Every tribe has their own version of this song, but since they all used to be one, each different version harmonizes when sung together. Hup only sings bass since he's not a gelfling, but builds a foundation for the other vocals. As in potlings are seen as lesser beings compared to gelfling but they are still needed. That's my headcannon.

i think it is the same lyrics but sung in different tunes and tempos and probably uses different keys. How each one chimes in singing their part reminds me of a Gregorian choir. How everyone has a separate part individually but altogether makes a more united piece.... It honestly would make sense that they would have a song (that despite the differences between the clans) that would have a piece of culture they ALL had in common

The way Rian looks at Deet with such complete admiration is so heart melting. The way Hup looked at both of them looking at each other; on the other hand, is truly heart breaking because he cares deeply for Deet as well

The really cool thing about this scene is that the gelflings from different tribes are singing. Really watching from the beginning of the series and how the division is there between the tribes..this can be considered significant. Also, Hup..not a gelfling, but his underscore harmonies with everyone else is like the glue tying the whole song together as a whole. Just perfect.

That's the one thing that always fascinated me about the Dark Crystal. Everything is connected in Thra; all the good, all the bad, all the neutral. Hell, the Crystals justice even has an underlined importance on balance and the interconnectedness in life; splitting the Urskeks into the Mystics and Skeksis to deny them full transcendence and the ability to be whole. The one thing I took away from this is that a single Podling, not of the Gelfling races was able to sing the dirge; a song sung in native Gelfling, and his own melody shared some of the same words. It blew my mind, to think that not only Gelfling but all sentient races could know this song, and sing it in honor of the All-Maudra; one of few sentient creatures for whom all life could mourn the loss. I am but a mere Wittan, who grew up watching this as a kid. Now, this is what I call folk music. 😎

I love when Rian and Deet lock eyes and the harmonic layers of voices suddenly decreases because they’re too entranced by each other to continue singing. 😍 The look on Rian’s face is full of so much passion. I can’t believe he is a puppet!

I feel so sorry for Brea in this scene. She lost her mother, her sister shouted right in her face that she’s no sister to her, And she didn’t even get to give her mother a proper burial. She’s been through so much and you can just hear her sadness and her loss in her voice.

I am still so upset that this was cancelled.

This scene shows so much beauty, but also sadness, and makes me love the Gelflings even more. Small my size and giant by courage, they're among the best creatures of all fantasy history. I feel so bad for Brea, I want to give her a hug to comfort her :(

I know that this show was very time-consuming and expensive to make... and I know we essentially all know the ending and it isn't a happy one for these characters... but gosh darn it, Age of Resistance deserved at least another season. It was such a stunning piece of art with so much personality and clearly a lot of love poured into it.

I have to say that I think that Rian has the most beautiful voice of the bunch. Theres just this richness and power behind it and it gives me chills every time. Hope we get to hear him sing again in the second season. Though, just this scene is bloody amazing. I commented this on another video but I have to do it again. My mind simply cannot accept that these are puppets, they're so full of expression and emotion. Especially when Rian looks at Deet. If the Gelflings came to earth and competed in sports like the Olympics I am curious to know who you other fans think who would compete in which event?? I think Kylan would compete in diving and swimming. Brea would compete in gymnastics. Gurjin would compete in things for strength like the hammer throw and shot put and maybe the javelin. Rian would probably be good at track. And Deet would probably be good at the balance beam. Naia could be just like her twin but I also think she would be good at the tumbling and flips. I really want to know what you guys think!

This has become my favorite Netflix series,I can't wait for more scenes like this to happen, a soothing tone with more Rian and Deet moments, took my soul away🤧☺💓scenes like this got my attention away and let me just feel the moment🙂

I truly love how this implies that each Gelfling clan has their own version and their own melody, but in the end it's still the same song. And when they sing it together, they harmonize.

this song in the whole series is one of my favorites, its calming and has a good melody to it by the gelfling and podling. It all fits.

The gelflings are too beautiful at heart to go through what the Skeksis put them through. Only beautiful hearts can create such a song.

I can't stop watching this! The music, the flute, the feels, the shine from the fire in Rian's face as he looks in awe at Deet. Pure genius

I come to speak for the dead. I will not forget this piece of work, It was great and a treasure.

this is such a beautiful, intimate scene. I wish more shows would put their focus on characters like this, I look forward to this scene every time I watch the show

I can't stop watching this over and over and over

It's significant how this group is made of gelfling/podling from different groups, and even though each clan tend to separate themselves from others, this particular song is known by everyone. Even Deet knows it, though Grottan never come above ground. It's almost like this song was sung back when everyone wasn't divided, and it's this song that brings gelfling from different clans together.

I so love this song. would have loved having this as a track, this song takes my mind to my grandma who I miss everyday. but this song fills me with comfort.

God I love this show so much!!! Like you can just feel all the love and work that went into every scene. This show it top tier for me.

I cry every time I watch this scene. This was one of the saddest yet heartwarming scenes in history. Way to go, Netflix, you cancelled one of your best shows.

I love this scene so much it's so beautiful. All of their voices are so enchanting Also, can I just say that I absolutely love Brea, Tavra, and Deet's designs? Their eyebrows have a sort of sad look to them and it makes the characters very beautiful and unique to me

I just realized that this must have been so depressing for Rian more than Brea because he didn't get a ceremony for his fathers passing

I need this song by itself. Just the vocals and music

Gosh, the first time I heard this melody I got chills and started tearing up! It just brings out the feelings so well and you feel like you are with them sitting by that fire during the ceremony. This even makes me curious if I can learn their language...

Actually Kylan is very VERY similar to Jen. They literally play the same instrument, and all Stonewood have the blue/green streaks. Kylan's Stonewood genes might have come out stronger in Jen. Also, his skin tone is similar to Kylan's, but since he is said to be interested in Brea, her Vapra skin will have lightened it. That's also the case with Kira, because she looks kind of Albino compared to Jen. On her tunic is the Stonewood symbol, and she sits on the Stonewood throne. This cant be ignored I've spent too long typing this

I both love the idea that each clan has their own version of the song, AND the idea that the song is one consistent which has remained between All of Thra. That perhaps there's some significance in each individual harmony. That each of them KNOW how the song goes, and the many ways it can be sung. Can you imagine the dozens, HUNDREDS of voices rising up together in mourning, in each clan? I know this show is over, but GOSH I hope the story continues.✨
