I love this one. Later on Mike yells at Archie to stop listening to him and Gloria’s fight (though the Glass Cup pressed against the wall) and bangs the wall causing Archie to fall into the Bed as well as the look on Mike’s face after Gloria slaps him. Edith's wisdom shines at the end of the episode with the story about her Parents having a nasty fight that lasted a month or so.

I don't condone the way Gloria talks to her father or her mother, but what she's saying about Archie's treatment of Edith is basically true. Sure Edith sets her foot down some times and stands up to Archie, but there are many times I think Edith doesn't stand up for herself when she should, so Edith does kind of let Archie walk all over her. However, Gloria calling her mother a doormat and a nothing is going too far.

Exactly she is shockingly disrespectful of her mother, what am i saying?? this is just a show LOL they aren't even related, see how involved we become with this show? I used to forget they were just acting, they behaved like a real family, even to Edith always opening Archies can of beer right as she would come through the door from the kitchen, it was just like a married couple who have been together for so long their lives become so reuteen and so joined they become like one person. I always saw them as a married couple, not to actors playing a part. when I was a child watching this I thought they were really married. like lucy and Desie Arnaz on the "i love Lucy" show.

Saramy, not a real family. It satirizes. It goes into overdrive, exaggerates stuff. Not every family is the same. My father used to drink beer but not like this and never he would treat my mother like that. My experience is from the 70's in the netherlands. One day a leftie interviewer came to our door and wanted to ask all kinds of sociological stuff. Wasnt it going to far how they manupulated women into thinking they SHOULD have a problem? Was it ok to ask : hows your sexlife? Archie workked all day and came home, Edith gave him beer. Why not? 10 years later when i was studying and spent a lot time at home my girlfriend worked and when she came home I cooked our dinner. People should be more flexable. Again, this comedy does make a caricature, which is not bad makes people think it represented everyones situation.

Michael was a meathead way back then and he still a meathead today. Archie may have been a loud mouth and very opinionated but he took care of his family, work hard, and as far as I can tell never hurt anyone. The times when people told him to buzz off or shut he always seemed to get the message. Meathead was always portrayed as being politically correct. He was wrong then he still wrong now

Shes meant to look stupid as they make Archie look but the funny thing is they both end up saying smart things ensconced in the humor. Edith is so right snd gloria is so wrong. Edith is 'smart' gloria thinks shes 'right'.....proving yourself always right is the way to destroy your marriage not build it. Edith is wise in true human nature.....as usual Gloria and Mike for all their 'sophistication' are the stupid ones......but thats just part of the humor.
