*The deck lists on this channel are based on real decks that are played on a regular basis. What I love about Magic is that everyone can have their own deck ideas and make something unique. If you don't necessarily agree with cards in the deck, that's okay! I'm open to constructive criticism, but please be respectful to those around you and online. I want to build a community of people that doesn't tear one another down for something as insignificant as a piece of cardboard. Thank you all.

Excellent video, any reason for not mentioning the Capenna families yet mentioning the Strixhaven schools? I don't think many people use the names of either plane, but if you're going to mention Strixhaven might as well mention Capenna. Part of me thinks it was intentional by Wizards giving the Strixhaven schools and Capenna families mutiple syllable names so that it was harder to memorize, so people would default to the original names. I was lucky that I started magic right before the return to return to Ravnica (Guilds and Allegiance) so I learned the dual names pretty quickly, but I'm waiting for the return to Alara and Tarkir since I have only memorized a few of the wedges/shards.

I didn't put them in because I forgot them... 😅😅😅 thanks for mentioning them! And I suspect you may be right. I'm literally never going to say Riveteer over Jund...

@@ManfredPlusMagic Happens to the best of us, lol. I was giving it more thought, and as far as the syllables are concerned for the colors that have received different names, the comparison of syllables are: 2 colors Orzhov (2) vs Silverquill (3) Izzet (2) vs Prismari (3) Golgari (3) vs Witherbloom (3) Boros (2) vs Lorehold (2) Simic (2) vs Quandrix (2) 3 colors Bant (1) vs Brokers (2) Esper (2) vs Obscura (3) Grixis (2) vs Maestros (2) Jund (1) vs Riveteers (3) Naya (2) vs Cabaretti (3) All of the new names have the same number or more syllables than the old names. I'd be curious to see if they ever give a color combination a new name with fewer syllables to see if it's adopted by the playerbase or if we stick with the old names. I imagine we stick with the old since we're used to it at this point.

@@JinandWin that could be neat 🤔 I'd like to see that. Or maybe some official names for the 4 color combos
I stopped playing about 12 years ago. Only just started up again about a year ago. Color combinations having actual names is a new concept to me.

5-color decks are sometimes called “domain” (like the status of having all 5 basic lands) or less frequently “rainbow.”

@burner555 yeah, but let's take a look at how Companion went 😂 changing 10 year old cards from not legendary to legendary wouldn't be that big
Always ran a Golgari set when I was younger, then went to Izzet, and now main either a Jeskai or Temur set. Red burn and Blue control combined with White or Green creatures is my forte.

Nice! All solid picks
alternatively for the 4 color I see most often is the shard/wedge name+whatever color is splashed. as that is usually how the decks are built. like my Breya Deck I'd call EsperRed and my Yidris deck is GrixisGreen

I'll have to make some lore videos about them!
The Nephilim names I never found made sense (Ink has no black, really?) Anyway. Yes, there are short names, but they're not sticking for me. I try to call them for the Commanders in the 2016 set, which were four-colour decks. WUBR Breya, UBRG Yidris, BRGW Saskia, RGWU Kynaios (weakest name of the bunch, I admit), and GWUB Atraxa. Single colours don't really need names, but I also thought of these going all the way to the beginning. W Serra, U Vesuvan, B Sengir, R Shivan, G Llanowar.
@ManfredPlusMagic

I heard rumors that the Nephilim names or art were all mixed up last minute in some printing error. Which would make sense as to why they're all weird... But they definitely need new names. The 2016 decks are a great option!
Not sure about all of them but I'd probably call white / black chaos

After the Khans of Tarkir got enslaved by dragons due to a change in the timeline, we got additional names for the Allied Colors after the dragons. BR: Kolaghan RG: Atarka GW: Dromoka WU: Ojutai UB: Silumgar You also forgot Ikoria, which also has alternate names for the Wedges. Unlike the Khans, they're focused on the central enemy color. RWB: Savai GUR: Ketria WBG: Indatha URW: Raugrin BGU: Zagoth *Edit:* Fixed the mislabel for Zagoth. And finally, there are the crime families of New Capenna as alternate names for the Shards or Arcs. Unlike the Shards, their mechanics appear to focus on their "central" colors' means rather than goals, pitting them as the Shards' opposites like how Ikoria and the Khans are opposites. GWU: Brokers WUB: Obscura UBR: Maestro BRG: Riveteers RGW: Cabaretti On an unrelated note, similar to the Lorehold colleges, that would be cool if we got an alternate way to interpret the Allied Colors that unites their differences. This would, of course, turn them into Wedges since it leaves them unopposed to their shared enemy, but this actually allows to look at two alternate ways of looking at this Wedge. For example, the Temur interpretation of Gruul/Atarka is spread from Impulse & Instinct to Chaos & Interdependence. This turns what's usually a weenie strategy into more intelligent aggression but with two alternate ways to deal this out. Red-lead says to combine raw power with shooting spells while Green-lead says to pump up your creatures while you can. Another example is the Jeskai version of Azorius/Ojutai which turns the immovable Order & Logic to the enlightening Morality & Technology. They both agree on defending oneself, but which color is dominate determines which one. While Blue uses spells, White relies primarily on combat tricks.

Aren't "wedges" specifically the three-color combos with a color and its two enemy colors (like B paired with GW) and the "shards" are a continuous allied trio (like B paired with RU)? It sounds like you're using them as interchangeable but I believe they're accepted as distinct (and personally, I think the two names should be switched so the acute triangles of "wedges" are called "shards" and vice versa, but that's just a personal viewpoint).

What does midrange mean?
@ManfredPlusMagic
10 ай бұрын
Midrange decks are aggressive decks that flip the standard aggro-control deck archetype by attempting to control the early game, then closing the game with efficient creatures in the mid to late game. Midrange typically features few creatures in the 1-2 CMC range and instead tries to win with high-impact creatures or planeswalkers in the 3-6 mana range while casting strong interaction spells in the early game.
