It's true, I know a couple that the marriage broke up because of husband sending money home and telling his wife he doesn't have money. He leaves his wife paying all the bills in the US by herself. The wife got tired and divorced him. Now he has to pay his bills by himself. Let me see how much will remain for him to send home after paying his bills.

Unfortunately, men fault more in this area. I'm not saying that men ain't financially wise or conscious. There is a saying which goes thus. Pay yourself first. As you're thinking about your immediate family... Wife & children, as a man working to sustain the home, you also need to look after your personal self which is yourself & wife for the future. I mean, be responsible towards your children or do your obligations as a father and husband. This same logic should be applied towards extending helping hands to family/ies or been responsible towards them. When the chips are down, very few or none will show up. Yoruba will say "ebi o see duro de beni won se sa fun" meaning you can't run away from or avoid your family neither can you depend on them" Just be sensible. After all, we are all human.

Why do people in Africa automatically think that we are rich just because we live in America. We have poor people here as well. It’s up to that individual to decide if he or she is going to do something to make their lives better and to be able to bless others. Some people try to take advantage of you and wait on you to provide for them instead of making their own money moves.

Everyone is selfish. Even those that give, do so for reasons of showing that they can---that feeling of importance. So, being selfish is not bad at all, in fact it is what it is, like the head on everyone's shoulder---cut off selfishness and die. So, be more selfish even in your giving, remembering that those whom you are giving are receiving selfishly. Don't be on the foolish side of the relationship.

And also if they went abroad for studies, where would they get money for the expensive cars and homes? This man is preaching the truth . It gets hard once you are old to work and if you have no savings you are in deep trouble for survival. I sent money to my friend in London like $70 . After receiving the money I was talking to him on phone . The next thing he is like let me break it down . You have to send me more money and this and that . The next thing he did not know what was happening I turned and switched off my phone number. He probably called and called no response I got a new number. I was just annoyed that he was expecting more money from me. No one is giving me any money. Here in the western no one gives money . Once you are broke you have to wait until you secure some money by working and waiting until you get paid. It is also scary.

Seven months ago I broke my ankle and couldn't walk or cook for myself for four months and not one person came to help or inquire to see how I was doing, for a short moment I was sad but learned I am the only one who I can depend on and that's alright with me. When Love for others comes before Self Love your expections will always be shattered. Great video. 👏🏾✌🏾💙

The most disgusting is that they eat that money like a dog . Your brother who was a calm man become alcoholic, your father left home is leaving with another woman your mother is seating in church everyday giving everything you send her to the pastor , finally the money you been sending home killed your family was peaceful . Finally you start to think that : they said it . This is blood money ,is evil money, confusion full inside your brain

Thank you bro. I have been saddened by the treatment of the people I have supported financially back home. And they were the first to laugh that I have not even build a house at home. Those who asked and I said I did not have money, we have become enemies. Our relatives take us for granted. Ask yourself this, if you were the one in need after you return, would the relatives you supported help you? Likely they would laugh at you for having been abroad and came back with nothing. Took long, now I know.

The kind of life people back home are living ehnn, they wear nothing but designer, real gold, all expensive stuffs from head to toe. They are more comfortable than us and the major reality is that, they have peace of mind. Nobody is sending them back anywhere. Majority of people in diaspora are not even legal and have no peace of mind. Talk-less of thinking of wearing Prada. The way people work here and the kind of job we do, its crazy, beyond explanation. Who is even talking of savings. And talking about $100 as 5hours of someone’s life. That is if you are working a job of $20 per hour. Majority of people are earning $8, $7 per hour. And sometimes under the table jobs. Its really crazy here. May God bless you for saying this truth. Who sits at home here on public holiday? Work work work. Abeg this video is much needed.

This is why I have never fancied living abroad except you have a very good job or profession. If you earn $1k a month in Naija, you can be a big boy: save plenty, build your own house and not die from paying taxes or getting sued over trivial stuffs. In my family we're contented. We don't go begging for money because we all know how extremely difficult it is to live abroad.

The problem of needy relatives and friends affect even those holding jobs and living in Africa. You cannot solve everybody's problems. If you are abroad and can afford buy a rental property for your parents so that they can survive on the proceeds. Buy ready houses as opposed to building unless you are very sure of who will handle the project for you. Save something for your retirement, when you can no longer work the long hours. If you are planning to come back home ensure you have a constant source of income. Life is tough these sides and the people you used to assist will avoid you when you have nothing. To all those working hard in foreign countries to help at home we love and appreciate you but please take care of yourselves first. We need you back alive, not in a casket.

Truth. I lived in diaspora for 18 years and made permanent enemies. One of them is my very son who will not talk to me or call me mother. I came back over a year ago and we live near each other but never spoken. Why? Because whenever he called out of the blue to ask for huge sums of money and I just did not have it, he got resentful and swore off me. I was so poor while abroad!!! I have forgiven him. But I a, just sharing that the relatives sometimes get really demonic. There are people in diaspora becoming mad to the point of getting into an institution because of relative-related stress from back home. It's so serious the degree of entitlement by relatives is so unreal that people in diaspora at some point go silent and are never heard from. Africans!!! Stop this madness!!!

Blessed to have seen this vlog today. I used to send money to a family member. It’s been almost a year since I stopped. I stopped because when I visited my family this year that very same family didn’t even invite me for dinner despite me asking. I would have even brought the food and all she had to do is prepare and share. I wanted to taste home cooking. Not even a bean was shared. That family hasn’t contacted me since I returned to England. Abroad they are better off than me. Living their dream whilst I sacrifice, sending money aboard. Wow this vlog is an inspirational message to money senders like myself. Thank thank

Even though I have not finished watching this video, I choose to type my message because I just finished scolding my elder brother for giving his phone to his under age son to send me a message asking for money. What a hell! How can he be encouraging the kids to become beggars at their age. When you call to check on them, you hear all kinds of money request, buy me this, send me that. Hmmmm. NO! It is wrong I said to him. Thanks bro for sharing your concern. Happy Sunday.

Its more blessed to give than to receive..However give with wisdom..Giving to those who are helpless and are in need and are in no way your responsibility brings great blessings... However when giving to relatives and friends back home who feel entitled, remember that they see your giving almost like a right..Apply wisdom in doing so..

The first time I visited home after 3 years in the UK the whole village was asking me for money. I blew £1000 in a week without realising it. Out of all things, people were asking money for alcohol. Now I am a lion when I visit home. I only buy groceries and do a few repairs on the house, that’s all. Anybody who asks me for money gets an insult in their face, followed by an indication that a slap is on the way.

So it seems like people would rather lie and say “I’m not working” then say “ I cannot give you money, I am supporting myself and my family here.” It’s like you feel that they can reach across the waters and curse your whole life. What is the fear? That you will return home and siblings will not great you or celebrate your return? That aunties, uncles, and cousins will treat your parents bad, not invite them to parties, weddings because of their “selfish” children in the abroad? There has to be some reason. Is community EVERYTHING! My American “ Western” mindset is to be like “ Ok, then I don’t know you!” As long as the people who gave me life are healthy, housed, clothed and fed. That does not mean living in a mansion, feasting with friends all the time, wearing Gucci and Prada either and expensive traditional clothes. Nope. If I’m not living grand and my kids aren’t why should anyone else with my money.
