Check this out...one person using Thor... making a tornado center screen continuously, while Dr Strange hovers in the middle of the tornado turning enemies boxes who get sucked in (all of em).

I’m not paying a lot of attention to MUA3’s community so seeing this is real interesting. Elsa, Nightcrawler and Ghost Rider are on my main team, Wolverine being the last one but my personal go-to is Nightcrawler because when you get a good rhythm going with his teleports you can go a while without taking damage which was especially useful against boss fights and I love having Ghost Rider around for his crowd control and it helps that he can add fire damage to Nightcrawler, Wolverine and Elsa. And Elsa just feels fun to play in long ranged situations. I know there are better options for the things I like these characters for in gameplay but I do prefer to stick with these characters cause I just like them. Ghost Rider I’ve been a fan of for a while, Nightcrawler and Wolverine are my favorite X-Men besides Gambit and Colossus but since I got this game at launch, Colossus and Gambit weren’t out yet so I had to settle for Nightcrawler and Wolverine and Nightcrawler doesn’t get a lot of good attention in video games so I was especially happy that he came back for this game. And of course I wanted to rock Elsa cause I like supporting the idea if bringing in really obscure Marvel characters into games and it helps that Elsa is a pretty dope pick in general.

You’re playing the game right! I think it’s most fun when you focus on characters you love, but I think you’ve managed to put together a well rounded squad. Ghost rider as a tank, Elsa for range, wolverine for damage, and nightcrawler as a wild card of sorts lol. It’s really cool seeing wolverines claws and nightcrawler’s swords on fire too. I think most of the characters I play are on this list honestly lol

Supah Frogg now cyclops is really good. The "eyes wide open" ability is good for doing stagger and regular damage quickly and it’s very spamable. The ricochet beam is good to. It does more damage than the optic blast and bounces off of walls

Instead of giving us Elsa Bloodstone we should have gotten Winter Soldier

I’ve been revisiting this game over the past month, and grinded every character to level 300, putting quite a few hours into each of them on the way there (I used a lot of team xp isos but I avoided using spin to win since I’d rather have fun while level grinding). I made my own list, so I’m gonna put it here to see how it stacks up to the old community list. I’m not gonna write justifications for every placing, but for some of the more “out there” placings I will. 52. Dr. Strange 51. Magneto - Really underwhelming as the player character. Works best if you unequip his rock related abilities and let the AI just mash his more CC related abilities to set you up 50. Falcon 49. Scarlet Witch - She’s above Magneto and Falcon since she’s got better consistent damage output by point blank spamming hex bolts 48. Deadpool 47. Punisher - People play this character wrong. His damage is really lacking as a ranged character, so you instead want to use smokescreen to get in and deal damage, then nades to get back out, and sniper to pick off low health enemies 46. Spider-Gwen 45. Elsa Bloodstone 44. Black Widow 43. Thanos 42. Gamora 41. Elektra - Gamora and Elektra are very similar. Gamora’s more well-rounded, but Elektra can spam her charge power very quickly to melt stagger bars faster, which is the main thing both of them do 40. Spider-Man 39. Daredevil 38. Nightcrawler 37. Drax - This guy gets really slept on because he’s pretty bland, but he’s got a charge power to break stagger bars and some good damage moves to finish off stunned foes 36. Iceman 35. Moon Knight 34. Grocket - The hardest, and most underrated, character in the game. I’m not gonna get into it, but there are some guides out there on all the weird intricacies with this character that makes them a very EP efficient and strong damage dealer 33. Crystal 32. Cable 31. Hawkeye - His power where he shoots a fan of electric arrows is like a better version of Wanda’s hex bolts on a character who is also capable of doing other things 30. Luke Cage - Basically a better, more tanky Drax 29. Ghost Rider 28. Loki 27. Morbius 26. Iron Man - Kinda underwhelming outside of the beam synergy compared to his contemporaries (notably Captain Marvel) 25. Venom - Symbiote Surge does ludicrous damage, even through stagger bars, that power alone makes him one of the better choices for a damage-dealing tank 24. The Thing 23. Iron Fist - His stagger game is really fantastic, with his kick being able to hit twice. Probably second to only Panther in that regard, which makes him an incredibly useful pick 22. Blade 21. Storm 20. Miles Morales 19. Human Torch 18. Captain America 17. Psylocke - People are a little too high on her imo. She’s a great stagger character and damage dealer but she’s basically just a toned down Logan with a meh self-synergy. Great, but not top tier 16. Mr. Fantastic 15. Wasp 14. Cyclops 13. Gambit - I’m torn as to which of him and Cyke is better, but Cyclops’ tools are a little more situational while Gambit’s kit is more general-purpose. This is basically a tie, though 12. Colossus 11. Ms. Marvel - Spin to Win is great, but outside of that she’s kind of slow and not terribly great. Spin to Win makes her a top tier, but the characters in the top 10 are all more well-rounded 10. Invisible Woman - A solid enough single-target damage dealer who would be only top 20 or so, except her buff is bugged and is insanely OP 9. Captain Marvel 8. Black Panther 7. Thor 6. Hulk 5. Star-Lord 4. Thanos (Infinite) - I find that he takes a bit more setup for the same reward as the two damage characters above him. A little better at CC but a little less effective at single target, and single target is more important in this game 3. Wolverine 2. Dr. Doom 1. Phoenix

