these are absolute numbers. perhaps they would make sense if you provide the background of total land mass of the earth. better yet, provide percentages of forest cover relative to the size of the country. as it is, the stats above don't provide context, and that is very important to understand what is truly happening in terms of the destruction of forest cover across the globe.

The earth heals its self because when it shifts or moves it adjust to what happens. If you cut down a tree and leave the stump it grows back more beautiful then ever. Working for the department of interior in the seventies makes me realize how good the USA government takes good care of the forest. It's important to clear out old dead trees or leaves on the ground to help the trees stay healthy and give them room to grow by thinning out trees to close together.

In 2014, WWF experts said that Russia is the only major country in the world whose bio-resources are growing (we are talking about stocks of forest, fish and other renewable natural resources). It is noteworthy that this is happening under conditions of rather intensive use of biological resources - this means that reforestation and regulation of catch and reproduction of fish in Russia are quite successful. From 1995 to 2015 (over 20 years) the forest area in Russia grew by 79 million hectares.
