The Overstory was a favourite of mine too. I have Americanah in my bookshelf to read. I previously read Half of a Yellow Sun, another Adichie novel, which was very good. You might try that if you've not already read it.

I'm not quite as stingy with 5-stars as you are (have more like 10/year), but all the ones you've given 5-stars that I've read I've also given 5-stars too (Braiding Sweetgrass, The Overstory, and La hija única), so I will definitely be checking out the others (The Wizard of the Crow, My Sister Killjoy, Americanah, and the Oscar Wilde were the only ones already on my TBR, so also some books new to me!)

i give very few 5 stars also and i do give a lot of threes and i like those books quite a bit...on of my 5 stars would be 1/2 a yellow sun and i recently read and enjoyed purple hibiscus and have unread on my shelves americanah..i'm wondering if the first adichie might usually be the favorite...the count of monte cristo is one of my classic five stars and the short wonderful life of oscar wao and bel canto...are a couple of others..and braiding sweetgrass too...oh and the signature of all things by elizabeth gilbert.