I fricken loved moon knight in mua 1, and I hope he’s still my style in mua 3 when I get it

@@superior2096 Yea I loved doing major brutal damage as Mr. Fantastic, teleporting as Deadpool and Doom and burning everything as Jean. I actually gold prestiged as Carnage, sadly the last PC character released. I had all the characters fully leveled so was a ton of $ lost when they shut down. Two and a half years man :/.

Unseen Force they definitely need buffs and not lose so much energy from it. It’s just not fair that Phoenix free energy ability goes up 100x faster than their healing abilities

I agree almost completely.

Funny your favorite character is Iron Fist and mine is Power Man (Luke Cage). I rather enjoy Luke because he feels far better at staggering than say, Hulk. Luke has great single target damage capability. Luke is great verses both single target (bosses) and crowds (AoE). Great video by the way! This community definitely needed something like this. Going to share this vid! I can't wait for part 2. So far, half of my 'Crew' team has been mentioned. Anxious to see where Black Panther & Storm are listed.

Its great you’ve been enjoying luke because I haven’t seen many people online using luke cage unfortunately. He is very well rounded and while I was getting gameplay for this video I realized he actually has good utility and I’ve been neglecting him for too long. Along with you and I, If we have any daredevil and elektra mains it would be fun to have a defenders lobby sometime!

Black Panther is broken. Should be top tier. The only character who doesnt need synergies to stagger lock bosses, even a lv180 dark phoenix isnt a challenge with him in a team.

Oh, and Luke Cage should rank higher than voted for. Im leaning towards the possibility that most of the voters havent used all characters at max skills. The only sad ranking here in this set IMO is Magneto.

@@alwaysnerdyretros I'd definitely be down for that 👍👍 Power Man & Iron Fist comics are great. I had one single issue of it when I was a kid and read more as an adult. Great action and those two just whoop up on baddies. Really wish Misty Knight had made an appearance in this game since she actually can do shock elemental dmg and she possesses super human strength all due to her bionic arm. Add the fact that she is a sharpshooter with her side arm and she would've made one heck of a teammate. Misty and Danny were a couple for a long long time. They only recently broke things off. Iron Fist is actually one of my favorites to use. To not have super strength, surprisingly he can stagger and stun extremely well. Love his speed too. Wish he had that ground pound punch from his opening cinematic scene in the game though and a heal from the fist would've been nice too. But heals in MUA3 as you said, definitely need a buff!

@@Robodob0 Magneto is pretty good imo too. I think a lot of these are mostly on point except for a few. I've tried to play with Scarlett Witch since I first got the game but she never feel powerful enough. I was happy to unlock her AoE heal but that does not help much. Magneto has that heavy attack that controls the entire battlefield. I feel like I'm cheating when I use him lol.

