I'm still thinking this is a Perfect time for us to let us import our Saves in the next game so we can whatever Armour we had on us. But if you don't you Probably have the Valkyrie armour without any Enchantments or anything.

I personally would rank chains of Olympus as my number one. Only because it captures all the predecessor games combat but so does ghost of Sparta but the fluidity and flow of combat in chains is much smoother. My number 2 is obviously ghost of sparta.

@@Kratos-jz5cl Oh I honestly agree. Think about Upgrading the Starter armor to Level 9 or something and having some nice Stats. Makes using the Starter armor be cooler. Only the Chest piece I would use though because the Skirt looked worned out and he no longer has the Wrist things to protect the Chain Marks. So those I'd use something else.

I would absolutely love an Ancient Egyptian pantheon, or if we’re really going out there Kratos and/or Atreus sails to the new world and gets involved in the Aztec gods.

Actually, in greek mythology (Prometheus’s story) when Pandora and Prometheus’s brother open the box, the seven sins get out, but hope stays locked inside. Her name is Elpis. So GoW 3 makes total sense and Santa Monica did not decide to make it cheesy, since they didn’t create it.

I would disagree with some of your reasons for ranking gow 3 lower. One of them being because the power was hope itself. I think this makes perfect sense and is 100% fitting since in the first game with all that Kratos did it wasn't enough he says probably his most famous lines "The God's of Olympus have Abandoned me, Now there is no Hope" I think him being so miserable that he wanted to take his own life because all hope was lost makes perfect sense as to why he was able to overcome all that he did because there was hope. And I dont think pandoras death was useless I think without her he might've died. Even though he didn't obtain it when he found pandora she is the reason he was able to come back from the brink of death and actually use that power.

Grow up with gow since ps2 its hard for to choose between 2 or 3 honestly but 4 has special place in my heart In term of bloodborne i highly disagree i finished it almost 10 times even dlc have 100% its goof game but with low fps and the story bosses are all easy piece of cake they should've had very tough boss

For me, personally ghost of Sparta is the best game in the series. The end boss was something even other gods were afraid of. The rage in the end when demios dies is the best one till now. That was one hell lotta fun. Story wise it explains a lot as why does kratos attacks in GOW2

I loved God of War 3 because you kill pretty much every god of olympus and Kratos at the end realises that killing every god wouldn't avenge if family and bringing the end of his vengeance

I understand having a fully fleshed out story for the most part, but when I played God of War III for the first time, I didn't find the story to be weak. I mean sure it shares similar elements with God of War 1, but I thought traversing the deadly Labyrinth (not as deadly as Pandora's Temple, that really tested my patience) and saving Pandora to be a great way for us to see another side of Kratos. And while the whole "Hope" thing might sound like a Care Bears/MLP message, remember that in the first game Kratos said this: "The gods of Olympus have abandoned me. Now there is no hope." Kratos thought that hope was a foolworthy tool and didn't believe in it. So when Pandora came along, she unlocked that hope inside him during his confrontation with Zeus, proving that all he had done wasn't in vain. Pandora's sacrifice saved Kratos from the brink of death. His real mission wasn't to open the box, it was to unlock the hope trapped inside of him after years of grief and torture. Yes, it was kind of late into the story to introduce the whole hope thing, but I still think it worked perfectly in the end. Story aside, killing the gods of Olympus was the icing on the cake. Throughout our journey with Kratos, we killed the Furies, Persephone, Thanatos, Ares and the Sisters of Fate. In this game, we take down the big bads. Poseidon, Hades, Helios, Hermes, Hercules, Hera (she rejected her own son, Hephaestus and nearly had Kratos killed when he was a child) and of course Zeus. Plus, we can't forget we took down two Titans, Cronos and Gaia. In my opinion, God of War III is the most badass, thrilling and shocking installment in the series. It really delivers a different feel from God of War (2018). I love Christopher Judge Kratos, don't get me wrong, but sometimes it feels great to look back at his previous adventures. God of War III is my number 1 pick, barely surpassing God of War (2018).

13:30 But this is the main point of all Kratos' vengeance story that makes it so deep,tragic and powerful. "After all you have lost,after all you have sacrificed it ends into another stunning failure".

Only those who have played every single game in the god of war series can really feel the emotional and beautiful relationship of kratos being a father and also the scene where he takes off his bandages which hid his chain marks of blades of chaos.

