All-New 2024 Honda Prologue review // A Honda in name only?
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new 2024 Honda Prologue electric SUV. This 2024 Honda Prologue EV has an 85 kWh battery, AWD models have up to 452 km/281 miles of range with 288 horsepower and 333 lb-ft of torque. Standard AWD in Canada and in the US, FWD and AWD models are available.
The FWD 2024 Honda Prologue model in the US has 212 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque with up to 296 miles of range.
The 2024 Honda Prologue was created in partnership with GM and is based on the Ultium platform, but was styled by Honda design studios in California. The Prologue has a wide and low stance with a sleek, stylish and sporty design. Wondering where it fits in the Honda lineup? Comparing it to the CR-V it’s 8” longer and 5” wider, this is a good size vehicle for families.
There are three 2024 Honda Prologue trims to choose from in both Canada and the US and it comes with quite a few standard features including, an 11” digital instrument cluster, an 11.3” touchscreen with google built in and with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Other standard features include a wireless charger, cloth upholstery, heated front seats, a power driver’s seat and manual passenger seat.
In Canada, the 2024 Honda Prologue has an MSRP starting price of $59,990 CAD, EX-L $64,990 CAD, Touring $69,990 CAD
In the US, the 2024 Honda Prologue EX FWD $47,400 USD, EX AWD $50,400 USD, Touring FWD, $51,100 USD, Touring AWD $54,700 USD and Elite AWD $57,900 USD.

One of the best looking hondas in a while. And, the 2 colors shown look great. My only problem with it from the review is that it doesn't come as a hybrid and I live in a high rise condo. 😥

Not a fan of hybrids. The range is minimal on electric and you still have all the expenses of an ice vehicle( gas, oil, and exhaust system). I went full electric in 2020 and this boomer is never going back. That’s just my opinion.
Finally a very nice looking vehicle from Honda. Very clean solid looking.

What's expensive to you, may be affordable for others. This is a large, electric SUV. If $20k out the door for a new vehicle is affordable to you, those days are gone, long gone. People want more conveniences, more space, more technology, more power, more range, more safety, more reliability, for pennies on the dollar and Tesla can't even do it.

I drove it. It's probably my favorite Honda (I don't like Honda). It's more tame than my Cadillac Lyriq or the Acura ZDX with 500HP AWD. This is actually a clean-looking, sensible Model Y competitor which offers more than the Tesla Model X.
Seems like they'll be offering some cool colors too. Nice package.

Nice review. You both made some excellent points as everyone thinks this is a full GM car with a Honda badge, but it's clearly isn't.
At those trim prices, the Prologue won't sell. Honda ordered 110,000 Prologues from GM ... good luck on that. Soo many better alternatives.
Great review Andrea and Zack. I absolutely love the lower and wider stance. If I’m not mistaken the cargo capacity is just a smidge bigger than my 2024 Civic hatchback. Probably still a couple cycles of auto purchases before I consider an EV, but this is a good looking vehicle.

Wait at least 5 years for a better charging infrastructure to be ready; as it is now, forget about it! I know having owned a 2020 Kona EV and the infamous (we can't repair your battery) Ioniq 5 EV.
I work at a Honda Dealership here in Jacksonville, NC! I think the Prologue is a very good looking SUV, and will attract attention for sure!! The price is a little on the high side for some buyers and will slow sales in some markets!
Honda has a winner here and will sell as many as they can build. Good luck buying one at MSRP.
Looks great but the partnership between GM and Honda has ended which spells doom for this model, wouldn't buy... Great review btw!

Nice looking electric vehicle and interior is not bad, kind mixed old and new stuffs and style. But the price is too pricey for some. Great show Andrea! 👍🏻👍🏻☕️☕️
Another great review. It would be interesting to know how the charging capacity when doing long distance trips. I recently travelled in an EV with a supercharger capacity, it was fast and kept us on the road relatively quick. Does the Prologue have the capacity for high speed charging? Actually Ford will or has alreay introduced supercharging capabilities on some of their EVs.

as the review said - Honda has its own supply chain on this, so it should be just fine and it is nice to know that GM will continue on with the platform for many years apparently if you do hold onto it for a long time - with EVs many lease as a mitigation to most being in a evolutionary track and its uncertain for most looking to the longer term ownership.

Tire repair kit? Does that mean no spare tire?
I would really like it if, in these 'utility' vehicles, you provided more detail on the cargo space, including a standard metric like the number of golf bags or say, toilet paper. Also, I was born in 1971 and live in Québec, would really really like you to provide the space figure in litres. I have a rough idea of what a cubic foot might be but boy I know what a litre is, and I think anyone who has bought a 2 litre of pop in N America understands how much 100 of those bottles are etc. Excellent review and man I hear you that the Ariya is a better choice but the Prologue has a certain something.

@@FrunkensteinVonZipperneck that’s unfortunate. Ford has access already and Rivian, Volvo, and PoleStar announced they will have access less than 3 weeks from now. Even GM’s twin of the Prologue will have NACS access within a year. I can’t see why anyone would want to buy the Prologue, or any other EV for that matter without NACS access. I’m hoping you’re wrong about the time frame and that Honda gets access much sooner. Otherwise, it’s off the buy list until then.
Prologue looks a lot better than those four alternatives you named, in my opinion, much cleaner styling. Well done Honda! Partnering with GM on the platform brings it to market sooner, that is a good thing. If you don't trust GM, fair enough, there are alternatives...

Increasingly, Tesla vehicles will have to compete on their own merits, not the merits of its charging network.

This is a huge no for me. Waste of time to use GM as a basis. Terrible reliability and Blazer EV already has battery/charging issues. You can get a CRV Hybrid for $15k less, more cargo and interior space, similar power, farther range, and it’s made 100% by Honda. Not to mention I think this is VERY expensive for what you get. Low range, cheap materials from GM, and an exterior the size of an Odyssey with an interior of an HRV?!? Insane. I truly think this will be very unsuccessful. The Prologue and Blazer share quite a bit more than just the skateboard but Honda has done a great job turning this into a Honda. It's well executed and the Ultium platform is a good one. Those are big positives. However, the fact that their are unique-to-Prologue parts and that this is is a one-off for Honda means that parts availability and Honda tech support in the future will likely be iffy. That would be enough for me to look elsewhere.
