simple and straight forward👏👏
Yo just wanna say a massive thank you, missed out on my GCSEs and the past two years have been very unique… I’m in love with physical chemistry but organic is just.. But your videos have been helping a lot and am aiming for a B, maybe even an A in chemistry! Keep up the great work

Something can't be very unique, it either is or isn't as the definition of unique is this it's unlike anything so how can it be very unlike anything. Hopefully you do better in your exams than you do with your grammar as its atrocious.

Hello prof. Your teaching is excellent and really helps me understand the material. It would be great if you could upload longer videos soon for more in-depth teaching

Hi, thanks for the feedback, I’m off KZread until the new academic year. Take care.
my goat!
Why is the carbocation used in the second version of electrophilic addition the more stable one?
@mrmurraygreen
2 жыл бұрын
Hi - it's because it's a secondary carbocation. These are when the C with the + charge is bonded to 1 H and 2 other C directly. This video should hopefully shed some extra light on the topic for you = kzread.info/dash/bejne/q5ilx5lwdrXbpKg.html
thank you :)

You're welcome!
Hello sir, in the OCR 2023 paper there was a question on nucleophillic substitution of acrolein (C=C and -CHO group), it assumed we knew that C=C bonds undergo nucleophillic substitution with CN-, are we meant to know this for the exam or was this just application question?
@mrmurraygreen
3 ай бұрын
Hello - for that question you were meant to only react the -CHO group in the mechanism. The C=C was meant to remain unchanged in your answer. Hope that helps 👍🏻
I love hustler
For the first one, don't you need to include the lone pair on Br?
@mrmurraygreen
2 жыл бұрын
Nope. The Br- product doesn’t need any lone pairs shown. We only ever need to show a lone pair in a mechanism if we’re going to do something with it.

@@mrmurraygreen sorry this is so late but you'll never be marked down for including a lone pair when its unnecessary, as long as it is correct, right?

2:31 - where did the water come from?
@mrmurraygreen

The NaBH4 is aqueous (although you don’t need to know this for OCR) and that’s the source of the water
hey sir! thank you so much for this video. can you please tell me which ones are first year chemistry?
