2013 and 2011 was the best years for Fire Sets hands down. I have both full lineups and still prefer them over the more recent fire sets. 2016 was also decent in my opinion because they added longer "hoses" on the reels and added stud shooters.

I thought the same but not only were these good years for the fire sets but for the whole Lego City series. I´m a big Lego fan but very disappointed by what they put up nowadays

@@kam0eb Definitely, I was just in Walmart about a week or 2 ago and decided to take a quick look in the Lego aisle to see if anything looked worth picking up while I was there....I saw all the Lego City stuff and told my dad, "Man am I glad I had/have the stuff that was actually fun to play with."

Feels like lately Lego have abandoned any nod to realism with their fire sets and just focused on creating something wacky for kids to play with. Police stuff also feels increasingly unrealistic. Can't blame them - it is a toy after all - but gone are the days when an afol could buy off the shelf sets to create reasonable looking emergency services for a city. My fire sets are from an 'alternative brick brand' and they have the opposite issue - they look great and pretty realistic but no way you could give them to a kid to play with because they drop to bits if you even look at them the wrong way. And even those aren't in production any longer.

As a kid I wouldn’t have been attracted to these wacky designs. I adored the 90s Lego as a kid precisely because how amazing the sets were.

Cool to see them make an actual water-bomber rescue plane like they use for forest fires.

I still have my Fire Command Center set from the 1990's that you showed 3:29 in the video and I am happy with it and I still used it today in my town. The last fire station that I purchase was the Lego modular Fire Brigade which I am still happy with that too. No need to get any new police and fire stations.

Of all the pieces I like the plane the best. I’m with you, I like the “old school” sets.

I don't like the garage doors on the fire station would rather have the old slide up and down doors. I already have a bunch of fire fighting trucks. Only one that I might get is the fire air plane.

They already used all the creativity on these awesome space sets.

They look great in person!

Put that 1990 set's RRP of $52 in an inflation calculator and you'll see that you can get this year's station, helicopter AND truck for the same money, with the inflatable boat as extra.

Boy oh boy, I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but I really like this wave of sets for some reason. I know the fire station doesn't have much going on inside, but the futuristic shaping appeals to me. If I already had a LEGO fire station, maybe this one wouldn't be so appealing, but I think this one will be my first (when it's on a steep discount, of course 😊). The tiny helicopter is a travesty, the price is ridiculous, and the last thing we need are more fire sets, but still...

You really need to MOC the back side of the first set. C'mon Lego, that ain't gonna cut it in 2024.

I make mocs of fire trucks and my Aerial 1 Fits in my hall and it's a 2018 E-one Cyclone ll 100ft rear mount platform, so yes I feel like it's disappointing, but if I but this I am filling in the middle, and extending that back so it's not empty 😊

Lego found a way to make more money with the fire theme: make a fire station with one truck and get people to buy the other truck and helicopter separately. The fire station is a ripoff because of the overall design. And the garage space needs to be 10 studs wide because the eight stud design was cool in the 1980s but obsolete today.

Yeah it’s like they’re going for the “collect them all” angle, built right into the sets, to make people spend more money… sad.

I was thinking of getting the 4x4 as well and doing just that, maybe get rid of the hose attachment and replace it with a rescue/recovery line using a longer cable!

The 4x4 Truck and the Plane look the best 😀

I like the new fire sets. I feel like I would need 2 of the big truck that comes with the fire station. Keep one a ladder and the other as an engine.

Lego really messed up with the station helipad because it’s labeled as number 3 but it’s actually numbered up as 4

Fire station should be more like old style ones that have all the vehicles and the vehicles fit in. However the numbered doors is great, though the garage doors are better The plane is awesome The modular system between emergency sets beginning with last years sets is amazing

First off, great video! I love the enthusiasm you show in this review! There are 2 big things I find disappointing about the new fire sets (in addition to what you already said). First, WHERE ARE THE HOSES!!! Like you mentioned, I remember when every single truck had a looong hose on it. The "hose" on the 4x4 was just lazy in my opinion, and the fact that there is no hose at all on the big truck is a big let down. Second, I don't like the European style helmets. LEGO firefighters looked way cooler with the American style helmets with full respirators. It just doesn't feel like these firefighters are ready to tackle structure fires, or any large fire for that matter. In my opinion, the last great fire series was 2016, I really hope LEGO goes back to the basics when it comes to LEGO City, the LEGO City TV show really killed the themes creativity.

