SOLID video John. Seriously out of the park.
Thank you George Gomez for the awesome tour!
This video is priceless, John. 50 years from now, it will be just as interesting and informative. To have George Gomez give the tour put it over the top. He had answers to all of your questions, and his management, logistics, and engineering background meant he could explain things in depth from every different angle. So very generous of Stern and George to give you that access, and thanks for doing it without many edits and cuts.
Best Stern Tour Video I've seen by FAR. Nice work John. You got some amazing Q & A w/ George Gomez. Seriously... Pinball w/ Ethernet... Going to be interesting.

Thank you, sir!
the 60fps of your videos get me every time when it starts... it just looks so good!
I had a general idea of how a pinball game is manufactured but nothing of this caliber. Very informative. Awesome video guys.
These last two videos were truly amazing! There is so much good information in these it's ridiculous. Awesome job John!
This was easily one of the most interesting and best videos ever. I'm not exactly a pinball guy, more into video games, but this was fantastic! And to think, I only watched it over two days on my trip home from work glancing at the screen at stop signs but mostly just listening. Now I need to go back on the computer and watch it in high def. Awesome awesome job John!
I now totally understand why i just spent $6,000.00 on a Deadpool Pro, and happy to do soo!!!!That press machine alone has to cost a fortune and un replaceable!!! phenomenal video John!!! Gomez is a GOD!!!!!
That was cool as hell man. George Gomez seems like a really cool guy.

This was an AWESOME vid! George seems like a cool guy. I work at a company that does 3PL, kitting, and electronic rework. It was great to see the facility and how their process ran. Excellent video and thanks for this. Keep up the excellent work.

Spy Hunter is one of my favorite arcade games ever!
Great insightful video John. Very informative and interesting. I want a pinball machine now!
I agree with KillerReviews, John. It must have been an extreme honor to meet George Gomez. I was thinking about getting a few Stern games of my own whenever I get a house with enough space to build an arcade.
51:58 Great question John, and wow his answer was so awesome about digital life and how pinball is so visceral. Also the part where you referred to the toppers as DLC was freakin hilarious! Seriously I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this video, well done sir!!

Amazing insights! Thanks John. Can't believe I'm just now finding this. I came to see if I could glean how Stern applies their precut decals to the cabinets. Since it goes against the process I see most home cab builders using (cutting the decals after they are applied to the cab). Stern looks to use precut decals, but alas, they weren't doing decals this day, damn! I'd love to see the process the factory workers use to apply the precut decals so smoothly to the cabs.
Best Tour Ever!
At the end of the day.. it's still 2 flippers and a ball! Great video!!!
Great Stern video John!

And i want to say that the camera work is freaking great! Thanks to the guy... (sorry forgot the name) plus the sound is great! what a Tour......................... tnx..............
Very amazing video! Congrats. And, yes. I, too, came away with a whole new vision of this industry. Was thinking that the pinball industry was hanging on with life support. This. Prove. That. Wrong. Such an amazing tour and such an amazing thing to think about. You started with just a passion for the arcade scene with a couple machines. Now, you're a leader in the restoration scene, obtaining bits of history, touring the very places that are still making the magic happen, propelling the historic places that are still out there, fanning life into tournaments and looking forward to even bigger things. You're creating your own genie, John. Congrats. Can't remember if I brought it up, before. But, with a few of these KZread videos, they'll throw in this leader ad for an automated camera. It's not a replacement for a real camera operator, but may still have some place in your future videos. What it does is rotates and tracks a camera on a tripod for stationary shots. Sounds like you'd wear a digital target device and the control mechanism keeps the camera centered on that so that you can not get out of frame. An interesting option. Though, it does require pre-planning on where to set up the camera and may not work well with on-location shots, as your style moves around a lot. In the garage and maybe the basement, might be a great second camera option. Though, that doubles the data to work with for editing...meaning more work to do. Plus, it costs something. Just thought I'd drop a note about it's existing...if nothing more then a 'Interesting. But, doesn't work for me' kind of thing. Personally, I still think you'd benefit more with a unipod as a side option to your rolling tripod/hand held options. But, hey...I already noticed this video was doing just that. (As in going really high into the air for a bit.) Super useful trick.

Great Video John.

Great video. Pinball is alive and well. Just need more places to play them. Stern makes the best pinball. Keep on with the great video's!
This is so interesting, thanks,
Overall, the video gives a great homage to having people appreciate the work that goes into building a pinball machine. Mr. Gomez was a gracious host, and Gary Stern should be seriously thanked. Assembly lines are time expensive and costly, and robots could never do it properly in this industry. This makes an example to dissuade "garage room" pinball developers to think twice about building machines if they do not have the experience. Stern still has a lot of talent and experience from those that worked at Bally/Williams, more than most people realize. What would make a good video which has not been seen on KZread is the DESIGN phase, which normally is discussed at expos. Interesting to see how much foreign speaking labor is employed at the Stern Factory floor now to potentially reduce costs and provide a marginally increased profit margin. It seems to have increased dramatically over the past few years. It might explain some things regarding quality control. Excellent outsourcing of parts of construction in terms of contractors. Otherwise, NIB machines would be prohibitively expensive and well beyond the reach of new collectors. NOTE: Quiz question. What does "super deluxe" really mean as an English grammar double positive? Answer. Nothing. Maybe Stern will make a "Super Deluxe" pinball machine in order to increase the cost by another $2000.
Black knight 2000,The terminator,Gone fishing and,Medieval madness,And Star Wars were some of my fav pinball machines....Shoot the death star lol!!!If I ever purchased a first pinball machine for my house I would snag creature from the black lagoon it’s a beautiful pinball machine...
The camera work was great. Also thanks for the explanation of your 15khz Mame thing. I'd love to know how to take apart a regular TV and use it, like you guys did with the 720.
Wow, this was the real Willy. Wonka tour, the real deal!!! Perfect tour and interview with George.Gomez, you hear so many titiles by this guy and to see this tour and interview will make this a classic!!!

Wow! I just looked up how much pin ball machines cost and you need $3000 to $7000 for a nice one! They are not cheap!!!!! Wish I could afford one!
John, I use the exact mame setup as you. To help your viewer mail guy who had questions about sync rate and resolution. I use soft15k to get the refresh rate right and to help with resolution I use a program called "Quickres'. This allows you to put your screen into some resoltions that simply aren't available on modern pcs. I think mine is set to something like 400x480 or something like that. I use Mame uifx which auto adjusts for each game so you don't get any squishing/stretching. Hope this helps.
Still SOOOOOOOOOO jealous! Great tour, guys! Time to save up my pennies for a pinball... I blame Gregg...
