yes, its not just BMW, a lot of manufacturers need to change their design language to accommodate these sensors. The kidney grille in its current form doesn’t make sense anymore.

People say this about every new car now such a basic comment. GTA cars are based on real cars but modified a bit. New cars are often evolutions of previous cars of the brand so obviously there may be some similarities with GTA.

I know this is almost an ad, but 2.5 tons for an M5 is unjustifiable! An Audi q7 v12 TDI (giant suv with a v12 diesel engine) was 2.68 tons.

And that was back in 2012, and it was a big, heavy ass giant monster. This new hybrid pile of horse shit by other carmaker is a bad joke. We all know, that emission figures are just on paper, real life emissions will be way much higher and that is very disappointing. But non the less, most of the hybrids today are just bought for tax avoiding.
Couple of years ago every new M model presentation was a banger, technological and beautiful masterpiece. Nowadays its just another car presentation on youtube…

.+2,000 lbs heavier than a E39. This is insane.
The interior, especially the lack of hard buttons and the lack of shifter is where BMW has lost me. M line up should have the interior Urus.
It's not the worst of the modern BMW designs but it shouldn't weigh almost as much as an Escalade. The M5 weighs more than the X5 M50i now

Feels like the M60 is the actual m5 in this generation. I'm glad they still make these however emissions laws just ruin the fun.
Beautiful machine but someone please tell the people down at BMW that the shiny black plastic trim should be ILLEGAL! Even on brand new press car that has been detailed, it is covered in scratches! It will scratch even if you look at it funny - can we move away from this material PLEASE!?

Hmmm, I like the last gen better in terms of looks.
2024 M5 Comp: 625 Horsepower (V8 engine) 750 Feet Pound of Torque 1,865kg (4,111 pounds) 2025 M5: 577 Horsepower (V8 S68 engine) 553 Feet Pound of Torque 192 Electric Power 202 Feet Pound of Torque from Electric 2,435kg (5,368 pounds) The 2025 M5 is significantly heavier, for obvious reasons. Nevertheless, once you run out of your electric battery charge (25-mile range), you are left with only 577 V8 horsepower to push a 5,368-pound car. What a disaster! And the rest, I am not sure where to go with it. What is up with not having a gear lever? I don’t think BMW is listening to their customers and clients anymore. Every interview they feed us a bunch of BS and the interviewers are afraid to ask tough questions. The BMW may fool new buyers, but not the BMW enthusiasts and the people who are loyal to the brand. You can’t fool us. Cheap plastic door panels, plastic carbon fiber-looking paddle shifts, and no carbon fiber steering. Yet, all of which is available on the M3 and M4 models. The rear diffuser truly looks like an afterthought. And the front kidney grill is identical to the i5 M60. What is joke! And I am sure BMW has increased the price beyond any measure to match the rest of the model lineups.

I think the battery is kept charged by the engine though.. Youre probably not going to use all +700 hp constantly.. But else I agree.

I no longer feel like an M5. I think it has become like a 7 Series, and it no longer has any sporty character, and its weight is very heavy, even though it is not electric. Everyone does not want luxury from the M5, but rather wants performance❤
If you think about this car as an isolated one, without the previous outgoing model in mind then it looks good and strong but the problem is that there is this gorgeous outgoing predecessor model where in comparison the current one looks like a step back for the brand. Sad times
This car should not have any gloss plastic nor Neon light on the nose. Only Carbon and 700 HP engine only out of the new S68 powerplant

In Isle of Man Green its looks amazing!! But the weight...its to much! 😱
The grille design is better than the current M3/M4, but the entire front end just looks bloated and chunky. I like how older cars appear to have lower hoods, closer to the ground. I know that hoods need to be higher now for pedestrian crash regulations, but still... The front end just looks huge. The front overhang looks really big too. It looks more like a tank than a sleek sports sedan.
Removed insulator under hood is for reducing weight or saving cost?

I love the fact that it's a hybrid, because the car can be used as a daily much easier, but this can is heavier than the electric i5 M60, which seems crazy. They could have added a smaller battery, just for like 30km electric driving for daily commutes.

Problem is, nobody had issues with livability in the last one, so it’s solving a problem that doesn’t exist for m5 buyers at least. If increased daily livability is what one seeks, don’t buy an M5 there are other 5 series better suited to that task. When u try to be everything to everyone you end up with a compromised, bloated boat anchor parading itself as a “sports car” which this is anything but. Previous m5s were famous and popular because they Didn’t pander to every buyer. This homogenization of car design philosophy is killing the entire enthusiast class.

Leave the 4 wheel steering to the payloaders caterpillars
Looking at the regulatory perspective i can understand why they made it perform the same with the outgoing model. Honestly they could have made it quicker but the emission they have to cut through is insane especially the upcoming Euro 7 regulations. That said, even with heavier weight they do have improvements on handling, steering, and overall experience. So stats wise it might be a letdown but lets see on other aspects that made this a motorsport car. Though the design... they could have done it better And with the upcoming porsche 911 hybrid, there is no excuse to have that much weight since i expect that too will be Euro 7 compliant

I don't want it because of the looks. It has a power to weight ratio similar to the E60 and is slower than the previous generation. But the looks aren't good either and I like a lot of the new BMWs.

True M models are made to be able to drive on track. Can one confidently drive fast on the track with a car which weighs more than 2400kg? Sure, the active M-suspention can keep the car stable in curves, but did anyone try breaking with such a heavy car on a wet surface? M models are designed to be lighter then serial model counterparts, and this M5 is actually heavier than the regular 5 series. Specifically, M5 was conceptualised to be a practical track ready vehicle, and the new M5 has trunk space of only 470 liters, 60 leters less than the previous generation. To me this seems to be like a step back for the M5 model.
That tail light looks like it's from Toyota.
Remember when BMW actually made high quality interiors? The previous generation looks so much more expensive and premium.

Um, not so crazy about the new design but that Isle of Man Green , tartufo combo looks very nice . The interior is nice but at 2,5 tonnes it is a very heavy car . I didn't get that pure EV travel distance Thomas how many km or miles was that ? Anyway very thorough review as always Thomas . Tschuss my friend !