Thanks for the comment! These are very good points. I think we can all agree on the fact that there are no hoses. Strange that they have basically eliminated them. The helmets may come down to preference for most people. I guess these are light crew fire fighters? lol

The fire station looks like space station fire station or air base fire station which seems appropriate with new space theme in City

The big plane seems good and worth the money. The station seems lacking. other previous stations were able to fully house at least 1 vehicle. Great review overall 😊

Thanks, I ended up keeping the plane in the city. I do like the vehicles, but with so many fire rescue vehicles in the city already, I couldn't find a use for them.

the old barracks are bigger and more beautiful

the fire dept of lego city is great, but the thing is, for the police they have changes the livery and the police station's livery many, many times so if i want a newer lego city police commander truck it just wont fit with the older sets (i don't have both, just saving up money to buy a new station or 2, and a few cars.)

I got the 4x4 early at my target

The only one I would want would be the airplane set, but I already have so many fire sets I don't need more. As for the fire station, my favorite one is toss up between sets 7208 from 2010 and 7945 from 2007, which I do have the 2007 set in my city and it actually fits both the main fire truck from that set and the fire truck from 9 years later in 2016 as well even though that set is 320 pieces more then the 2007 set.

Those are great fire stations. I agree that the airplane would be the only one I'd go for. In fact, I kept it in the city. I do like the fire truck, but like you I just have too many fire sets already.

Bought 2 stations and built one backwards, promptly slapped them together and its twice as thick and the trucks dont have the butt hanging out at the cost of leaving the front garage open or removing the door oar the rear. Both variants of the fire truck are staffed. Pretty snazzy imo

Yeah Immediately noticed that and did the same thing, just moved each station back 1 stud on the base plate and stacked the technic beams that were on the rear of the station to create makeshift walls for the middle section. Also nice to have one of each fire truck variant ready to go

6:20 looks like you need to buy a bike and a helicopter separately to go with your station. They used to be included.

Two sets would help, but I feel like you would need so many additional pieces to properly merge them. And the fact that two would cost you $160 just makes it not worth it in my opinion.

i merged the 2013 one with a newer 2021-22 one, with a few extra peices = could fit the 60321 truck, 60230, one big moc and there's more space for the trailers and im planning to buy the new truck with boat one - LOOKS AMAZING!

The station is just bad. Yikes. And to have the audacity to sell it with the stickersheet that tells you to buy 2 more sets to "complete it". On top of that. What is the connectivity with the new road plate system? Is that seriously 8 wide sloping out there? Means you need 4x2x1 tiles and 2x 4x2 tiles to make this connect to the roads? Sending you to Bricklink again?

To me it doesn't seem like a set that would work with anything. It's a standalone that sits on a desk or table. It was a big step backwards to me.

Alex doesn’t usually buy City sets for use in his city. In a situation like this it’s through the Lego Ambassador Network that he receives the sets and he may or may not have received the Police Sets for early review

That firehouse is weak. $80 for a facade and the vehicles aren't even compatible? That's a real shame.

It really is. I don't see that selling very well. Hopefully they get back to what made them successful with these not too long ago.

yeah this fire station is the waste one i got it because i fort this a good but it Lego should go back to the old way where u can get two bays fire station with two trucks like from 2007 2009 2012 2013 2016 2019 2021 2022 i got all fire sets made in there boxes plus build it

Each year the fire sets get less value for money and less pieces, lego need to remember these sets bring kids into the Lego universe and if they have less each time to challenge new builders then it will put off kids from future projects

The fire station is very disappointing. It should have included to vehicles that would actually fit in the two parking spaces. Like the plane the plane the best.

The plane is the only decent one in my opinion. The station doesn't even have the cool doors anymore.

this base was a big disapointment. Lack of vehichles, tight garages and very high price. I like the aesthetics, but it feels incomplete and overpriced. The fact that it even mentions other sets that are sold separatey is outrageous. The plane and the suv look nice, though

The LEGO website shows the truck completely inside the garage. Are we maybe suppose to drive it in through the back? Ridiculous any way 👎

@@bachbui You only got 9 studs from the door, and that door is 4 plates thick. If you count everything on it. That leaves 8 studs. That truck is what? 20 studs long. Nope that won't fit at all. There is a reason why the garages in almost every lego set are either roll doors that use the system used for more than 30 years or slide doors. Both those door systems fit in 2 studs space on the plate. And with the roll doors sky is the limit, because you used the special pieces made for it. And the click on lamellas. This door uses at least 4 studs. With all the gunk on it and the position is angled. So you lose a lot of space. Which isn't seen with the naked eye. But you do when counting. Perhaps it could have been more efficient but it would not be structurally sound. And break easily. Hence it is like 4 plates thick. And that costs you a lot of space. Now if it was old style trucks, they were about 10 studs long. The truck with the set is 20. It just doesn't work. And then they abandoned the entire road plate system. What are they thinking?