I'm surprised Luke Cage didn't make it any higher. I found him to be quite powerful even next to some of the premier tanks in the game

That's the wonderful thing about this game, no matter where they're ranked on the list they can be good

Its pretty cool to see how the community thinks of these characters. My main go to team is Deadpool, alongside Venom, Wolverine, and Ghost Rider. Deadpool is good for long range and teleportation, Wolverine has a good close up multi hit attack and adds to the team perks, Venom is a strong heavy hitter and was one of my favorite characters. Lastly, Ghost Rider is good for adding fire to everyone else's attacks. The team perks give off 12% extra strength (was 8% before the most recent update, team was buffed) and has good health and energy bonuses. Lacing on resilience but that's made up for in Iso-8 as well as adding extra energy.

Punisher is low because it is hard to aim his attacks ,but i find his abilities pretty cool ,especialy the sniper shot .Also , i use iso-8 that enhance his basic attacks and abilities so i can not say if he is weak .

@@alwaysnerdyretros The lack of Synergy is BIZARRE. For example, Iceman and Storm both have those hold down moves (Tornado/iceblast) that could EASILY Synergy with SW's AoE and just apply the effect of ice or vortex. Her Chaos Bolts Synergise with Storms Tornado, but it just makes them a worse skill.

I encourage players to revisit Punisher. If you don’t think he is a power house after a few min then play against him in the level 120 gauntlet a few times switching between melee and ranged characters and then give him another try.

I forgot to mention the gauntlet is called Cosmic Justice. His defensive play style makes him hard to approach but one thing I do that the computer doesn’t is spam Heavy Artillery left, right, left, right or up, down, up, down depending on angle of screen and wall/boundary. Locking onto someone helps a ton but isn’t a must.

Lol my entire current team is on this list. I have Strange because he's my favorite character and I recognize his playability struggles in high challenges. The bind + flamethrower combo is the only thing I have working for him. Scarlet Witch is a heavy hitting damage dealer for me. She clears out waves of enemies with her hex bolts and bodies bosses with the chaos balls ability. But it took some grinding and working to really make her stand out. Nightcrawler is another one on my team just because he's my favorite. But get a good rhythm going with the bamfs and he holds up great. Very specific, single target attacks but he'll wipe out a health bar. Then I have Ghost Rider, his bike ability helps me clear stagger bars and he can get some decent single target damage. I recently switched nightcrawler for Thor and I've been going through challenges easier especially in the Dark Dimension

Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange are woeful.

@Always Nerdy Off topic but since you're the only one I know that maybe can find this out I wanted to ask. So when I was doing the Danger Room for the Anti-Venom skin I noticed that he has some unique dialogue depending on the character you use, (which was very suprising considering MUA3 doesn't do that otherwise) but when I searched online no one had a list. Is it possible to find out all the unique interactions?

I don’t know of anyone who has put together a list 🙁 And it’s not something that I’ve really much time into personally. I know there’s a bunch in the shield depot for each character where you can buy lines where they reference other characters. It’s not convenient, but you could probably look through all of those

I recently finished Superior using Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, and Psylocke. I called them my "purple team" because of alt skins. Nothing spectacular when it comes to team bonus, or ability synergy, but BP does great and breaking shield with the vibranium slash, and Psylocke easily stuns with her uppercut move.

scarlet witch is also very powerful in the lore. she was amazing in marvel heroes as well, one of the best characters to pick to start with as her skills looked really cool and she was user friendly, but top tier DPS. Strange was very hard to play, but really good in the hands of someone that could play him. I feel marvel heroes did a very good job of making the characters feel like they should feel. Even rogue had the ability to steal powers from people, so you could essentially build her how you wanted. yeah I'm still not over the loss of that game, ha ha.

Admitedly alot of my favorites are on this list. My absolute favorite is not. The issue is that team ninja missed some of everyones favorite aspects of these characters. Star lord feels like i'm dancing to a crowd of enemies, which is great. However if we could hear his music, or at least him humming it, it would bring more of his lovable personality. Characters like daredevil and spiderman having low health makes sense, but it misses their never quit personalities. As we've also seen in the daredevil show, and spiderman homecoming. Which could be displayed with something like an ability that gives them a defense boost when they hit 20%. For frank and wolverine it should be a defense and attack boost. To display their infamous anger issues. Team ninja missed the mark on some of these major personality traits, that could be seen in mua2. Also i 100% agree a billy club through would be sick. Dd is another one of my favorites. When watching the show i often found myself chanting, "get up mat."

