obviously you bypassed or immobilized VATS and or PassLock security or a 2000 wouldnt have run for more than a second or two without it getting the ignition and fuel shut off by the ECM. Other than that tidbit it was a very instructional video and I am a mobile mechanic w 30 yrs experience. disclaimer just in case I cant remember if 1 ton and fleet vehcles IE: C6500< are not VATS protected. Sure would like to know so I can file that away in my head. Again great video and I totally dig the key machine. bet that wasnt cheap. Ive been considering picking up some locksmithing just to add to my repotoir. Do you think that its an oversaturated field. Ive already got all the software to program keys for the most part anyway. I cant stand how the few guys in my immediate area gouge people for 400 bucks for what I literally do for 125 bucks and bypass the system and put it on a toggle switch for remote start function to work(wont work correctly w system immobilized. THANK YOU!! Worked perfectly! If you don't have a lockpick to bend, you can use one of those plastic toothpicks with the flosser on the other end. It's thin enough to fit and bends on its own to get the job done!

You're a life saver. Had one of the apprentices screw up the tumblers on a new cylinder and your trick saved us having to drill it out. Thanks!

Just wanted to say this saved my ass today on my 2000 s10 blazer. You need a current registration to get a new key from the dealer. My registration expired so rather than go thru the current COVID bullshit at the bmv (standing in line for hours outside in 20 degrees & snowing) I opted for this option except I just popped an aftermarket lock cylinder in & I did not use a key like you did I just used another key from another s10 or blazer I had. I had 8 other keys laying around (yeah I’ve had a lot of s10s lol) and used the one that went in the ignition the most. Was done in less than 20 minutes! Thank you sir!! You earned a sub from me!

Yes.To get the top off you just break it off !!! He didn't show that part,but you can see where the plastic stem is with the 4mm bolt head that you have to remove to get the top cover off.Hope he doesn't work on someone's newer vehicle. 😆

Dude thanks for the detailed video. Ordered a $16 jiggler set off Amazon and ground down one of the jigglers to slide in and hit the lock bar. 5 seconds with the jiggler key included in the Amazon kit and it turned over. I tried forever before without shimming the lockbar. Lifesaver, dealer cut me a key that wouldn't work and everyone else told me to drill it out. Couldn't get a locksmith out!

I think one of the main problems with this fix, for most people, is even getting to the lock cylinder. Taking the plastic pieces off is tricky and we need instruction on that as well. Thank you for your time and knowledge.

Rather than disconnecting the battery, you can put the vehicle in reverse. Safety mechanism disables the starter while the vehicle is in gear.

How do you unlock the cylinder to move the shift lever? I'm sure there's a disconnect for that purpose but where is it?

Thank you for posting the video. . I’m 40 year mechanic and I have never done a lock cylinder replace without keys on a 2000 suburban. Another close to working similar Chevy key was my jiggler. It worked with the wrong key in there only to turn and remove and replace with new.Stiff mechanics wire and a close Chevy key worked . Without your video I would of had to drill it out, thank you man. Where do you eat lunch iI will set it up one day to send the place you eat 20$ to buy you a nice lunch. I am an hour north of NYC. Ok well heres the the thing... i like to just decode and cut to the original ign. lock cylinder when its the same key as the door... so they dont use two keys to operate the door and ignition ... but yes,you can always use a new ignition lock cylinder... the only thing is that, you wont have the same key for the door and ignition.

I guess they do not have a pass key chip in the key then. This truck was half missing the tumblers i got it out but it starts and dies loosing the ignition or injectors. Fuel pump cycles on each time notices it also wont shut off when i turned dhe key back each time. Im gonna assume the ignition switch itself is also partially broke.. Loved the video ty very much very good man to help so much.

Hey man, just came across your across video, I found it very helpful and saved me tons. I working on a silverado that needed new tumblers. Is there a way to fi.d the codes to re-pin it with out that software you have? I was able to get the cylinder out and found that code. I can't find which pin goes in wich slot though.

Does the linkage to transmission need to be hooked up to unlock the steering wheel and egnition then to start it

I took the side bar out and put the ignition back in and used an old gm key i had laying around....If someone wants to steal your truck they will break the ignition anyway

The door was fairly easy..i used my lishi..... couldved found the bitting to the ignition with instacode ...but the ignition was once changed before ... so it wasnt the same depth cuts as the door... usually when they are non transponders i know the ignition lock cylinder has been replaced already..:((( Thank you for watching!!!

Hello if u took out the drivers side door lock and put the number from the lock onto your key machine would it cut the key exactly as u cut from the initio?

I took one extra step because I had no pick and since truck wouldn't start, well. Any way I broke off the outer ring with the 4 notches that are proud of the ring. Then I was able to insert a small Allen key and pretty on the keeper bar and 30 second of Chevy jiggle later, it clicked over. Instead of disconnecting the battery you can just shift to drive once you have it clicked over and it won't try to start when trying to remove the cylinder.

Hi I see that you do not remove the upper column cover bolt out and broked of from the cover everything olse was ok even the removal of the metal ring, thanks for sharing your videos there are very helpful to follow through when needed and learn from mistakes. Great video,very helpful.. was wondering why you have to depress that lever with a pick if your using a jiggler key to turn the ignition? Is this absolutely neccessary or does it just make it easier or ? Is this a Chevy specific security feature of sorts? Do any other makes use this as well? I've gotten several ignitions to turn with my jigglers and have never done anything like you do with the pick, but they have also all been done on ford vehicles.. just lookin to learn.. thanks for taking the time to answer my questions..

