Nah, each avatar has their OWN personality, that small realization with the face stealer is pretty weak evidence for you to think he’s pan and they’re all one merged non-individual spirit? Stop pushing a narrative that doesn’t exist bruh. Every avatar is NOT perfectly balanced otherwise they would be a wise perfect sage and not have ANY type of internal conflict. Every avatar has their own set of experiences and internal struggles that makes them unique and strong in their own right. why don’t all the avatars looks the same? Wear the same makeup? Dress similar? Talk similar? Maintain old relationships the same like Korra and Toph. What makes sexuality different? TLOK has the avatar take a very different path and is the main part of the story of korra accepting her place in a world that didn’t outright need the avatar like the world did with Aang. She drew on his experience from time to time, but they think very differently speaking from different perspectives You make this point of pansexuality for the sake of discussion but it’s a very weak argument given the nature of the show (T-T)

I actually I don't think they should all be pansexual. I think it's up to the individual. All avatars have different experiences. Like, I'm sure all avatars have different tastes in music ,food and so forth and so on.They are not the exact same person. Wan was for me very different from Kyoshi or Roku. However, I like your train of thought.

They are all individuals, but should still have the capacity to love everyone. Who they love and they way they love is different. Just like Aang is a vegetarian, but I’m sure Roku wasn’t.

There was a theory that the rava spirit was attracted to women, which was why most avatars had women love interest, but the yang chen novels disproved that. I will again the Roku romantically loved sozen though lol

Straight here but I really enjoy the phrase "safe gayven." 😆 As for an always-pan Avatar, I can see the argument for that. But it would depend on what takes precedent - their spirit, or their current body/brain. Cause as Ms. Gaga so famously sang, baby you're born a certain way, and the body chemistry of the current body might be the primary determiner of their sexual orientation.

I think it’s more meaningful if each avatar is their own person. Lots of people talk About avatars fixing the shortcomings of a previous one or liking this and that cause of raava and I’m thinking if those are true then they really dont get to be an individual. Sorry about your personal life, aspirations, or goals but we need you to be built around this title cause we weren’t competent during the interim you didn’t exist. Maybe an Avatars gay or straight but having it be apart of their own identity instead of some base mold that’s preloaded feels more meaningful. I’d love an avatar who’s opposed to spending their whole life helicopter parenting the world. Also just a subtle nitpick I have about lgbt representation in media anyone notice how female relationships get a ton more coverage the male ones? I’m happy for korra and asami but I keep noticing while media will make a female relationship get a main role or something if it’s a guy it’ll be some background or Teritiary character or just confirmed in an interview. It feels like media would rather highlight a female relationship cause they can market it to more people.

@@malikwilliams8643 I’ve made several videos addressing comments like yours. A) Obviously Roku and Sozin aren’t actually gay. We know that. It’s Nickelodeon. It’s my head canon, my opinion, on my video, on my channel named BLACK GAY comic geek, so of course I want some gay representation. B) “Why can’t two men just be friends without it being gay?” Let me ask you the same question in reverse? “Why can’t two men be friends and it actually js gay?” When it comes to mainstream depictions of male on male friendships it’s NEVER gay. Name me one mainstream movie, tv show, video game, comic book, etc where they start as platonic friends and it morphs into a gay romance? It doesn’t exist. It’s always a bromance, never a romance.

@BlackGayComicGeek A) I apologize for my confrontational disposition, I have been a part of many discussions within the ATLA fandom that maliciously misrepresent platonic male friendships as romantic despite evidence to the contrary. I, while making an improper assumption, expressed my frustration towards them at you, and I once again apologize. B) You are correct that there are few, if any, friend to lover relationships amongst gay male characters. I emphasize male because I have seen female versions, though they are still scarce. C) My problem with implications like these are that they, in my opinion, disrespect the nuances and challenges of dating as a gay man. Male gay courtship has been presented as "two bros who decided to have sex," as if their flirting, awkwardness, and attraction wouldn't be as clear and visible to the viewer as any heterosexual courting.

Raava and vaatu are into each other once every 1000 years or so and they are what makes the avatar and their dark reflection an avatar and they are spirits that change gender like two dependant switches if raava is female then vaatu is male if vaatu is female then raava is male. The next two people that will be the next avatars are 1 week out from being born whether by c-section or by the intended way the point is an avatars sexual orientation is like religion something you value and guides your principles but is by and large not something to be put on display 24/7, 7 days a week, 3 weeks a month, 12 months a year as the sole piece of personality and the first thing to come out of one's mouth, it like most things has a time and tide ie when it actually becomes a relevant topic during courtship which is different during each avatars tenure so no even the avatar cycle disagrees with the pansexuality though in the case of sozin and roku that was more brotherly twin love gone sour, kuruk was a fun loving avatar that quite frankly didn't avatar it's weird you mentioned korra but forgot that THE AVATAR SPIRIT herself described how she seeks a new host baby for around a week after the death of the previous avatar yet still acknowledge raava and the avatar are 1 and the same yet still three separate entities (the three being raava, the myriad avatars past and the current avatar). Point being no pansexuality to be had as the person must grow without the sum total of knowledge the former avatars had so as to have a genuine childhood though korra's personality tends to be an exception and a touch to bored for her own good in her childhood to start bending the elements that young.

I don't think you understand how the avatar cycle works. Each avatar has their own spirit / soul. It is because raava reincarnates in each of them that all of their spirits are connected. Even the very examples you used are in fact proofs of each avatar having their own spirit. If there was only one common avatar spirit, then past avatars spirits couldn't "take over" new avatars as they should all be one and the same, so once the individual dies they would simply join the common spirit with their individuality disappearing. If there was only one common avatar spirit then aang shouldn't be able to communicate with each past avatar individually, he summons them to get their specific knowledge because they are completely individual with their very own spirit. Again, it's only because they are linked to raava that all their spirits are gathered in the avatar cycle. And that's proven when all the past avatars are erased when raava is seemingly destroyed by vaatu. Because she is the link between the spirit of each avatar, when she gets damaged, korra loses her connexion to her past lives as their spirits are no longer connected. That's also why when aang enters the avatar state against ozai, his voice is a combination of the voices of all avatars as all their spirits are summoned by the avatar state. Once aang takes back full control, his normal vouce return. If it was only one spirit (like raava who only has one voice), then the avatar state should have it's own distinct voice. As for your main point, now that it is established that each avatar is its own spirit, I also failed to see why each avatar should be pansexual. They should all be able to have empathy for any human or spirit, they should be able to feel platonic love with anyone thry get close enough with. But it does not automatically translate to them feeling romantic or sexual love for everyone. Yangchen was never shown to have romantic feelings for anyone despite being reverred for her great empathy. I don't remember kuruk having any other romantic interest than his wife. Same for aang, except for katara he never had any other confirmed romantic interests (and for the bumi topic, I could make the same argument for his fire nation friend who taught him a fire nation dance he used in a very intimate way with katara). Roku and sozin were good friends, they were like brothers, but they never shown any romantic interest for each other (or else you'd have to consider any good friendship as romance in disguise which feels very reducting to the complexity of people's feelings) and sozin was even willing to kill the little kid who inherited the spirit of his supposed love interest by committing a genocide, doesn't sound very convincing to me. I like that some avatars have a different sexual orientation than others. But I don't think it's healthy to make it a priority and to try to shoehorn it on other characters when there's no reason to and especially when it will bring nothing interesting to the story that is already over