Those would be some cool inclusions, although I guess you can add a few of those through ISO’s to make your character more thematic, but I get what you’re saying. I’m glad I’m not alone on Daredevil! I love his show too and frequently revisit it

I am a huge Dr. Strange fan both inside the game and out. I was disappointed at his viability but I still use him a lot because he is still cool lol

I liked MUA3 obviously wasn’t as good as the first 2 but it was still a good game my biggest problem though was how some of the characters were based off the MCU and not the comics. Like Black Widow didn’t even have a Russian accent like how she did on the first two games.

Did you ever play iron fist in marvel heroes on pc? he was awesome, you could switch between his four stances, and the basic attack string changed with each one. I had a build that used all 4 stances, was probs my most advanced build in the game I think. I loved playing as moon knight as well, but with the mr knight skin. was happy to see at least MK was a bit higher. I like the look of hawk eye as well, I have him unlocked, just not used him yet.

No i never got to 😫 I only had a month with the game before it got cancelled and I only had it on PS4. IIRC, Iron Fist was locked on PS4 unless you bought some kind of founders bundle, which wasn’t cheap, so I never got to try him 😢 He sounds great though

@@alwaysnerdyretros he was really cool to play as, especially if you wanted a more complicated rotation. he was one of the only characters where i had use a 2nd hotbar for all his skills. thing is though, I think them moving it to console killed the game, as they were spread too thin. they already had an amazing community on PC as well. I had bought the expac with green goblin and rick fury and stuff, and the game was axed before we even got all the content from it. I heard xbox players all got refunds as well, where as we couldn't on PC as everything went direct through gazillion. I take it gaz is bankrupt now?

@@alwaysnerdyretros actually I don't have hawk eye yet. do you get him during the wakanda segment? I thought I'd gotten him at the start, but apparently not. (or maybe I'm just blind)

I hate how in all of these games they give Daredevil a move where he whirlytwirls the billy clubs out over his head. It just doesn't seem like it fits the character and is more of a Ghost Rider chain type of move. He really should ricochet some billy clubs or have something more agile.

@@alwaysnerdyretros Agree, especially in a game like this. He's one of the only characters that doesn't quite feel as fun and reflective to play as you'd hope. Like by comparison Moon Knight is way more fun and agile even though Moon Knight is the one that in the comics that should lean to being a bit more like a brawler lol. I wish they'd do a Season 2 Pass and give characters some new powers!

I would like to see archangel in the next one or maybe an xmen game

I use Phoenix, Dr. Strange, Scarlet Witch, and Storm. Pheonix hits pretty hard given the right ISO-8. Storms ice ability helps crowd control with them freezing. Stanges binding gets everyone else. Witch's Hex bolts has lots of coverage. Phoenix dash does tons of damage to stagger and health. My personal opinion and I love my team even though I have the bottom 2 heros in it

I feel like there's some merit in how long punisher stands invincible in his extreme attack. Really helps with difficult to avoid enemy waves or unavoidable attacks from bosses

Ouch, shame Elektra's that low, then again I only use her because of nostalgia, she was one of the main 4 I used in MUA1.

I am a Scarlet Witch main lol tear. Very insightful explanations on every character. Good job!

I have Wanda equipped with 2 maxed out “Double Mastery Rainbows” and two maxed out “Increase Mastery & Ethereal Attacks” and she’s Queen. She may not be the best close up, but her hex bolts will eat health, and also help with some stagger-not much. But stay up close and kill bosses with hex bolts. Her disaster field is good for getting rid of small characters, and characters that have depleted stagger bars take 10,000-16,000 twice every second, plus it slows them. If you add a fifth ISO 8, and increase mastery and status effect, the disaster field should be better at slowing enemies.

I actually seem to blow through the story mode with Wanda on my team and three tornado synergy users. When I play with my roomies, they play Captain Marvel, or other characters that destroy stagger bars, and before they can attack again, Wanda’s hex bolts have already killed them.

