The problem with a design like this (no screen, traditional pots and not endlessly scrolling ones) is that it seems simple, but in the end it's hard to use. You can only see the current settings initially, but not in preset mode. And in preset mode (or even after adjusting EQ), slight tweaks are almost impossible to do. Then you have to hold a button to do simple EQ adjustments. On top of that, this unit looks really cheaply built in its plastic housing. How to do it instead? Check the Zoom MS-60B+. It's even more compact, but it has endlessly turning knobs and adds a screen to always show the current value. It lets you freely combine up to 6 effects, turn them on and off individually. It has a lot more effects and amp models, all with many controls instead of just one, and they sound really good. And all of this is built into a sturdy metal housing, and it's even cheaper than the POD Express. I just got one and I'm very happy with it!
I bought one , sounds good, isn't the best effects but for studies and to travel is a nice deal. You just forget to mention that it can works as an audio interface. In my opinion, the amp's simulations, phase and delay are the best effects but I didn't have time enought to get into it. It has a lot of things to try, but is a good pedal to have in the pedalboard.
1:18 Thundercat ⚡️
I had the Pod bass back in the early 2000s (think I bought it in 1999). My wife and I were tight on money one month back in 2004 and took it to a pawn shop, intending to buy it back on payday. But when I went to get it back, they had sold it. I never found another and I was heartbroken for years. But these days, it's less of a unique protect than it was 25 years ago
'if you want something uncomplicated' !? My brain hertz.
Sophie laying down a little Thundercat there.
Really felt her playing that first one
I never thought of the Pod as bean shaped. That being said, I had a blast with it.
So, does this one also come with the buffer impedance issue included? I'd never, ever ever buy a Line 6/Yamaha product again.
guess what, we are still working in our studio with the old pod. It creats amazing sounds, which we cant replicate with newer stuff.
I've tried so many bass preamps over the years but nothing has been able to replace my MXR M80.
I really like mine!
I have an original "Bass POD" and still use it. I find it useful for my home recording projects, but it isn't a pedal, which is fine for the studio.
How well does the octaver track on the low E and B string?
Bought it and returned it. The controls are not very hands on, it's also very much made of plastic, nice if you just started with effects, but not for a pro. The sound and effects are very good, as you would expect from line 6, but you can make very limited combinations. Rather save up some money and buy the HX stomp/XL.

did the same thing, I also found there to be too much noise in the mix
Coool 👊👊👊👊
What's up with that bass, I mean the 4 metal discs above the end of the fingerboard..?😮

That’s the Sandberg logo
It's just a shame that they made it out of plastic. If it were made out of the regular folded metal it would have been perfect as a portable rig you can bring anywhere and not be afraid of breaking it simply by looking at it. They should have learnt from Behringer's plastic pedals that break if you pull out or insert the cables just a bit to forcefully.

Zoom has you covered with the MS-60B+. Seems to be the better device in many ways: More flexible and powerful, easier to operate, sounds really great, is built much better and it's even cheaper! I just got mine yesterday and I love it so far! The only downsides compared to the POD Express are missing headphones out and missing looper. Everything else is one or many levels ahead.

I bought one to use for a fly rig. Returning, feels really cheap.
Buying one would result buying also beefier amp 😢
I need to save for my new Ibanez. Please stop reviewing awesome pedals. Thank you
If I wouldn’t had the line6 bass pod since like forever I would get it,but my “old” bass pod is still doing its job extremely well so it’s a pass from me.
a multi fx for bass without envelope filter ? useless.
Zoom ms60b is better
I'm not really convinced by the concept and without a display you quickly lose your orientation in such a multi-effect box. This certainly won't be a top seller.
Cheap plastic! Battery compartment cover is really flimsy. I would have gladly paid $20 more for a metal case.