God of war 3 was more epic in it's fights and setting being the apacolypse for the greeks world. The Titans fighting the Gods and Kratos slaughtering his way to Zeus in the midst of it all. It was a chaotic beautiful mess. 2018 God of War was so different in its tone and setting I almost dont want to compare them. Kratos goal is so different that the fights are incredibly meaningful in the 2018 one, but they arent as "epic" which is true. Ultimately I just cant put one over the other because they are both amazing looking games. 2018 had a better story and in some ways better combat, and GoW3 just had a better fight and setting (in terms of how the world was literally collapsing with every kill)

Yeah it would probably go like this. BOI: father do you have any more story's to past the time Mimir: oh I have I been boring you with my story's led? BOI: no I just wanted to hear a story from father for a chance. Y'know mix thing up abit. Kratos: .....there were...bothers who wished to become solider that often trained in front of their home as their mother prepared the food. The youngest bothers had a quite distinctive birthmark on body, while the oldest bother did not. One day a man and a woman approach them demanding that they were given the child with the birthmark, for it was prophesized that he would start a Revolt among the soldiers and overthrow the great king. When the mother came out of the home to call the boys inside. the man said to the mother if he was not given to them then they would kill them all. The women who had remained quiet up until that point, Interjected saying that there would be no need to kill them. However this did not deter the man who continued with his threats. With there being no other option the mother gave them the youngest son in order to keep the rest of the family safe despite the protests of the eldest bother. The oldest bother tried to save his younger bother only to be struck down and left with a scar on his right eye and the feeling of knowing that he had failed his brother. Swearing Revenge he would get a tattoo that looked the same as his brother's birthmark and hunt the man who took his bother. In hopes of killing him and reuniting with his bother. BOI: that's a sad story Mimir: I didn't know you had it in you to tell story's bother. BOI: Why would they do something so horrible. Kratos: because they believed in a prophecy and prophecies are never to be trusted. Remember this boy. BOI: I will father. Mimir: I wish someone would tell odin that and maybe he would stop being such a pain in everyone's neck's. But that is just me spitballing :P

I remember getting my PS2 for the first time and GOW 1 together with bunch of games.... The day I came back from school and played GOW 1 I knew this game will be goated for the next 10 years or more and still is...

I’ve played GOW 2 so many times that I can 100% certainly say that it is my favorite in the series and is my 2nd favorite game of all time. Ascension’s story is weak but I really liked the mechanics and the blade powers. I feel really alone on that lol.

You're not. Ascension gets a lot of flak, partially deserved, but also some undeserved. It did a lot of things right. The combat mechanics and puzzles are among the best in the series. I believe that one of the main reasons for the lukewarm reception was simply that it followed up the epic conclusion of the franchise that was God of War III. There was never a real chance for it to compete in terms of significance and spectacle in that context. The other issue was that they focused on the unnecessary multiplayer too much. Not only did it draw a lot of resources away from the single player campaign, it also lead to the least polished God of War release I can remember to date. The game had glitches and bugs that needed to get patched out. And the marketing focus on multiplayer lead to some people not even realizing that the game had a single player campaign (which could also explain the underwhelming sales).

Started with chains of olympus when I was a boi, it was so effective as an introduction to Kratos for me. Loved how I had to figure out by myself what happened to his daughter and got chills at the implications. It truly made me care for Kratos. Was also so intrested when I read the blades of chaos came from Ares in the menu, I wonder if he was involved and all. A great game to start with.

Hope is literally the last thing from Pandora’s box in the real tale lol

God of war back then: Kratos, absolute force of destruction, killing the gods, epic is overwhelmed. God of war now: old drunkhead/woodsman with axe, family drama, no epic AT ALL. Give me back my Kratos who capable of destroying legions of enemys with his chain blade combos....

I grew up with this game series so every single 1 was my favourite

My biggest gripe with GOW 2018 hands down was the bosses. The stranger fights were good, and so was the queen of the valkyries, everything else was mediocre. Comparatively in God of War 3 we had Kronos, Poseidon, Hades, Zeus and Hercules as standouts. Big gap there.

Almost everything besides the god fights were reskins pasted everywhere to make the game seem bigger than it is and the gameplay is painfully boring and mediocre. Its cut down dark souls gameplay in an arena that doesn't work with souls gameplay. Definitely critic bait, theres a reason the game has 94/100 on metacritic.

I just played in the last days gow 1&2 and now i can say that i completed this wonderful game series

What I really disliked about God of War 3 were how some of the Gods were killed. Hera, Poseidon, Helios and Hermed come to mind. Hera put up no fight whatsoever. Poseidon was fun while he was in the water but once he was outside he was completely helpless. He is supposed to be one of the top 3 yet take away his water and he can’t do anything. Hermes can only run fast but when Kratos catches up to him he is immediately done for. And when Helios crashed with his chariot he can only wait for Kratos to rip his head off. I would have liked to see a little bit more fight from all of them even once Kratos managed to neutralize their biggest advantage.

Gow 2 Colossus of Rhodes took damage and gave Kratos a Great Fight.

I would really like if we could change armor appearance without altering stats in Ragnarok !

God of War 2 is still my favorite in the series.

For me : Gow 2 (because of nostalgia from 2009) Gow3 - alot of boss fights Gow1- liked the journey . Gow4 -little bit hard and different but still fun . Gos - normal game Dont want to talk about the rest lol 😂

I have to disagree with you on "God of War" (2018). While it is still a great game, I don't consider it the best in the series.

my ranking is similar to yours, the only thing that changes is that my top 1 is the god of war 2, and in the 2nd position is the god of war 4.

Excellent video. You did an excellent job of making all your points. My personal favorite is the original back on PS2 and for one reason; it changed what I thought a video game could be. Forever. Interactive art, in its truest form. I am an author. God of War has influenced my work even. I will always be grateful for that.

