Issue patta or build housing with decent layout (500-800 sq ft) with the basic amenities for now .But increasing development and employment would only be the possible long term solution to decrease migrants coming in. When a govt can build 15km metro transit in 4500crs this is pretty doable but no one will ever do it!!

NEEDS UPLIFTMENT Dharavi is the sign that though we are living in a single globe but there are two worlds in it , one side affording everything ( atleast basic needs ) and second are the vulnerables . We have recently witnessed massive floods in different parts of country like the IT capital was sinked there are places in maharastra where people had to struggle to stay at their home . If the rich and middle class population are suffering this than we can expect the extent of pain that a person in slum area have to go through on a daily basis . Slums are everywhere in the country but Dharavi is Asia's largest. Well their count is 48 Percent but the area they occupied is mere 24 percent of Mumbai . Govt always mulls to give a facelift to the vulnerable area but this has always been on paper only and surprisingly, with the passage of time the cost of rejuvenating this area is also increasing ( the cost has increased by seven times since the project was taken into account for the first time ie from Rs 4000 crore in 2004 to Rs 28000 crore today) . If we delay more than this cost would have been mounting and reach at a level of no choice as it is. Therefore its times demand to look into the issue . If we spend 24 billion on statue of unity then why not 28000 crores to revive this area . Vallavbhai Patel wanted to unite us and this is a big step to bring equality among people. India is a country of unity in diversity and we are proud of it . Govt must work on not only in Dharavi but must uplift every slums in the country so that we can proudly assert that our country is a true developing nation.

Please also do a report on how redevelopment projects focus only on numbers of flats and not on nature, open spaces, trees, water projects etc which are so important for staying in those flats…. Already air quality, water availability r being low . (1)What r the rules / guidelines about nature conservation, open spaces in such projects for area/ residential society/ city? Also (2)new flats but what about maintenance charges that need to be paid..? In most cases, people can’t afford & have to rent / sell the most sought after, well,-connected area to settle for remote, less-connected areas. ALSO (3) rule should be made that in any redevelopment plan, minimum 50% land should remain open space as huge towers r built , Mumbai & Mumbaikars shouldn’t suffocate. (4) with such large projects, water conservations collection sites should be developed. Hope people respect nature and not opt for suicidal negligence towards nature. Regards
