One of the followers of my Facebook page posted a photo of a hat she made with this yarn. She wasn’t trying to color match, she just used it as regular yarn, and it worked up in some pretty stripes. So I think that’s what I’m going to do.

You are so good at everything you do. This totally takes the fun out of making granny squares unless you don't care where the colors are. Not really pretty colors either. Crocheting is supposed to be relaxing not stressful. Thank you for your review. I appreciate it. 🌍☮️🌲

I’ve crocheted 8 skeins of this yarn, and you can alter the pattern. I start with a magic circle, I use ch 2 in the corners, and no chains between side clusters. I do my last ch 2 in the round as a dc to start the next round in the center of the corner ch 2. I also moved up to a 6mm hook. I love this yarn!

A big part of why I don’t like it is it kills creativity. The squares look the same as everyone else’s as far as the color scheme.

Thank you for a very honest review. I must have been taught like you were because I too crochet tightly, that is NOT how I make a granny square either. I have been crocheting for over 50 years and I am too old to learn a new fangled way to do it! Love ya girlie.

Amber thank you so much for doing this review. I absolutely totally agree with everything you said about the yarn and pattern. When I sit down to crochet and to relax watching tv I do not want to spend time ripping out the square over and over to get it the way the instructions say ! As you would say For crying out loud this is ridiculous it's going to take me forever to make this blanket. I Will Not be buying this yarn!!! FYI I also don't like their crochet granny square pattern!

I bought 3 skeins of this a few wks ago. I was so pissed by the end of the 12th time of ripping out rounds to loosen or tighten my tension. I changed hook sizes many times too. Smh. It is garbage!!! Im an advanced crocheter so thats not the problem. I agree with you that their granny square is .....not right lol my grannies are neat, tight..etc. I will never purchase this yarn again!! Much love to you Amber❤

I have made 90 squares already. It took me 5 squares to get it right. Since I crochet a little on the loose side, I eliminated the ch1 inbet each 3dc cluster n I do ch2 in each corner. Sometimes if there was a It worked extra of one color, I did a few sl st. Also I have been experimenting with different designs instead of the traditional granny squares.

I really liked this stuff! I’ve made like four orders for it lol. So I’ve had an amazing time with it. I like planned pooling so it fits with me well. I did not follow the pattern on the label. Didn’t even look at it. I do the squares my way and with a 6mm hook. I have also made the sunburst granny and the African flower using this yarn. I had to play with it a lot to figure all that out though. I do wish the squares could vary on the colors and different sizes. But if those are my issues then I’m pretty happy. I think I also paid around $5.70 for each skein too. Side note…love the nail color.

I've watched many tutorials by many crochet content makers and NONE of them have liked this particular yarn. The nicest thing Red Heart could ever do would be to start making all their yarn in the USA again. The foreign yarn color is dulled down, the texture is scratchy and crappy and a lot of the #4 weight yarn looks like #3 weight. Plus, it is no longer as affordable as it once was.

I too am a tight crocheter. That looks like it's more work because as you did you have to tear it out several times if you make a mistake but having to make sure the color matches that's not for me either. Would end up with too much wasted time.