Yes it makes it easier on these chevy/gm older models.. for the newer high security keys they have this ignition lock removal tool by locktech give those a look !! I just purchased some!!

@@MYKEYSAUTOMOTIVE I'll check that out.. after I cut me a jiggler with a blank made for the blazer and depressed that I had the ignition turned over in about 2.5 seconds. it was a little too easy lol... I appreciate you making the video it helped me out a whole .. one more question if you dont mind.. is it possible to reinstall the lock cylinder without a working key? I tried to put mine back in before getting a key made and cant get it for the life of me.. I assume its because I dont have a real key in it just my jiggler... thanks

@@timmcgillvary9353 I believe its not possible to install it with out the key, since the sidebar only goes in when the key is in the lock cylinder and you need to kinda turn it while your installing it so it can sit in all the way.

I do have a quick question? I have lost my key?? Will any key work to turn the tumbler to that click position ?? Or since I lost the key how do i over ride it to start my truck?? Im instaliing a transfer case motor and my truck is stuck in 4hi. The new transfer case motor instructions say that the 4wd must be in 2hi to i stall the part?? I have the drive shaft dropped and need to over ride snd manually shift it from 4lo to 2 2hi. But the truck has to be started?? Thank you for any advice you might be able to offer.

im trying to this right now on the same truck. can you tell me why i need to have the battery connected at first to turn the key? my battery is disconnected. my key turns half way and then stops at the on position. it will not turn enough to press down the tab. do i have to connect the battery? i have also removed the 'key in' switch on top to let it turn. and i drilled out the side bar and removed it through the key hole.

It should work for any double sided key ignition for chevy gm buik and caddilac.. just uses a different key .. have i sent you a pair of my jiggler keys?? For new and old style keys??

How do you get the rest of the cylinder out when someone has tried to beat it out with a screwdriver? I bought a parts truck and I wanted to first try and start the engine before pulling it and second possibly use the steering column and replace the lock cylinder but I can't get it to turnover to replace the cylinder.

GM really messed up and I'm a fool. Battery dead. My 05 Yukon has only one way in threw the driver's door key lock. But it was jambed and I was locked out. no passenger side key lock and no rear door key lock( nor a optional way to open from inside or to open window). I had to bend door and a long steel bar to open power lock but the battery was dead. Sucks. Finally was able to click the manual lock. Windows are power only with key on. Sucks. My kids can not roll windows down when I'm outside. Center dome light drains battery overnight. Suddenly the Radio clock went to 12:00 every morning drained battery over a few days (since I only drive 2 times a week) so I replaced the radio with a used radio but it was locked. Had to search radio unlock KZread. Open radio removed tiny black chip. It worked but the door chime was 5 times louder. Cut the speaker tan wire to driver's door. Fixed that. But next day the radio clock was at 12:00 again. KZreadr said it's my ignition switch. Sucks. Ordered one off of eBay 20 bucks. Took me 4 hours to figure it out with a KZread. Waiting to see WTH is going to happen next. GM sucks. Every Chevy van or truck I buy has these issues with alarms power locks power windows grounding wires ECM fail. Chevy vans were the worst for those problems. Follow up: 18 hours later the battery is almost completely dead and I had the radio fuse unplugged and everything else was off. So it looks like I've got a parasitic draw somewhere in the vehicle and I will never find it so I have to unplug the battery every single night.

Nice video. My question is I just bought a 07 impala SS from Auction, guess it was Stolen. I got the car on by bypassing the starter with a Hot wire. Now that I know the car turns on and engine and transmission is solid. The Key that came with the car locks and unlocks the door. How do I go about Getting a New ignition since the one that is with the car was played with, I can turn the ignition with my hand, so I know it bad. The code on the Ignition shows 312813. Autozone sales ignitions, but don't want to buy it yet, cause idk the order of how the Wafers go. How do I get that info?

Remove the door lock cylinder and count the pins and rekey the new ign lock cylinder to the cuts on the door!

@@MYKEYSAUTOMOTIVE So basically you are saying go to Autozone and buy the Ignition lock Cylinder for the impala SS and then match the Wafers from the door lock then that should start the car right up?

Look up the code by instacode and get the bitting from there it should be easier!!

Mate vehicle had one key. Vivaro van. Buttons were bad and remote not working. So programmed two new keys. Threw old in rubbish. All good. 6 weeks later one key not working unlock lock. Then day later second key stopped working. I was thinking it was autels fault. Or keys fault. But in truth as itd been happening before we turned up. It has to be something in the van. Immo maybe. Whats your thoughts?

Broke new record

Ok so went to a Citroen c3. Said immo fault. Tried testing immo with im608 pro and if said immo fault. Nothing else but could not delete. So i went to key relearn and it said success. Car still no start. Scanned and immo fault still there. Customer said how car broke was the key came apart in his pocket. When reassembled car not opening and no start.

Did you try reading the key? Did you program a new key??

@@MYKEYSAUTOMOTIVE when i coded new key in then it started. So other key which was new but obviously had issues, we did nothing with it. Put it straight in the bin. Got to code another key in for the spare in couple days. Also got audi tt 2012 to do now. Picked that job up tonight

If you didn't pull the lock could you have decoded the ignition lock with a lishi tool and cut the key with that? Thank you.

Remove the lock cylinder again make sure the side bar goes down when u put the key in!$
