He was acting actually. The movie was made to make us think he was an angel and the more the movie goes, the more you learn about who he truly is. This is the same Loki who once turned himself into a snake to stab Thor. The movie is just made to make us think otherwise.

He was always never treated fairly by everyone, but he just stayed quiet and let it go. He didn’t ever agree with Thor’s actions but stayed quiet, you could see it in his face. It’s a sad backstory he has

@@naveenkumarsr7847 are you real for now? They never treated them equally. Thor was always the golden child even though he was arogant and spoiled meanwhile Loki was polite and respectful. Thor's friends always bullied Loki and other Asgardians saw him as weak, Odin's favourite kid was always Thor too. They always compared them and brought Loki down. Of course Loki became the way he is now anyone would.

I really like this version of Loki. He seems like somewhat soft here.

Yeah. I really feel like after a while, the writers started letting Tumblr nuts write these characters for them. Especially in Ragnarok. Ugh. _As a movie,_ Ragnarok was good. As _a Thor movie,_ it was effing terrible.

You know, the strangest parallel I ever got from Loki, is that he reminds me, somewhat, of Peter Parker (Spider-Man). Peter reminds me how Loki was before, Loki was soft-spoken, polite, innocent, and shy just like Peter was in Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Infinity War! Loki was just like Peter before who are both at two ends of a spectrum where Loki found rage and anger to his answer and Peter found acceptance and a purpose to his, that's just my opinion but I'd like to think that both Loki and Peter have the same situation but different conclusions.

I think this is why so much fanfiction involving the Asgardians getting to Earth without any mishaps on the way have Loki and Peter getting along so well it freaks Tony and the others out a bit, before they see that while Loki is a bit stabby he's mostly calmed down and "reformed" into an anti-hero type by the end of Ragnarok. Nothing like art therapy: writing nasty documentrary plays about the people who hurt him and the hiring actual actors to put on those plays in public for large audiences really worked out a lot of his rage at the beginning of that movie!

It’s sad to see Loki’s face in some of these scenes. It’s almost like he knew all along, he knew his origins. Really sad he didn’t get the respect he deserves

Came here after season 2 finale of Loki, seeing and feeling his character development throughout my childhood is truly amazing.

A lot of people kept saying that Loki was evil ever since he was like 8 years old because he stabbed his brother, but they are forgetting the fact that Loki has been bullied and mistreated his entire lifetime and lived in Thor’s shadow! Even tho he’s a prince, he’s constantly being compared to his brother and was never treated fairly. It’s like Loki is one of these super cute, innocent, and nice kids at age 3-7 but was getting bullied and was treated like he was useless and that he will never be someone successful like Thor, so he turned evil and was no longer his innocent, cute self again.

If I'm going to be honest, they didn't do justice for Loki's character in the Loki show. The way they tried to label Loki as a naracist didn't set right with me when Thor and his friends pretty much bullied the kid for most of his life and claiming that Loki was a coward for using his magic and the show never acknowledged that!!! I was a Loki fan for so many years but after watching season 1 of the show, I'm a little off put.

I hate it when people bring up the stabbing thing as an argument. Thor doesn't seem bothered at all by the story. It's like people forget that an asgardian getting stabbed with whatever type of knife an 8 year old would have is the equivalent of a human child poking their sibling with a thumb tack.

I'd even assume an enchanted training blade because even high-pressure military/hunting enthusiast dads don't let the kids play with live steel or ammunition unsupervised. No way it was worse than a papercut with the way Thor is telling the story, and with how Loki reacted too! You just know he would have told the story of the inciting incident if he wasn't fairly sure he would get hulk smashed if he wasn't on his best behavior. "Oh, well, I seem to remember that earlier that day..."

He came so far....truely an amazing journey

......I wonder if this is before Loki started to stab his brother for fun....

