I've watched this scene so many times but I still had to work hard to not smile like an idiot at their overacting. As bad as it is, I'll never tire of it

Japan as it finest. This one and I've seen Hana-Kimi live action, their overacting is also hilariously acceptable, as usually I said to people, anime do not need a live action. But, those 2 live action is different, they were good art, the production effort is top notch. Maybe because it's not a fantasy story? Idk.

@@LazyM0nday Ironically, I just finished watching the anime for the first time last week. It's really nice despite me not really being a fan of animes in general. This show will still have a place in my heart but I dare say Naoki was nicer in the anime, at least once they got married.

This version in some ways is better than the Korean version, Playful Kiss - at least they take it to the ending with her achieving huge personal growth, and him achieving huge emotional growth - and the ending is so cute

I love Kotoko. Personally, I would've given up on Naoki a long time ago, but I digress....the cross dresser nurse guy is freaking stunning. I've lost track of how many times I've rewatched this. Think it's put me in the mood to watch it again.

East Asian standards of beauty are different from the West.......If you go to China, Korea or Japan and see a girl you think is pretty or cute and you ask a local about what they think about the girl, they will probably say she's average.....

Imagine getting married with handsome, popular n genius guy, i don't know if it's lucky or unlucky....i would feel insecure like kotoko, but what i love most jn this drama, naoki is head over heels for her, n introvert guy like him for sure only like kotoko in his life...becoz kotoko is unique

Being a short "grandmotherly" woman married to a gienius sexy Japanese man all I can say is that I KNOW I'm loved. He hated the games and what he felt was fake ways of most women. He likes how real and kind I was. Been friends 30 years, married 17 years, and have two kids. **smiles**

what I noticed from watching japanese dramas that has over the top acting, I kind of always guess its mostly adaptations from mangas or animes but there are also jdramas that has decent acting, this is just from my experience😂

@@ezmanasir2626 She passed away in 1999. I rewatched the anime earlier this year whilst waiting for my internet to be connected. (I had just moved into my new apartment at the time.) Out of all the characters, Jin was the most annoying to watch. Over the years a number of mangaka have passed away before their works were completed. The light novel author for "Zero no Tsukaima" died from cancer many years ago. He left notes on how he wanted the story to be finished, however no one was brave enough to step into his shoes to finish his work, fearing they would not be able to live up to the expectations of the fans. Which is why season 4 ended they way it did.

I get it ... A toxic addiction by definition... It's unfortunate but this drama is our obsession no matter how much of a heart of stone Naoki is and no matter how obsessed and totally stalkerish Kotoko is on the edges 😂 If they love each other despite their flaws, what can we say?

@I am Fighterman Same. This show is my guilty pleasure but the way I view Naoki and Kotoko now is vastly different from how I used to when I first watched this years ago. I was in high school then and used to think Naoki was so cool, and Kotoko was annoying. Now I still think Kotoko is annoying and stalkerish, but I loved the episode where she snapped in season 2. As for Naoki...I love the actor but the character is so toxic. I'd use him as an example of who NOT to fall for. Way too emotionally unavailable, and it's not my job to get him to open up. It's because of their character that I never rewatched S1. It was nice enough but no thanks. I only ever rewatch S2.

She's definitely got a heart of gold, just maybe doesn't quite know how to act in situations where she should take a minute to figure things out. But maybe that's me projecting lol You're right. She's not the best partner, but I do like her interactions with her friends. From s1 and s2, she's definitely not the kind of FL that would abandon her friends for her ML, no matter how much she's in love with him.

Poor Kotoko she has such low self esteem 😂 look at her expression at 0:38 when senior nurses warn not to approach Dr.Irie - Girl you sleep with him everyday and you are worried about their warning

​@@tamertighnari5133I agree! Just like in the nursing room scene where he comes in and hands the wallet to Kotoko, he's directly letting all of the screaming nurse students that he's taken. I think he's doing the same thing here. He's making sure everyone knows that he's already married and who he's married to. It must be very annoying to be screamed at every time you walk into a room. He learned how to ignore screaming females from his high school days.

ittazura na kiss, the anime version is better yet it was old anime. there is also Kdrama version based on same manga released on Korea 2010 called "Playful Kiss". there is also Taiwanese drama based same manga released on 2005 called "it started with a kiss" This is one of the most popular shoujo manga series imo... i know there is much shoujo manga but i this one is the first shoujo manga that attached me

Which episode?

This became the problem of live adaptation of anime's. They fail to get international atention due to overreacting like in anime. Unlike rorouni kenshin live action movie where they made it realistic. Don't get me wrong though, I respect people liking this way of acting. It somehow works on comedies too.

To be fair, that’s two different genres. This is more of a rom com based on a shoujo series whereas Kenshin isn’t. RK has some comedy but not enough to overshadow the seriousness of the series even when the original anime added fillers or filler characters. I wouldn’t mind if it started with a kiss had a more serious note to it for its live action adaptation since it’s hard to translate comedy focused anime into live action because not everyone likes overacting even though they’re being true to the manga characters.

I did see some eps of season 1 from the JP version. But saw the first drama version from Taiwan many years ago ... before JP version ..so that version has already left a big impression for me. Despite this being a JP manga ... I think I even saw some of the older JP drama version where the main girl had very big ears ...
