Take a look at elephants and rhinos swimming and camels crossing oceans. And those are mammals that weigh tons. It's not that unheard of for any huge land animal to be at least decent swimmers. Now, when your bones are mostly hollow, it's even easier.

Fun fact: in jurassic park there was a delated scene where rexy was supost to attack Alan Grand on a boat, yes, rexy was supost to swim in s river in jurassic park So the mod with the T-rex swimming is a nice reference to the delated scene
