The most common use of cardboard boxes is to use them to store various items and things.
So today I got a very nice box.
Shopping baskets are sold at a fairly high price. They are very beautiful, and you always want to have this thing in your home.
I will be happy to show you how to make a box that is close in appearance to wicker.
And it will cost practically free.
The vine will be kraft packaging paper. You can always rewind 2-3 meters in large hardware supermarkets along with your purchases.
But it’s better to buy it for 230 rubles per roll at Leroy Merlin. Always useful.
How to do:
- Prepare a cardboard box of any size or make it yourself.
- Cut the paper into strips 4 cm wide.
- Twist them with a flagellum. Even a child can handle this kind of work. My paper is very hard, and before rolling it, I moistened it a little with water from a spray bottle, crumpled it with my hands, and then twisted it.
- Glue the finished bundles to the box with a hot gun. You have to start from the bottom.
- The next step is to paint the box with a brown stain. After drying, apply acrylic varnish.
Now the box has become very durable and looks like wicker.
All that remains is to make a cover from a beautiful fabric.
- To do this, you need to measure the box around the perimeter and cut out a rectangle and a square bottom.
This is what happened. It looks no worse than a real wicker basket. I think you can also attach handles from the belt.

2) Make a beautiful and comfortable thing for your home, in which you can put all the little things out of sight. It will be free and no worse than in the store.
You can use ready-made cardboard boxes for baskets, but it is much better to make them yourself, then they will turn out smooth and neat.
To cut cardboard smoothly and without creases, you need to use a stationery knife and cut it on a rubber mat. With the help of scissors, no matter how hard you try not to get a high-quality cut, they crumple and compress the paper.
Before cutting, you need to measure the shelf, be sure to leave a little empty space so that the finished basket becomes free.
- To glue pieces of cardboard, I take small pieces of paper tape and use it to secure the walls on all sides. Then gluing is much easier.
- I use PVA glue, cut strips of craft paper and glue all the corners. It's better to do it outside and inside. After drying, the box becomes strong and reliable.
- This time I made slots 12 cm long and 2 cm wide for the handles.
- I glued hard calico to the top of the box and the bottom of the handles, thereby hiding the cuts.
- The most interesting thing is the decor. Here you can choose whatever you want. For example, cover it with rope, paper, fabric.
- I chose the combined option for myself. In the center of the basket there will be fabric, I have beautiful linen, and along the edges there will be two types of twine.
- Crocheted braids.
I glued the fabric with PVA glue and left it to dry until the morning.
- Then I glued the pigtail with hot glue. First from below, then from above, where the handle cut the pigtail.
- The top of the handle was braided with twine.
The boxes are just the right size.