I would do anything to see Loki being celebrated! Sometimes he might have been a better king if he had a chance. Obviously he is more intelligent and more thoughtful than Thor and he is caring. I don't know, I want to see him win so badly.🥺

I just saw this movie yesterday (despite having seen the avengers movies already) and I honestly enjoyed it 100%. I regret now all my reluctance to watch it, based on the critics I read before. I really don't understand why it was so harshly critized. My favorite character was Loki, I think the actor did such a wonderful work in this movie in particular, I honestly think he made this character great in so many aspects, which were somehow lost and distorted in the next movies I think, I would have liked to see more glimpses of THIS Loki in the avengers movies, what a marvelous, interesting character he is 🤔

A lot of what frustrates me with the Thor series is that they raised legitimate questions about Asgard in general; Odin wasn't benevolent for much of his history but a ruler of conquest, Thor was short-tempered, short-sighted thug with no business ruling the nine realms, and Loki was lied to and passed over in favor of preferential treatment for the blood son. But instead of really digging into those questions and holding everyone culpable, Odin is treated as a good guy, Thor gets to spend a weekend on Earth and then say he's a different person after centuries of douchey behavior, and Loki's not-unreasonable points are ignored in favor of calling him the bad guy. I'm not saying Loki is off the hook; he did tell some pretty cold lies, he did go behind people's backs and take his share of lives. But he's not wrong when he says Odin and Thor did the same for years and were never held culpable. It's like they courted the barest bit of a sort of Game-of-Thrones-y complexity wherein all the characters are morally gray and prone to mistakes, but then shrugged and went, "Anyway, back to good guys n' bad guys." I guess I can't really expect more from a comic book movie, but it's still disappointing.

I first got into the MCU because of Tony but I have been interested in Loki recently! I love the character so much. He was ruined after this film though. The Loki in Avengers only makes a bit of sense if he really was tortured or being controlled by the mind stone. The thing I dislike about the series is the theme of colonialism like you said. The Jotunn are treated like disposable grunts in this movie, the dark elves are not fleshed out and Odin's sins are not explored properly in Ragnarok. I can believe that Odin loved Loki as his son. But if he truly loved Loki why would he allow Thor to brag about killing frost giants? Without Frigga, Loki would have been executed while Thor gets a vacation on Midgard. So much potential is not explored which is why I am sticking to fanfiction and will not waste my time watching the movies fully. No use disappointing myself.

Bruh Loki is right, Thor in this movie didn't deserve to be King! And look how bad people treated him, Hemdail argued with him while he was just trying to clear things up, but once Thor raised his voice (of course by interrupting Loki) Hemdail just couldn't say a word, plus all Thor's friends. I hate them so much, who are they to mock Loki?????

He is the God of Mischief. He will always be a trickster and will do anything if he needs something. All of it was part of his plan. In the comics he's kind of a bully.

Its really funny how everyone is like "He was so pure! No wonder he became evil with all the hate he got!" when in reality, he was always like this. The movie was made to make us think Loki is the actual angel who deserves the throne. So during the first half, we think he's an angel and he should be king. Why Odin doesn't think so baffles us. But the more the movie goes, the more we find out about him. His true colors start to show after half of the movie. The more it progresses, the more we know about Loki and the more we see his true motives. His plan was always to dethrone Thor and be his father's hero. His plan changed after he learned he was a frost giant of course, but it was still his plan to be king. He wanted Thor to go so he manipulated him into going, knowing perfectly well that everyone would follow him and how Odin would react. His banishment was part of the plan and so was putting his father into Odin's sleep. The Loki we see at the beginning of Thor 1 is the same Loki who was planning to take the Throne and the same Loki who stabbed Thor after tricking him. Loki was always this way, we just didn't see it in the beginning of the first movie he showed up in.

Micah Guillemette i really see where you're coming from but i just think we cant say loki is all black or white meaning he isnt 100% evil nor 100% benevolent and perfect...i think everyone is in between, gray. just like Stannis Baratheon said "A good act does not wash out the bad, nor a bad act the good. Each should have it's own reward" I feel like because of his up bringing and his life being under the shadow of his older brother, it formed him into a vengeful, envious person...underneath that though, like in thor ragnarok you can see he is not all dark (btw i recommend that movie it's so good)

Less need to watch a reboot movie a parody of Ragnarok. Taika himself said that this was not connected with everything. He rewrote the biography and character of Loki and changed the whole atmosphere.

Tell you the truth, I don't take anything they say in Ragnarok about their past as something that actually happened, and certainly not something that was planned and taken into consideration back when they made the first Thor movie. It's pretty obvious Waititi didn't care much for the previous movies, and that part in particular was an improv. At any rate, even if you choose to take it seriously, I'd think it's more like kids fighting, not anything serious. Thor surely didn't seem to take it as such.