Chains of Olympus was my first GOW game and is still my favorite. Mt favorite weapon was the "Gauntlet of Zeus". I love pretending to do a "Falcon Punch" or "Killer Move: Serious Series Serious Punch" with the Gauntlet. I love it

I also had an issue with the hope stuff in gow3, but I don't let it take away from my personal ranking simply because hope *was* in the Greek mythos

I’m currently doing a blind playthrough of god of war 2018 and I’m in love with the game so far

the fact that they could completly change the way God of war plays and succeed is just awesome

I remember god of war ascension glitched on me and I wasn't able to progress, I sent it back to gamestop and never bothered with it again. I was heart broken.

Objectively the best God of war is/will be the latest God of war released your opionion is trash and wrong im sure your parents regret having you and I hope you step on a Lego while barefoot

Man, I feel it's almoat unfair to compare them, the older God of Wars are 10 hour games whereas the newer God of War is 40 hours+, I think it's a big part why I also think it's my favorite. If I were to compare the newest one to the original trilogy, the trilogy wins everytime easily.

@@UltimateHibz that's true, also I don't think the newer one matches the epicness of the original trilogy. I feel like my opinion can change depending on the day, if I focus on 4's shortcomings I feel like any of the original trilogy can win, but if I focus on what it did right it can also win. It just speaks to how good all the games in the franchise are.

I remember being young never having heard of God of war I rented it from blockbuster and stayed up all night playing it and then the day I finished it I went and bought god of war 2 and the psp games. I've been hooked ever since.

same, I think it's fine but something that would be sick is to be able to swap the stats of the armours around so you can have the gear that you think looks best on kratos but also get the best gears effects. even if this isn't added I still don't see anything wrong with it.

That scene with pushing away Calliope ripped my heart out and, combined with it being the first PSP GoW game I played elevated it (for me) above Ghost of Sparta. Admittedly, I barely remembered GoS before viewing your video and now it's starting to come back to me, but I still have more fond memories of Chains. And again, to be fair the shitty, unbalanced climbing/platforming bits near the end of the first game (spinning blades... brrr) nearly made me break my controller, so I think I would rate GoW1 below or on the same level as the PSP ones, then GoW2 on the podium, GoW3 for the second and 2018 for the first spot. Ascension is crap.

GOD OF WAR wouldn't be a thing nor created without David Jaffe.

God of war 3 easily beats gow 2 for me And the rpg options are so cool cuz like you said you can repeat the game as much as you want without getting bored And thats the only thing that is keeping me playing the game till now i hope santa monica doesn’t listen to ur video 😂 I mean the variety of the armors and the options are so cool

I agree, I don't see a problem with the RPG mechanics and the looks of the armours, but something that would be cool is if you could interchange the stats of the armours to have a kratos with the armours that you like the look of while keeping all the best stats from other armours.

aight dont kill me but GOW2 is straight ass. It has so much unnecessary frustration inducing parts and it’s difficulty isnt fun. Yes, it may be salt, but that’s from the game. You could say I just have a low tolerance, and you could be right. That doesn’t make it an objectively bad game, but in my opinion it sucks.

@@nolanc9432 GOW 2 was the final landmark achievement for Play station 2. No PS 2 game ever came close to it in terms of scale, structure and story progression. Just because you disliked few traps doesn't remove it's epicness.

People seem to forget so easy and get impressed so fast with “New Things” , god of war trilogy is the best trilogy in games ever , i dont undestand how people say the 2018 is better than the previous ones for real.

I like how the number one spot is the game that's not even a God of War game...

You should make a video on what Thor and Odin are even doing during the first game. Its weird how Thor and Odin didnt go after Kratos and Atreus when they are the most powerful ones and wanted them the most, well at least Odin did. Like even after Thor and Odin realized what Kratos and his son are capable of (after killing the Thor's sons and Baulder temporarily) they still didnt go after them. Thor only went after them many years later rather than immidiately. Do you know why this was the case?

I would like if all the games are remade, all the Greek ones under supervision of all the director ever in the series. I believe in Cory barlog and David jaffe together could make coo, gos and ascension masterpieces. No hate towards the actual directors. By the way I like your video and agree with everything.

@@BombaJead no because Kratos kills Baldur to stop the child killing parent cycle of Baldur paralleled to Zues killing Kratos and vise versa. Kratos didn't kill Baldure worthlessly but to defend others.

@@BombaJead It's the cycle of patricide/matricide that ends, both for Greece and Norse mythology (Odin kills Ymir, etc)

I was completely fine with the RPG mechanics in 2018. There was so few armor sets that you never really had to sit there and compare stats and wonder what to use. Once you get the Tyr set, use that. Once you get the Traveler set, use that. Once you get the Niflheim set, use that. Once you get the full valkyrie set, use that. Since the pommels and grips on your weapons all did a unique thing instead of just stat ups you can just pick whatever you think is the most useful for your playstyle.

Ascension is one of my favorites solely off the multiplayer, it was soooo fun
