put out crap. My brain just doesn't work like that. Yeah these may not turn out to be the nice wrenches they seem but time will tell. Thanks again!

Those are some nice wrenches. I can't justify the price yet, but I may need to start working on my cars more often :)

Definitely! They aren’t the cheapest, that’s for sure. But they are pretty nice. Hard to justify though if you won’t use them much.

Please do the Pro Stormer $50 amz torcher test . And also the Jaeger sets , flex heads. They go up to 1" and 24mm

Going to have to give the reversible ratcheting wrench set from them a try. My set of GW 90t reversible ratcheting wrenches have been an absolute headache. 3/8 and 7/16 lock up randomly. Drives me nuts. They're not worth my time getting warrantied. The Tekton's will be my back up set at work. I have the WERA Jokers which I absolutely love. Just wish they offered more sizes in SAE.

Agreed. I’d love to try the reversible but don’t have a huge use for them yet. I’ll probably buy a few for work though and maybe I’ll put up a review. Reversible wrenches always seem to lock up on me so I’ll be interested to see if the tektons do or don’t. Thanks for the comment!

GW warranty is super easy. Go to their site. Fill out a short form with a picture of the defective tool (no proof of purchase necessary). They send you a new tool in a week or less. It's quicker than watching this video.

They show the strength rating on their website as being above the ASME rating for a non-ratcheting box end. To me, the "less tactile" feeling you are mentioning means less backdrag, which is a good thing Imo. Of course without testing the backdrag with numbers and without comparing other sets that is purely a subjective statement.

I agree. They seem to have a good balance between that and back drag. Husky has more drag but I’d compare the Tektons to craftsman in feel for drag. But yes you’re right, relatively subjective without tested results. Thanks for weighing in!

Per Tekton 9/16 flex head should be rated at about 130 Ft-Lb. On the page were the individual flex wrenches are sold than go to the bottom of that page.

@@BrakinItDown Good news is that if you did break it, they would send out a new one to you next day. That's what great about them.

Would you say, for the most part ratcheting wrenches shoulld not be used for lossening or tightening (under torque)? You should use a fixed box end for that.

I would say it depends on the situation. In a perfect world, yes I wouldn’t use it to tighten or loosen a torqued bolt. However, sometimes there isn’t a whole lot of play and being able to use the flex head to get on the nut or bolt could make the difference. Again, I wouldn’t recommend it, but it’s good to know they hold up under torque just in case.

That’s all I was trying to add on what you said to OP that’s all Also I’m on the fence about these or Milwaukee I need a set but I don’t know which ones but prolly leaning Milwaukee for the fact I already have wrenches from them

@@143CAR correct, however they are based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Just some of their tools are manufactured over there.

Should of used a digital torque wrench I have one and don’t have a KZread channel, to get an actual reading

I agree. I’d like to get one, but don’t use a torque wrench often enough to constitute buying another one.

I am very disappointed in two aspects. It went 12 point instead of 6. 12s are a dime a dozen which leads into my next complaint, price. Now its $450 for the standard and metric sets... Very disappointed. Less tool, more risk, more expensive...

Way to much. Twice as much as gearwrench. Probably built in the same factory.

A lot of GW ratcheting wrenches are from China now. You'd have to confirm if these Tektons are made by Hi-Five who are considered the "gold standard" of Taiwanese ratcheting wrench manufacturers. They have some very nice and consistent mechanisms. The other manufacturer, Infar, who make Icon and others aren't nearly as consistent (you get tight mechanisms and loose mechanisms, it seems to be kind of random).

12 point…. 🤮 they discontinued the 6 point during covid and found a different China manufacturer to make these 12 point crap. I prefer the drives that grab the CENTER of a fastener not the tips