After I grinded for so long trying to 3 star his solo, Doctor Strange literally became the most boss killing MF on the roster...and then my main team over shadowed him after an hour

I my be lucky with morbius build but he does mean stagger damage and piercing what he lacks I defense u could buff up his hp after his charge increases attacks then debuff enemies with gaze has flight

There’s nothing wrong with hawkeye! He was my main character when I first got the game because he was so quick and agile. He’s incredibly difficult for enemies to hit too since many of his attacks are evasive. I love Hawkeye!

that feel when you think this is a video on marvel vs capcom and you think they fixed it because all the characters look good. feels bad

I feel like ghost rider is supposed to be used like a crowd control character, since basically all of his attacks cause big damage in a large area

My mains literally are black widow,scarlet witch,gamora and crystal 😅😅 I even beat the 180 rise of the phoenix and the last gauntlet for shadow of doom with this team and got all the stars 😅

Absolutely! I’m glad you mentioned that. Every character can be viable when you take the time to learn them. Strange and witch definitely have disadvantages, but they are still useful. We had a group in our discord use only the “worst” characters in danger room and they were still winning

@@alwaysnerdyretros Scarlet Witch is fantastic for clearing a room before the melee fighters have time to join the battle. What she lacks in strength, she makes up for in handling. Her healing ability is useful whenever health orbs are scarce.

I am new to the game, what is the effect of the iso that costs 20k points and gives you a Phoenix Force?

Phoenix force boosts your damage but it also burns your character (unless you’re immune to burning).

I don’t know specific damage numbers off hand but I would say it’s worth it. The Phoenix force through this iso can be used in any mode instead of just danger room too. The Phoenix force also shoots additional fire balls during her light attacks so that helps as well. I use it on Jean since she’s immune to fire damage, so it’s purely a damage boost. I don’t recall the secondary perk alongside Phoenix force but make sure it’s not the one that says “increased damage when burning” because she won’t get to take advantage of that.

I use Dr Strange, and Scarlet Witch ALOT so I DIED. When they were at the bottom of the list, no wonder I’m struggling 💀

Magneto should rank higher IMO, and that comes from my 450 hours of experience in this game. Magneto is overpowered in terms of crowd control in his heavy attack which also breaks stagger gauges effectively. He also has arguably one of the best EX due to the pull effect. His overall damage isnt toptier, but he enables other character's AOE skills to be more effective. When levelling characters or farming ISO, he is one of the few who can carry the infinity rifts on his own. One of his best tools doesnt use energy, is huge. Luke Cage isnt only a better Drax, he is a slightly weaker Hulk. Slam synergies are some of the best in the game as they consume little energy, and his charged charging attack deals very good stagger damage for the energy spent.

I like your points on magneto! I see what you’re saying, and I’ve found him to be useful too, although I haven’t put in the time you have with him. I’ll have to give him more time after reading your post. I agree, I love Luke’s charge attack. I think charge attacks in general are great in the game. They seem to always have high stagger damage

Great videos! I agree, to me, Magneto ranks higher. When spammed, his heavy attack and Fatal Attraction ability attack both gather enemies away from himself, so both are great defense and offense, just keep pressing. His heavy attack clears whole stages with many enemies. His Fatal Attraction slows down enemies, even bosses; just do Fatal Attraction far enough away from a boss to enable better defense. His extreme attack gives back health points to himself (and others?), which is nice. To me, Magneto is slower in effect, but he's in the top ten.

I was thinking pretty much the same about Magneto. He should be ranked much higher.

I know :( I think he takes a bit of getting used to. I know a lot of people who absolutely love him in this game and use him as a primary

Best character Thanos. He has both the Hulk’s durability and strength and Cyclopes’s DPS laser.

He deserves more praise. He also has a grab skill that uses little energy for the damage it deals. This and his beam are IMO his best skills. The downside is that they are different damage types, which means he cant use the higher multiplier ISO effectively.

Deadpool and spiderman are by far my favorite characters to play with

Venom is my strongest character in the game

Just played this recently, my team is thor,BP,wolverine,storm..i finished the story with this team, now i swapped thor with psylocke to go on infinity trials..

