It's not a lynching cause thar means Lestat (the central character) would have partaken in the lynching of his blk lover and daughter... losing the audience completely (you can be a dick but not a racist)... Then, no vampire Lestat season 3. The words were chosen carefully.

@drewchase6577 No. It can STILL be a lynching. As we see in thecseasin finale, Lestat didn't have that in mind, but the rest of the coven did. And there are many parallels between how the only 2 convicted persons who really spoke were black & the most of judges convicting them were white. It is a direct parallel to how black people are convicted in the justice system today. And yes, 1 or 2 of the vamps in the coven *aside from Armand* were black & Asian* but they weren't the main or most powerful voices in the coven. Plus, being of color is NOT the same as being black, as blacks in general are STILL treated worse than Hispanics, East Indians, Asians, etc. And then some people will say: "Oh, well they're ALL vampires, so they don't see color --- just their "vamipirenes," which is insane, cuz if you think if Lestat HAD given those r@ci$t upperclass elites in the Season 1 finale the gift of immortality like they fooled them into believing they were going to, do you really think the fact that if Tom Anderson --- that r@ci$t prick who had been a thorn in Louis' side, just like the Alderman Louis kylled a few episodes earlier --- has been "turned" that he would have "all ofvl a sudden" viewed Louis as his equal because they both would have then been vampires?? No. Vampirism seems to have the same effect as alcohol 🍸--- it just turns you into more of what you already are! Just like when I used to go to the clubs years ago b4 the Pulse Nightclub 💥🔫 . . . people like to THINK because all gay people are, well --- GAY --- that all of our socio-economic & r@cial differences go out the window. NO. There are still the r@ci$t, elitist wyte gays; the gays for Trump; for Biden; all the same problems exist for us as they do in the straight world. Just because black gays & wyte gays share a common sexuality, doesn't mean we automatically have every other interest in common. In fact, we see this is season 1 where Louis keeps reminding Lestat that just because they both vampires & they're lovers that that still doesn't change the fact that when Louis goes out into the world beyond their townhouse that he's still seen by the wyte world (minus Lestat) as a "n#grrr!" Even with all his vampiric power, it really availed him nothing in the greater world cuz he could display that power without fear of exposing himself & putting himself, Lestat, & Claudia --- not to mention all vampirekind at risk. But back to the coven, even the 1 or 2 black vampires in the coven still doesn't discount the trial being a lynching cuz they would be consider what we in the black community label as "Uncle Tom's." Like Samuel L. Jackson's character "Stephen 👴🏿" from the movie "Django 🧔🏾‍♂️."

Wow. This episode blew me away, even more than episode 5. Delainey and Roxane were amazing. I know there is going to be a plot twist that Sam Reid spoke about on the last episode, and I'm really curious to know what that is. The last scene, where Santiago picks up the yellow dress from Claudia's ashes, is so powerful because that is the only thing that is left of Claudia in the book, and it's what Lestat is holding after Armand frees Louis from the coffin.

Louis and Armand gave their POV during the episode, so who's to say Armand, during the time he kept Lestat and imprisoned, didn't plant the memory in him that he dropped Louis? If he can erase Louis' memory, why can't he plant false memories in Lestat, because he's so adamant and emotional that he DID drop him...but I think Armand is capable of doing this...and also wirh the help of the coven troupe...

In terms of future content, three topics I can imagine covering: the film adaptations of Feast of all Saints and The Young Messiah or all of Rice's interviews with Charlie Ross (was thinking of starting a few posts discussing and analyzing those videos on the Facebook wall, but for some reason it feels like that should be your guys' thing.

Great episode. I'll never watch it again. Some elements felt a bit too gratuitous. It's like all the SA stuff with Sansa in GoT. This show puts Claudia and Madeleine through "Sansa" treatment. Not a fan of that. Ben Daniels is awesome! Check out the exorcist series (2017 I think). He's the one of the main characters in there

BDSM is really about two people exploring their fetishes and Trauma in a consenting and healthy way. There's no real danger there because you're the one in control. It's still weird as hell though but hey when isn't't fetishes and Kinks not. An example would be if you were abused and neglected by your father in your childhood. Then wanted to do a daddy and daughter role playing with your partner.

As an experienced BDSM submissive, you were absolutely not too harsh on Louis about 1x06. He makes me furious. There’s abusive BDSM and healthy BDSM, and Louis abuses Armand in their everyday life. Healthy BDSM is theater for two; it’s a game. Armand might be a real sub, but from what we’ve seen, Armand seems to be re-enacting his past in a way that looks a little more like self-harm. Along with a little bit of “I submit to you forever as an eternal apology for what happened.” Any decent dom would refuse to participate in that! That is toxic! But Louis is controlling, cold, and harsh, and does things (like the “lie face down”, as just one example) that Armand does not seem happy with, he’s just used to being degraded and not valued. But Louis would be forced out of any real-life BDSM community as an abuser. I’d love to see Daniel and Armand in a healthy and caring BDSM relationship. Armand’s a monster, but it’s a trusting and vulnerable act to be the submissive and healthy dominating requires responsibility and care. It hurts to see how he treats Armand in those moments! So, you asked for takes from folks in the BDSM community, and i couldn’t resist.

I read Armand's reactions in the "face down in the coffin" scene differently. If you watch his body language during the scene, he's posing and preening for Louis as he verbally protests. I think this is part of the theater for them. Likewise, later this episode we see Louis try to have a genuine moment of intimacy (asking Armand to attend Madelines turning), and Armand is the one to bring the D/s dynamic in inappropriately, trying to get Louis to *order* him to come. My read here is that Louis is capitulating to Armand's kinks more than the other way around. I'm not saying this is healthy kink, to be clear. I doubt they have a formal safeword, and they *certainly* didn't get the consent of the rest of the theatre before making them watch - they actually do it again with Daniel when Louis drinks "Rashid" while Armand looks him dead in the eye.

But I just re-watched it three times and I see this flash of surprise and hurt and disappointment when Louis cuts him off talking about the play to say that. Before he starts to obey and take off his clothes. The first Time, I saw the scene my reaction was “Louis no! I know he asked for this relationship, but you don’t do it like that!” One thing we agree on for sure, they are NOT safe players! Either of them! Louis has the responsibility to say, “ whatever’s going on, I am not getting into that with you, not like this.” And Armand needs classes on ethical BDSM vs manipulative, self-harming BDSM! Armand is so broken sometimes I just want to wrap him in a blanket.

Armand took off his suspender so fast after Louis command/kink request... partly because Armand was editing the play of his and Claudia's death (flexing his power dynamic/manipulation)... he was lulling Louis into flaw confidence/disarming. Yes, they're both activating their past (prostitute/pimp)... falling n2 a subconscious familiar pattern. We've all gotten ***request*** that we went along with, that in retrospect probably wasn't too koser (things you would never reveal to another soul because of optics), no one had to physically force us. We take ownership and haven't done it again. Armand was the abuser. If not for Lestat's intervention, it would have killed Louis.

Idk I don't feel off base by questioning the ethics of Louis and Armand's dom/sub relationship. I agree it is nuanced and something that they both entered with consent but I would also expect a level of compassion from my long-term partner even if it conflicts with a BDSM relationship dynamic that we're in. It wasn't just in the coffin face down scene that Louis uses apathy as a weapon. As Lestat said he was "threatened" by Louis' loneliness. Even in present day Louis doesn't respect Armand's boundary that he didn't want to be a maker to Madeline. It just leaves an awful taste in my mouth knowing the type of trauma Armand has endured before Louis.
