Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

3 Years and almost 50,000 km later my KTM 1290 Super Adventure S picked up a fews scratches and damage on the way from riding some of the most demanding paved roads in Europe and a year of off-road training and riding.
I will share what I have learned and tell you what you can do to protect your adventure bike from some of the same damages. Also, I will talk about the different approach I am going to take with my brand-new KTM 1290 Super Adventure R (2020)

No way I'm taking a €22K+ road based adventure bike off-road and welcome unforced damage to the bike. It would totally ruin a weekend. I'd get a KTM 300 EXC for doing dirt riding and save the 1290 SAS for road only, however that's just me.

With as many immaculate used bikes I’ve seen that are 5 years old with 3,000 miles on them, I wear the SAS’s scratches with pride because I actually use it! Besides those scratches are memories. I’m really happy with the OEM protection parts. Have the KTM crash bars, skid plate and aluminum hand guards. Only after market adds are the Givi racks and Yosh slip on. Had a 20 mph low side and 90% of the damage was to the crash bar and hand guard. >22K miles in 21 months and still very happy with the bike and add-ons.

I’m seriously interested in purchasing this bike, but I’m more than nervous about KTM’s reputation of wonky service and questionable quality. What would mitigate my fear is a lengthy standard warranty on electronics, the lack thereof suggesting even KTM isn’t convinced about the quality of their products.

If it makes you feel better- the key components are made by Bosch. Same as for the BMWs and the Ducati’s 😉 most stuff tends to go wrong in the first year which is usually covered by all manufacturers. I have had better luck with my KTM than my BMW with reliability- however BMW service has been excellent for the most part

To pay $80 for a piece of plastic, then realizing it is also bad designed and causes more damage than it prevented, so you have to fix your extremely overpriced piece of plastic with $2 rubber, and then also spend your money to fix the damage it caused... thanks bro, that's the kind of things that I appreciate the most in a video, hope a lot of people see it and avoid that products and even the product of that brand, man they should feel ashamed for selling so crappy product at that very high price, a totally scam there

It looks okay on your bike, but really no kind of wrap will provide any kind of serious protection in case of a road crash. I think a rubber tube won’t help either. You would have to install some kind of goofy looking crash balls.

@@TR850 absolutely - the crash bars are there to protect the bike and take the damage instead - especially during a road crash. The nylon wrap will help if the bike falls over during low speed maneuvering- especially in the dirt

@@MotoVibes Point is, everything reported does not even remotely resemble a damage. There're numerous riders stating all kinds of issues from bad metallurgy to never ending electrical glitches, production faults, cable and wiring route flaws etc. So such a drastic difference in experience must have some reasonable explanation besides 'just a bad batch'. One of the possible variants could be different production places, that a serial number should be able to identify.