Sadly, even though I love playing as Strange, him and Scarlet Witch really deserve those low spots. Magic users were done dirty in this game. Not surprised most of the Guardians got the short end of the stick. Gamora and Drax are good, but nothing special. And Rocket & Groot could have been better with just an aimable beam. Thanos being low on the list is crazy, but understandable. Many players don't like slow characters and on top of that his abilities aren't great, aside from the eye beam. I love Loki, but his abilities are a bit disappointing. His magic balls are unfocused, his two ice ones feel too similar, and the last one is a generic tornado. Kind of expected more from a trickster god, you know. A teleport move like Nightcrawler/Deadpool/Thanos would have been nice. Daredevil is an amazing brawler-type, but like you I did expected him to have a billy club projectile. Magneto feels like playing as a boss. I don't know why he is in the low end of the list. lol But people might not like that he has slow moves and leaves himself exposed for most of them. Hawkeye I find is really good keep away character. But I like him for all the reasons you do too. The only disappointing thing I find about him is that all or at least most of his attacks should have been categorized as projectile. Despite all the low rankings, like you mentioned in the video, the good thing is that every character is viable. Excellent work with the video! Is always fun to see what people think overall of these characters. Looking forward to part 2.

I’ve got to imagine that the developers expected strange and Wanda to be really useful support characters, but just didn’t balance them properly. They must have thought healing would be more important than it ended up being. Then they realized that energy is more important than health support and that’s why Phoenix is so good. I was going to ask you about Loki the other day. He’s probably the main character I’ve found trouble utilizing. I agree, I love the character and had bigger expectations compared to what they gave us

Hella mad that Groot and Moon knight arent higher people be sleeping on them.

I watched the top character list first thinking "wheres Ghost Rider?!" 😅 I actually love Ghost rider, maybe I'm biased because he's a comic fave of mine but he deals loads of stagger damage and a decent aoe synergy which is compatible with most 👍🏻

I thought that too so you’re not alone. But I also maybe biased because I like him and his power set. I like the idea of there being a guy who isn’t affected by physical attacks and most weapons. His chains are also a cool weapon we don’t see as much.

That moment when Doctor Strange is your fav. character, but he is so awefull so you go with your second fav... who also is not that good xD

Rocket/Groot, Punisher and Strange were all big disappointments. They just aren't fun to play and feel awkward.

Yeah I felt the same. Although I’ve heard a lot of people finding ways to use them as their mains, especially punisher.

I always main Wanda and as much as I love her, I gotta admit that she's worse than Strange. I'm not saying he's good, they just need to switch positions. Wanda only has one synergy (Strange has two), she doesn't have stagger moves or elemental abilities, she cannot bind and her healing is pretty much useless. If only they boosted her healing ability, added an "F" stagger damage to her chaos field, upgraded her hex bolts and calamity spheres to at least "C" stagger and gave them fire synergy traits, she would've been easily one of the best characters in the game.

Nah venom is an insane character

I beeted the game with venom/doctor strange/ghost rider/and black panther. ps, I never switched venom out bc he's so good and easy to learn how to master his attacks to me. also y u calling docter strange the worst

I would also rank Scarlet Witch pretty low, but it is good to point out that she has one of the skills that one-shot Danger Room Hazards which is essential for high level Gauntlets.

That’s true. I still use scarlet whenever I can so even though she’s low, she’s still pretty fun to use

Gwen at 31....yeah riiiiight! She is much better than that. Her bind is one one the best crowd control skills.

Been playing Scarlet Witch on Mighty difficulty and girl just dies too quick.

@@alwaysnerdyretros it's when you were doing infinity Rifts I think. Cuz it starts at 197 million but then after you get to 197.2 million it goes back to 197.

You must have missed the part where I said this ranking was based off of community votes and not my own personal rankings. Thanos is slower and his OP beam attack means you’ll be standing in place holding down 1 button most of the match. So from a gameplay standpoint, I can see why people aren’t voting him high. From a stats perspective, Thanos would be in the top 10. That’s also why I spent so much time on him in the video compared to others I can appreciate your passion for thanos in the game, he’s still a great character despite the rankings, but I don’t appreciate you calling me illogical

I was looking to point out a flaw that comes with community rankings, where biases and other factors warp a more factual vision. I am aware that you were simply representing the data collected, and am sorry for the unintended targeting. I did personally really enjoy this video (and the other 2 within this trilogy), as alternative perspectives and detail were provided towards reconsiderations within my own rankings.

I think your points are very valid that there can be a lot of bias in community rankings and that definitely came into play on the video. I’m sorry for my defensive response and there are no hard feelings on my end!
